Sorry, but after all of the “Rumple is dying” theories last Season, I just can’t bring myself to highly consider them this Season either. Especially when I recall hearing somewhere that Bobby has apparently already renewed his contract beyond Season 5. I think it was Kat who mentioned it? Besides, Bobby has mentioned in a few recent interviews that he still enjoys working on the show, contrary to fan speculation last Season, and that its a nice steady job for him. Anyway, they’ve had two chances to permanently keep Rumple out of the show, and he stuck around after both. Bobby and Lana seem to be the two biggest actors they want to keep around, as they have the largest fanbases.

That’s definitely true and he’s mentioned how much he enjoys the money (tellingly). But if 5 is the penultimate season then the writers give Bobby one final storyline–and maybe even one he enjoys since he’s mentioned that he likes playing Dark One Rumple-Gold quite a bit–and then kill him with only one season left to go but he’s free to go find other work (like his independent movie career)
I’m not 100% (or even close) that they’ll go with killing Rumple but I’m not sure I’d count it out yet either. Also, can you source the beyond 5 year contract thing? That would kill this dead in the water. Even if it’s from Kat, at least it’d be a rumor to keep tucked away.

Anything would be literally possible.

Right. I guess I was trying to think from the perspective of the writers — if one of your main characters isn’t evolving over the course of a book or series, they tend to become less compelling to the audience, so one strategy might be to get rid of him/her. But that’s obviously truer for a fiction writer than for folks penning a TV show, since there’s the whole actors’ contract aspect of things, which isn’t something you need to worry about if you’re, say, writing a novel. *shrug* I don’t have much time or energy to read stuff about OUAT outside of this forum, so obviously if there’s reliable info about contracts, this discussion is moot.
December 12, 2015 at 8:51 pm #314204onceaholicParticipantI imagine that Emma can take her own heart.
I hope that they indicate that Hook’s grave stone is just a gravestone and that his body is elsewhere with a preservation spell on it.
I also hope that for the sake of consistency that when we get to see her heart, their will be a dark spot in it.

YEAH. Otherwise…GROSS
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"December 12, 2015 at 10:48 pm #314207TheWatcherParticipantHere’s an idea. Hook’s body doesn’t have a preservation spell on it. And when they revive him, he comes back wrong. Because sometimes…dead is better (everyone got that reference, right?). And from there, we have the plot of OUAT S6.
Once Upon A Time Season 6: The Walking Dead Are Coming.
I am slightly kidding…but, like, not kidding. We already had zombies in season 2. And frakenstein’s brother/monster is kind of a zombie. And Maleficent came back as a zombie. It really could happen.

When Dawn tried to revive Joyce, it was strongly hinted that it would make Joyce come back wrong.
When Buffy came back from the dead, Spike’s chip didn’t recognise her as human and he told her that she “came back wrong”

I liked Giles’ subplot from season 7, where eveyone thought there was something strange about him but he was actually normal. If OUAT wants to treat Hook’s restoration as a comedy, having the townsfolk watch him for brain-eating tendencies, I think that would work.
They ran with the wrongness theme on Angel, too. When they restored Darla and Angel to life, she got her terminal illness back, and he became an ineffective warrior.
