ParticipantI’m just wondering, is anyone else like me and wondering if Emma’s role as “The Saviour” isn’t done? They’re still calling her the saviour in promos, and i’m wondering why it is that Henry is so important? I doubt it’s because he’s the child of true love. They wanted him 300 years in advance after all…. while true love is rare, it couldn’t be so rare as to have no boy products of true love.
Was Henry kidnapped in order to bring the Saviour to Neverland?

This has been discussed a bit before, (though buggered if I remember what thread it was in), and I sorta liked the idea, but ended up deciding against it, because I think that Henry is needed in his own right as a “Saviour” for NL. If PP just needed Emma, he would have had Emma kidnapped instead of jumping through hoops to get Henry.
Given that in ASOTM, Felix told Bae that he was lucky he’d get to live, I think that Henry is probably needed in some sort of sacrificial way to rejuvenate NL. In a recent post, PriceofMagic suggested that PP might pretend to be Henry’s friend, until such time as he backstabs him, and I could definitely see that happening. If PP tells Henry that it’s his destiny to save NL, Henry would think it’s the coolest thing ever, because his mum saved SB, and now he gets to do the same thing, and be a hero just like he’s been dreaming of.
As for why PP needs Henry in particular, I think it’s because of his unique genetic makeup. His mother is True Love Incarnate, inherently magical, and I think Bae’s bloodline was required because there’s a blood tie between PP and Rumple being brothers. (Not everyone buys into that brothers crack theory, but it’s my current headcanon.) The magic from Emma, plus the blood from Bae, makes Henry the only kid who ever lived who could do whatever it is PP needs to be done.
Their continued promotion of Emma as “The Saviour” probably has more to do with marketing than anything else. They had to give each member of the JR6 a “label” to make them sound like a snappy little team of avengers, and Emma was already known as “Saviour”. That being said, she is going to save Henry, so she’s technically still acting like a Saviour, if not the Saviour in this case.

KeymasterYes, my theory since the beginning that hasn’t been tweaked much is that PP uses the other boys shadows to keep NL alive, but it’s only a temporary fix. What he really needs is the heart of the truest believer, which is Henry, based on, like Phee said, his status as soon of TL incarnate and Bae’s son.

Participant1. Their continued promotion of Emma as “The Saviour” probably has more to do with marketing than anything else. Hm. I’m not particularly buying that at the moment, simply because they are still calling Emma “The Saviour”. That means her role is not done, at least in my eyes. If she’s being called the Saviour just because she’s going to save her son, then all the rest – Hook, Snowing, Rumple, Regina – should be called saviours as well.
2. Given that in ASOTM, Felix told Bae that he was lucky he’d get to live, I think that Henry is probably needed in some sort of sacrificial way to rejuvenate NL.”
Oh the irony – PP locked Bae up even though he was going to have Henry in the future. I wonder how Bae left Neverland?
3. If PP tells Henry that it’s his destiny to save NL, Henry would think it’s the coolest thing ever, because his mum saved SB, and now he gets to do the same thing, and be a hero just like he’s been dreaming of.
Ok, so that’s a very plausible theory. Thanks for that! 😉
Seriously though, I really think her role hasn’t ended. She has that magic for something – it hasn’t really been utilised yet. It wouldn’t surprise me if she turns out to be stronger than PP, Rumple and Regina.
Also as a side note, I was re-watching SSTTR last night and I wondered at something Wendy said about the Shadow – that it started showing up at the window around the time when Bae came along. Any insights on that?
P.S. Does anyone know how I can break up a quote so that I can write responses in between sentences?

KeymasterEmma is totally stronger than PP, Regina and Rumple because she IS magic. So far as we know, everyone else had to learn it or was cursed to be magic, Emma was born that way. I think she will always be the Savior and that it will always come into play. I think in someway Henry is the Savior of NL because it is his heart that will heal the magic of NL. Even if Emma isn’t all Savior-y in NL, she still has a huge role to play overall.
Re the shadow: people have suggested that Bae “tore” through space and the shadow was finally able to cross over because it followed him.
PS: don’t think I’ve seen you here before, so welcome to our little corner of the world! We’re all mad here.

Oh very true. Do you think PP can pull out hearts?

Agree with all of that. Hopefully her magic will play a big role in the endgame. Hm, if Bae tore through space then were did all the other lost boys come from? When Smee and Hook were talking about him they discussed how PP took boys from other worlds. I know it said that Bae was in London for 6 months before he met the Darlings, but I don’t think PP could have amassed all of those boys so quickly? It sounded as though there were loads!
Thanks for the welcome! I’m a long time lurker. I came on because I need an outlet for my OUAT obsession. Not many other people here in Ireland watch the show!

KeymasterProbably can remove hearts, but I don’t know if he’d go that route (or the writers really) since they did that with Regina and Cora and they don’t want it to get repetitive. I think PP needs the shadow of the boy who has the heart of the truest believer. I think the magic that is keeps you from aging in NL is slowly being destroyed and Henry’s shadow will stop that.

Why would he want a shadow though? A shadow is the absence of light. If they want the heart of the truest believer I don’t think a shadow would cut it. IMO anyway! 🙂

True but NL is very dark, as in the absence of light. And shadows mark the passage of time, like on sundials. It depends on what you want the shadow or heart to do. When someone takes a heart it is either to kill them outright (which may not be very helpful to PP) or to control them (again, maybe not very helpful to PP). But he can remove Henry’s enchanted shadow and use it for NL and at the same time that Henry’s shadow is saving NL, it keeps Henry alive forever because of the magic being restored. Also, in PP myth, shadows are more important than hearts in that they are given much consdieration, PP always losing his shadow and so on.
I think when Regina cast the Curse, it broke the magic in NL so that it began to trickle away very slowly. PP had been stockpiling shadows for about 200 years because he has the gift of sight; he also knows that he needs the shadow of the boy who has the heart of the truest believer. He will attempt to rip off the shadow of Henry but Rumple will step in and sacrifice his Dark One’s shadow to save Henry."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love" -
