I am assuming a lot of Emma fans didn’t like to see her this way. I might be in the minority, but I really did like it and thought it was interesting. Wow! Emma would be this wimpy, scared person if she wasn’t the Savior. In this Wishworld she probably grew up being too protected and cuddled. I would have liked to have seen even more of this version of Emma- Like, what was her upbringing like? What was the family dynamics? What happened with NEAL??? Why was he there and why and how did he die????…..
My take on it is that a Genie Wish really always shows you the bad side of what you wished for. So this reality, and what it made her like, was the price of the wish she made to have never been the Savior. I don’t think she would have been like this under all circumstances.. it was only the consequence of the Genie’s wish magic, which has a tendency to always turn out bad… so let that be a lesson to us, never wish anything from the Genie of a magic lamp.
About Neal? Im thinking he was also there because of something to do with the wish magic. He, and Henry, are so integrated in the personality of Emma, I mean they are part of her, part of what makes her,,, in the same way that being fierce and being the Savior makes her and it was the Savior part that was taken from her by the wish… not any other part of her.
Also what implications will this have for the future?? Emma have just realized that she needs her Savior part to be who she is, or at least that it is a good thing that “The Savior” is a part of her… And now, if Ive guessed right, that part of her is going to be “killed” by the Hooded Gideon stabbing her with the sword… Now is she going to turn back into this shriveled, scared ghost of herself.. like what we saw in the AU?
Intriguing, intriguing, intriguing!! Im very happy with this story… How are we going to be able to wait for doggone it f’n three month?? For this story to continue … its impossible!!

Emma would have hated that life, even if she didn’t know anything different for comparison. Probably realized that her mother had had to put aside her adventurous true self when she took up the crown, too. So, I’m not sure whether FTL Emma was truly wimpy or whether she saw an opportunity to avoid her destiny as queen. I think that’d be a neat mirror to her struggle with her savior destiny in the real world. Emma always seems to be running from something.

For example, the scene where the only solution she dreams up to rid the kingdom of the EQ is to offer the key to the kingdom felt really sinister, mainly because of her pure innocence and the fact that she truly believed that that would have been enough.
Obviously, as pointed out above, we have to remember that she has faced no adversity in this life (or very little). All the things that hardened her, such as: being abandoned and growing up without her real parents, being shipped around foster homes, giving up her son, Lily’s influence, losing Neal etc haven’t happened, and those are the things that have shaped her into the Saviour. So it makes sense that he entire personality would be different (aside from the kind heart aspect which she does have – she cares about people). There are no walls – in a sense, the opposite. She is literally singing and opening herself to people.
I did feel that whilst I am sure she would like a slightly easier life, she seemed to indicate that she would rather the life of a Saviour any day over the life of Princess Emma. I’m guessing the ideal would be somewhere in between.

That’s it. That’s it right there. Like, I get that Emma grew up loved and spoiled but this is still a universe where Snow White was on the run, a bandit, and where Charming had to fight to save her and to take down the EQ. But somehow THIS is the Emma they raised??? I get what the writers were going for but denying Emma any shred of her fire or spunk was…an odd choice.

Adam has been answering quite a lot of questions on Twitter in which he states that they will delve more into the rules of the wish world in upcoming episodes. I think what he is trying to say is that the world is formed around the wish, which is always warped, and that as the world is built around that everything that needs to happen for it to be fulfilled just falls into place. Hopefully they will be more explicit with the rules etc
