Ok, I’ve been watching this show and for the most part I love it but there is one thing I hate…..Emma’s waving character. One of the first things she said was that she could always tell when someone was lying, well, if that is the case, why can’t she tell when all her nemesis’s are lying. If I’m missing something, please point it out.
Also, each week she goes from cowardice to strong woman when it comes to Regina. No consistency.
Yeah, her character has been a tad inconsistent. Hopefully, that will all be cleared up in the finale and her character will come full circle.

Her emotions get in the way and her unwillingness to believe contributes to it.

I was wondering about that “waving” too. And, after reading here and thinking a bit, I got to the same conclusion as charming – she always could tell when someone was lying, but at that time she neither trusted nor cared for no one. Now she has met Henry and MM, and a place where, somehow, she belongs. Maybe it’s all affecting her.
Her attitude towards Regina, for me, is easily justifiable: Regina is the keeper of Henry and also has too much power in SB. Emma is bold enough to face Regina, but is also smart enough to back down sometimes, to avoid losing Henry. I think.

Look at her in the same way as that key ring with all of those skeleton keys. Those keys opens up all doors in SB. The most used symbols are keys. Almost every episode there is a key symbol whether it be an actual key or not. Emma is the master key to breaking the curse. She like each key unlocks a door. Emma unlocks certain things in different people and places.
1. The clock started to move.
2. Every stop light when she arrived in town was blinking red. As the episodes continue some of those lights stopped blinking red and started to work or blink green.
3. Jefferson was free to exit and enter his house.
4, After she kissed Graham he got his epiphany of his past life.
5. Emma partially helped Ashley and Sean.
6. She reunited Hansel and Gretel with their Dad but still a partial.
7. It seems David/ Charming is starting remember and perhaps Kathryn/ Abigail is in the same boat.
8. Emma has kept Mary Margaret from being lonely as herself too.April 27, 2012 at 12:54 am #144232charmingParticipantWhen she finally unlocks everyone she along with all she unlocked can all collectively break the curse once and for all. Evryone then can live happily ever after.
April 27, 2012 at 1:12 am #144237hjbauParticipantI am not sure about the street lights flashing red. Only because i think they might of done that for two reasons. One being that in small towns they sometimes do that in the middle of the night so that people don’t have to wait for lights when they are the only one on the road. And the second reason was because of the way that shot that scene. They like sprayed the ground with water and the lighting would have been all out of whack if they let the light continue to change like normal because of the reflection. I do think they might have made it so that the power line sparked when Emma slammed the door though like welcome the savior.
April 27, 2012 at 1:26 am #144240charmingParticipantThe sparking wires can be rain storm related or a case of convenient coincidence of Emma slamming the door. Nevertheless, the timing was perfect. Slam…..Zap. The clock tower and the strapping on the Deputy’s badge causing the mine collapse are two incidents which are not likely to be any of the prior. Nonetheless, Emma is the master key to all of the characters. She needs to affect all of SB in order to break the curse and thus final battle.
April 27, 2012 at 2:24 am #144250charmingParticipantBased on what we know about Emma, there is a good case for SB being 2007. Oct. 23, 2011 was the Pilot and in the Pilot was Emma’s 28th birthday. Twenty eight years prior is 1983 but Jennifer Morrison’s birthday is in Apr. 12, 1979. 1979 + 28 = 2007. Emma Swan’s birthday can be Oct. 23, 1979.

I believe rumple said, “only she can break the curese. get the child to safety…….”
Have just been editing for FTL timeline & Rump’s never actually says to SW/PC “She can break the curse”, here’s a transcript of the conversation:
Snow “what can we do?”
Rump “we cant do anything”
Snow “who can?”
Rump “that lil thing growing inside your belly” …… Hand slap from PC …..
Rump “The infant is our only hope, get the child to safety & on its 28th birthday the child will return, the child will find you & the final battle WILL BEGIN!”So it seems Emma is meant to get the ball rolling for breaking the curse, but seems Rump’s is indicating more that she will be there to start & fight in the ‘final battle’. At this stage I think the actual breaking of the curse will be someone else’s actions rather than Emma’s per say (she’s the instigator & will get them to the point where they can do what they have to do, but its their actions not Emma’s that actually break the curse) if that makes sense.
