I think one of the issues about the father being Peter Pan is that the producers didn’t know they were going to get permission to use Peter Pan. Though i guess they knew they could work something out if they really wanted to.
In order to use Peter Pan & Co, they needed to pay a licensing fee and establish a contract with the hospital that owns the rights. Kitsis and Horowitz likely figured that should the show be enough of a success to get a second season, that they’d then be in a position, both with their influence and finances, to do those things. So as long as they didn’t need to use those characters in their first season, it was a pretty safe bet that if the show survived to the point in the story where they would want to use those characters, they’d be able to sort out the legalities and make it happen. So there’s really no reason why they couldn’t have had a role for Peter Pan etc in mind from the beginning.

True, his name could be Peter, but that could also be a clue that he was a married man when he was with Emma,
Oh I totally think that Henry’s father was a married man when he got Emma pregnant. That’s why I can’t let the Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater thing go, because that character had a wife, and another woman too. So I’ve wondered for ages if Henry’s father would end up being named Peter, and if they wanna introduce Peter Pan, well then, the name fits.
My problem with Bae being Peter Pan is that I would feel like it’s a retcon if he went to a world that did have magic. Now if they had covered Bae being Peter Pan last season or at least made references to the possibility that where Bae landed might have taken in some place magical once Rumple failed his part of his bargain, I wouldn’t think of it as a major retcon. However, I don’t feel that they did,
I guess I wouldn’t really see it as a major retcon.
Blue Fairy: In this world, yes. You see, what ails your father is specific to our realm. His powers do not belong here. You must go where you can escape this wretched curse.
The way I took that was she’s saying that they have to go somewhere where Rumple’s powers are null and void. That’s the whole purpose of going to another world, it has to be one without magic, so that’s where the bean will send them. But with no Rumple going through the hole, who’s to say that the purpose of going through the hole was now the same, so who’s to say it sent Bae to that non-magical world? Obviously Rumple believed that’s where he went, and he may very well have, but if he didn’t, I don’t think it necessarily contradicts what we’ve been shown. Not only that, I’m not sure how he would be able to realm jump, I guess because he’s Peter Pan?
Yeah, Peter Pan could fly from Neverland to our world and back.
There’s a lot of other details like that at least for me that wouldn’t quite work out if Bae was Peter Pan. Assuming that he’s Peter Pan and also Henry’s father, I guess I really haven’t seen any clues that point to Emma being his Wendy at all.
Maybe Wendy is the wife he cheated on when he got with Emma? I know it’s not a nice thought for them to corrupt Peter and Wendy’s relationship like that, so they may not go there, but hey, it’s a theory. Because we know the story of Peter Pan and Wendy in our world, that means it happened in the past, so Emma couldn’t be Wendy.
Or did he decide to leave Neverland and come here, and that’s when he met with Emma? How much time would he have spent in Neverland overall because I don’t want him to be that much older than Emma or maybe that much younger still? Why did he leave Neverland since it seems like a perfect place for a Lost Boy?
He could have gone back and forth between worlds, not ageing, for centuries. Then one day he got on Hook’s bad side, and decided that for his own personal safety, he’d be better off staying in our world where Hook couldn’t get him. So he fled here, stayed here, began ageing, and was just the right age to run into Emma.
I know that they could answer all those questions, but I don’t know it just seems more straightforward and easier just to have Bae have landed in our world and end up in a similar situation like Emma was in being kept in care and putting up walls because of his abandonment issues that way if he is her true love, they’ll have a lot in common that no one else does.
My Peter Pan theories doesn’t necessarily depend on him also being Bae, I’m not a hard and fast subscriber to any one theory right now, just kinda juggling ideas around. The more I think about it though, the more I like the idea that Peter Pan is Henry’s father, and Bae is Emma’s true love who she hasn’t met yet.

I’m still hung up on Emma’s mention of pumpkin pie in the story about him, (and then they had Henry bring her a piece of pumpkin pie too, so it wasn’t just a throw away line), and how it could relate to Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater. And there’d be a certain delightful irony if Peter Pan, the boy who couldn’t grow up, (until he stayed in our world one day and began to age), fathered a child who became the only boy in Storybrooke who did grow up.
In the Price of Gold, Emma also suggests the nickname of ‘PUMPKIN’. Pumpkin being used so often, does make me feel like it is significant: between Emma and whoever the dad is…
Is it weird to admit the pumpkin stuff started me on Henry’s dad being from FL? 😆
If anyone’s seen ‘HOOK’ with Robin Williams, I guess something along those lines could have happened: resulting in Peter Pan being a dad. I think I’d prefer a Neverland-storyline centered around Henry more than an adult Peter Pan being a jaded jerk again. I just don’t want to see Baelfire being a child still. It’s such a cop-out to allow Rumple to pick-up where he left off and, after he makes it up to the kid, he get’s to raise his son and have his true love: where’s the lost time or sacrifice?
July 20, 2012 at 2:08 pm #152301lilredParticipantPeter was some type of realm jumper: he did travel to our world from Neverland for Wendy’s stories. I’m not sure how they’ll explain it: magical hat again???, but he is capable. Maybe there’s a whole society of magical hat carriers who can realm jump?
I could live with an adult Peter Pan being Henry’s father and Baelfire being Emma’s true love. Then I wouldn’t have this hang-up with the message that someone you’ve slept with as a teenage, got pregnant by, chosen to rid from your life, HAS TO BE YOUR ONE TRUE LOVE.

Lite-spoiler
Since we know Emma will be getting a love interest, and so far only know about Hook and Jack joining the male cast members, do either of them have a chance of being ‘the one-for-now-guy’?
July 24, 2012 at 2:05 am #152394hjbauParticipantBut Emma may not have a love interest until halfway through the season.
July 24, 2012 at 2:37 am #152397lilredParticipantPossibly not. I was just trying to get discussion going again.

A lot of people have been speculating that Baelfire could be one-and-the-same as Jack. IF it’s even possible for Emma and Baelfire to become each other’s love interest, I suppose that she could have a fling with Jack, who could also be Baelfire. I’m still not convinced that Baelfire is Emma’s true love or Henry’s dad, for several practical reasons like time gaps and predictability, but it’s an interesting theory.

One, it would be pretty obvious who he is–the hook would basically tell her who he is, and I doubt she is going to be open to any sort of relationship with him. And two, he is probably going to be one of the big villains this season–whether or not Peter Pan appears makes no difference.
They are introducing new characters into the story, so anyone of them would fit the role.
