Emma’s lost control of her magic! How can she get it under control? Act of true love? Emotional touchstone like Ingrid’s ribbons? Acceptance from her family?

Snow is to blame for Emma’s current predicament. “Magic is about emotion” and Emma is feeling insecure about her place in her mother’s heart and it’s all Snow’s fault.
All magic comes with a price!

Or so Ingrid wants her to believe. The harmful stuff might all be Ingrid’s magic, to make Emma and everyone else think Emma is out of control and dangerous.

Emma made the milk bottle boil before her encounter with Ingrid though, so her powers were already going wonky before Ingrid got her all riled up and things got splodey. I guess it could be argued that Ingrid planted the seeds for it all by leaving the clues to remind Emma of her sucky family history though. I don’t think Ingrid’s done anything magical to Emma, she’s just egged her on because magic is emotion so she just needed to push the right buttons and Emma’s own emotions and magic would take care of the rest.
I reckon the Snowflake will be who/what snaps Emma back into the frame of mind where her powers are no longer dangerous. The kid will do something magical and make a magical connection with his magical sister that will make their mother magically realise that she shouldn’t ever be afraid of the big sibling holding the little sibling and all will be magically forgiven.

I was thinking more along the lines of what would be the easiest and most reliable way for Ingrid to manipulate Emma, and that would be to not rely on Emma’s magic at all. Ingrid has been planning this for a long time, and she can use her own magic to make the “accidents” as long as everyone believes it’s Emma’s fault.

Good theory. I really like this since sibling love is at the heart of Frozen. Anna and Elsa’s sisterly love is what helped Elsa learn to control her magic. Ingrid’s rejection of her sisters’ love doomed her sister, because Ingrid chose to live in fear. Emma having true love for her brother could be what helps her stop living in fear and brings Emma’s magic back under control. As for Emma’s baby brother having magic, I think it’s quite possible since when he was born, the lights flickered. As for a baby using magic, there is precedent for this already in the show. Baby Zelena used magic to save her adoptive parents, so maybe Emma’s brother could save her magically. Also, A&E said we’ll find out if baby Snowflake has magic, which I take to mean, yes, he has magic. Rumple did say the sibling bond is worth its weight in magic, so Emma having sisterly love towards her brother could work to balance her out.

I agree.
November 12, 2014 at 6:39 pm #289927CindersParticipantPersonally, I think it should be Henry who helps Emma. If her powers are out of control due to issues of abandonment, Henry should be her touchstone. He is her living proof that love and trust can still be had even if you have been abandoned by your mother.
Emma can’t fault Snow without looking in the mirror at herself.
However, in the end, David should play the larger role. It’s been his greatest fear that he wouldn’t be a good enough father to Emma. Now, when she needs him most, he should be there for her. He is the person who’s life was in the most danger due to her magic. He needs to be there. Before Hook, and before Regina. It’s David and Henry who should be there for Emma.
