Ok, I really need to talk about this show with people. I know there are a few people here who watch Empire too so here goes, thoughts at random.
1) EVERYONE BOW DOWN AND PRAISE GOD FOR TARAJI P HENSON. Sweet mother of god. Where as his this woman been my whole life. I am here for Cookie and her incredible performance. She is a revelation.
2) Luscious and Cookie….DANG. Am I supposed to root for them…???? I have no idea. I get that this entire show is a updated version of “The Lion in Winter” and they are Henry II and Elenore of Aquataine but goodness…do they love or hate each other??? Whatever it is, they are hot together.
3) I hate Annika. Kill her now
4) Jamal…come out already
5) Andre…stay on your meds
6) Hakeem…you are not a gangsta. You are a spoiled little rich boy who doesn’t know the first thing about the street way of life.
7) This show says so much about gender, race, sexuality, family. It’s incredible and I can’t stop watching. Is Luscious really a homophobe or is he more concerned with his image and maintaining this street cred? Who should run Empire after Luscious? Andre is the smart business choice, but he has no artistic soul. Honestly, I’m pulling for Jamal
8) Have I mentioned Taraji P Henson? LORD HAVE MERCY

1. Taraji is killing it…like she is the best thing to happen to television since Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney! Taraji is Queen…end of story! I think I’m becoming more of a #CookieMonster, and yes that’s what she named us officially :), than an Evil Regal!!
2. I’m rooting the heck out of #Lookie (Cookie and Luscious) like….my babies!!!!YES!!!!!! Cookie was the first wife who did 17 years for this man!!!!! That’s love!!!! Separate they were already fierce, together they’re probably unstoppable and the chemistry…I haven’t seen chemistry this intense on tv since Desperate Housewives…..I LOVE LOOKIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. Boo Boo Kitty… this witch has got to go! You’re so spiteful against Cookie that you’d ruin a recovering addict’s road to getting clean, I hope the bodyguard dude saw that, and I LONG for the day Cookie puts her foot down Boo Boo Kitty’s throat!
4. Am I the only one who wanted to hug Michael? I was shipping them, and Jamal I was rooting for you! We all were rooting for you!!! I understand he’s nervous, but don’t let Michael walk out like that!
5. Andre….he needs them meds! And I would really love to see more interaction between him and Jamal…he’s the eldest brother but his scenes are mainly with Luscious…I’m hoping for more of the three brother dynamic in future episodes because lately it just seems like Jamal and Hakeem were all each other had, like where was the bonding with the eldest brother. Even Hakeem got a few scenes with Andre…have we even seen him and Jamal interact one on one?
6. PREACH @RumplesGirl!!! In the words of Cookie: “You need to stop rapping like you from the streets, cause you not bout that life!” I’m longing for him to repair his relationship with his mother, and as for Yoko Ono as Cookie will soon call her, that cougar has to get on with her life because Mrs. Lyon won’t have any of that.
7. I think Cookie should run Empire after Luscious dies, which I highly doubt won’t happen. Somehow, Someway…they’re going to cure this man, it’s going to be a miracle! I can’t see this show without Terrence & Taraji together…the Patriarch and Matriarch of Television right now! I need LOOKIE!!!!
8. ALL HAIL THE NEW QUEEN OF TV!!!
To put my love for Empire simply…I will trade the entire 4B of OUAT for more episodes of Empire!! We’ve only got 4 left, what the heck am I going to do till the Fall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the bodyguard saw it too. And I think he’ll tell Cookie and then Cookie is going to go CRAZY on Boo Boo Kitty. God I hate that girl

Andre is pretty interesting because on paper he is the best man for the job. Well educated, well spoken. He did the “right” things in life. He married well, he got tons of education, he dresses for success. He’s supposed to be Luscious’s proof that a gangster can get out of the projects and make a better name for himself. But without his meds Andre acts a lot like Hakeem when Hakeem is trying to be act like a thug. Off paper, Andre is messed up and trying to be the perfect son but he’s really not. That scene of him in the shower barely breathing says it all.

Exactly…to a blind eye, Andre is most logical choice for the position….he’s worked hard, and has pushed himself to make sure that he’s capable of running the company! He’s the CFO already, but without his meds…he’s out of control. And I’m starting to wonder has he ever hit his wife because when he lashed out at her during the Lyon Family Gathering scene, I could have sworn she said “Don’t Hit Me” when she jumped. His wife really loves him…she maybe a little manipulative but she loves Andre…that shower scene was one of the most tender scenes I’ve ever seen between them two, and I’m really looking forward to where the show goes with them.

Isn’t it great that we all have other shows to enjoy together since Once is on a downward spiral. 😉

My #Lookie heart has just been…Luscious…how dare you! I was rooting for you to win back Cookie, and you had one job, and you screwed it up! The least you could have done was say that Boo Boo Kitty was trapping you!!!! I just can’t right now with him!
And this scene was quite touching…the Lyon Family together singing, oh but there’s just one person missing…ANDRE!!! Cookie…Luscious…I know he’s not a musician or a band player, but he’s still your son! At least OFFER him to come join the family and sing!
I feel really sorry for Andre…no he doesn’t take his meds, but his family treating him like the Black Sheep of the family makes matters worse. No he shouldn’t have listened to Vernon and tried to go behind Luscious back, but I think Luscious could have been far less harsh than he should have….like, you have an issue with both homosexual and interracial relationships…he doesn’t leave his kids much options!!!!
And I would love a scene where Luscious and Cookie treat Andre like their son rather than their business partner! I mean Cookie tries her best, she even said “Make momma proud” but to a blind eye whose never seen the show…you’d think Andre was a business partner instead of they’re son, even Jamal and Hakeem mainly keep between themselves rather than including their elder brother, which is why I’m glad we will have a scene next week with all three brothers trapped in that elevator!’
It melted my heart to see Cookie and Hakeem repair their relationship….I think the boy is finally understanding that his mother has his back, and always will have his back! Just gotta put Yoko Ono in her place like Cookie did! That showdown scene was everything!
And last but not least….I’m trying to find the gif….Jamal coming out! I literally jumped up and clapped for him! And he did it by reversing the lyrics in his dad’s song…what a way to stick it to the man, and I couldn’t help but laugh at Luscious’s face!!! Though I’m mainly rooting for Michael to come back…I guess I’ll give British guy a shot. And Luscious just really needs to get over himself…like Cookie said…the world knows Jamal’s gay, and nobody cares but him! Embrace your son for who he is, and move on!
