In time for the show’s 50th episode, written by Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, we’ll get to meet “Ariel” together with Prince Eric and the sea-witch Ursula. Excitement has been building up to finally meet The Little Mermaid, ever since the character was announced at San Diego Comic Con last summer.
Flounder and Sebastian may not be joining the cast; but what can we expect to see this coming Sunday? The promo and sneak peeks have given plenty of clues.
•The character of Ariel played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher gets introduced with Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) needing some help swimming ashore, after jumping into the ocean to flee from Regina’s soldiers back in the Enchanted Forest.
•The Little Mermaid has already fallen hopelessly in love with Prince Eric (Gil McKinney) and who else but Snow White is better at given advice about the matters
of the heart? In return for Ariel’s help, Snow makes sure she can come to the ball so she’ll be able to meet her Prince again and dance the night away.
•Dancing you say? So how did the little mermaid get her legs?
•There is something very striking to notice from the ballroom banners in the promo pictures, as they all have the emblem representing the sea-witch Ursula depicted on them. Do they worship the sea-witch as a goddess of the seas in this realm?
•Ursula played by Lana Parrilla is most certainly responsible for granting Ariel’s wish of having legs. But what deal did the mermaid agreed to in return, as we all know magic always comes at a price!
•In the SDCC promo they showed Ariel having fun in Storybrooke, while Horowitz and Kitsis announced that we’d get to meet the mermaid in Neverland. It’s been a theory ever since, but has now been fully confirmed by the creators that mermaids can indeed swim through realms!
•Hence why we’ll be able to catch up with Ariel in Storybrooke in an upcoming episode, as JoAnna has been spotted filming scenes with Emilie de Ravin who plays Belle.
•Back in Neverland however the mermaid will first come to the aid of the Nevengers, as they plan not only to save Henry (Jared Gilmore) but also Neal (Michael Raymond-James) who has been locked in a cage in one of Pan’s encampmentsWhich brings us to the Captain Swan budding romance, as the shippers will undoubtedly want to see a repeat of Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook’s (Colin O’Donoghue) scorching kiss.
As mentioned in As You Wish: aftermath things are not that simple as Pan (Robbie Kay) is determined to manipulate the pirate, this time getting to his weak spot which is Emma. Moments after the kiss, as Killian Jones started to feel hope that there could be a future for him and Emma, Pan casually pays him a visit. Revealing Baelfire – Neal is not only alive, but also on the Island – leaving the choice to the pirate whether or not to do the selfish thing and keep the information to himself, or tell Emma and the others the truth.
In “Good Form” we’ve seen the man of honour Killian Jones, who chose a life of piracy instead of serving a corrupt King, who was ready to murder an entire race to win the war. While in Neverland he saved Charming’s life, not wanting any credit or anything else in return, except maybe to see Emma happy – with the knowledge that she wouldn’t lose her father.
As the Nevengers will be trying to rescue Neal, it looks like Hook told Emma and the others the truth. He definitely has Emma’s happiness in mind, but will he be ready to give her up so easily, should she choose Neal?
TV Guide had a chat with Colin O’Donoghue: “It’s a hard one for him because he does feel something for Emma. Especially because he had that relationship with Baelfire, he’s definitely caught between a rock and a hard place. Hook is a pirate, after all, and he’s been so selfish for so long that you would understand his character wanting to keep something like that to himself, but this season he wants to change and he’s trying to be a better person.”
Talking to TV Line O’Donoghue said: “Hook spent 300 years looking for revenge because he lost one woman. Who knows what would happen to him if it happened again? He is desperately trying his best to be a team player, to try and help save Henry. Because he now sees there’s more to life than that side of things. That said, it’s very easy to go back to old habits.”
How will Emma react to being reunited with Neal? At NYCC it’s been made very clear that Emma won’t just be running into his arms, as if the last 10 years never happened. Neal told Mulan back in the Enchanted Forest that he was in love with Emma, but took the easy way out after the curse was broken. If she wants to move forward with Neal, they’ll need to sort out quite a few issues first.
Pretty sure, Hook and Emma won’t be divulging they’ve been kissing passionately in the Neverland jungle as yet, though the truth will undoubtedly come out soon.
Jennifer Morrison talked to EW: “There is a point at which Emma’s truth about both Neal and Hook have to be made public. You can imagine a million ways in which it will happen, and you will not imagine the way it will happen.”Will Tink give her old friend Hook a hard time, as she might see he’s ‘glowing’ now he’s fallen in love? Then again, perhaps Snow, Charming or Henry bust in on another kiss…
Though Colin O’Donoghue said to EW that we’ll probably have to wait until they are back in Storybrooke to find out if there’ll be more kissing… They need to save Henry first. “That should take precedence, especially considering Emma is his mother. So it’s about whether anything can grow from that and within the confines of this quest. So I don’t know.”
Talking of Storybrooke, this week the cast has been seen filming in Steveston, which means come episode 3.10 The New Neverland we’re no longer on the Island!
Thanks to robotic_nerve who shared the picture on instagram, we now know that Tinkerbell (Rose McIver) has joined the Nevengers back home.Henry might have been saved, but it looks like Neverland hasn’t quite finished yet with our group of heroes and villains. Either a new curse will hit Storybrooke or the future of magic is in doubt. It looks like Tink, Hook and Emma are on their way to Mother Superior aka the Blue Fairy (Keegan Connor Tracy) to ask for help on the matter. Everyone remembers the scene in “Quite a Common Fairy”, where a rather harsh Blue clipped Tink’s wings by no longer believing in her. Time to rectify that and start clapping, as we do believe in Tinkerbell!

There is also a short clip at the end with Charming, Hook, Tink, and Emma running.
"We were happy."
"Because... it was born out of true love."November 3, 2013 at 10:19 am #220686HappyEndingsSpectatorHenry might have been saved, but it looks like Neverland hasn’t quite finished yet with our group of heroes and villains. So this is what happens to the BF, magic doesn’t work huh?

Hook doing the right thing once again even though it could cost his happiness.

I think a chance to bond with Milah’s grandson, and son, and the general good opinion of others, but most importantly a regained sense of honor could also be important to what he defines as his happiness. Plus they still think Neal got off the island and knows how (even if maybe he does not actually, sneaky Pan).
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
