this episode sounds amazing! mulan needed something or someone to make her sympathetic to the public and the public needed to see belle NOT being a victim… as for he house hunting part, that just looks like an adorable scene between the charmings,,,

I also think the unwilling test subject is going to be Smee, too. since he is probably still tied up in the basement and all, it makes sense. I can’t see him suddenly getting Moe French–as angry as Belle is of her father (and she has every right to be) I don’t think she would be happy with Rumpelstiltskin for using her father like that.
I also don’t imagine seeing Belle suddenly with a sword. If she could fight, why haven’t we seen her fight yet when she got kidnapped with Smee? I see her role as being something similar like Princess Aurora–she’ll follow Mulan and offer support. The two may talk about something they have in common–lost love? Feeling abandoned? Sacrifice?
I’m probably one of the few people that actually enjoy Mulan’s character. I realy like her loyalty, strength, determination, and friendship with Princess Aurora.
It is about time Snow White and Prince Charming got their own place–I love that the whole charming family is back together, but either they need a bigger house for all of them, or the grandparents need to get their own house for more room.
December 21, 2012 at 4:22 am #165699marilouParticipantas the daughter of Maurice (who is some kind of Lord I guess) Belle, as a child, would have received an elaborate education. horse riding was most likely part of it. maybe a bit of sword fighting… I hope she is not just an Aurora 2.0
December 21, 2012 at 4:48 am #165715magickingdomParticipantI hope Belle isn’t just an Aurora clone either. I want to see her kill something.
December 21, 2012 at 5:09 am #165728elleParticipantWe haven’t ever seen her fight, though. Why suddenly now? Also, Princess Aurora isn’t weak–she willingly went into the dreams to help everyone, stood up to Cora, saved Mulan from getting killed by Snow White, and now is willing to look for a way to save Philip. So I don’t see how she is weak.
Anyway, Belle is someone that always wanted to see the world, to experience adventure. I think her aid will be a different kind of support ofr Mulan than what Princess Aurora offered. But I’ve yet to have see her fight since her release–she had been kidnapped by Smee, dragged away by him after her confrontation with her father, and then chained to a cart.
December 21, 2012 at 5:16 am #165733marilouParticipantthats the thing. so far, we only heard mulan brag about how much of a great warrior but she is she never demonstrated it.
Philip was able to walk by her, take a horse and leave in forest without her noticing it (horses are not the most quiet of creatures) and when the wraith was taking philip’s soul away all mulan did was stood next to Aurora as they both bawled in sync.
Maybe we’ll finally get to see a glimpse of the great warrior.
December 21, 2012 at 5:20 am #165737elleParticipantYou cannot fight a wraith–there was nothing Mulan could have really done. She offered to take Prince Philip’s place, but he refused.
And Mulan has already proved herself well–she twice managed to hold her own against Cora. Once in, Lady of the Lake, and the other in Queen of Hearts. She fought the zombies and was willing to climb up the beanstalk.
December 21, 2012 at 5:34 am #165743snowfallsParticipantThis episode sounds AMAZING!!! I love that the writers are going to give Belle more material to work with. I love her character and I’ve been waiting for the writers to finally give her something to do. I can’t wait to see her hunting monsters with Mulan. 😀

Yaoguai is a Chinese term that generally means “demon”. Yaoguai are mostly malevolent animal spirits or fallen celestial beings that have acquired magical powers through the practice of Taoism. The evil ones are usually referred to as guà i (literally, “freak”) or mó (literally, “demon”) in Chinese. Their greatest goal is achieving immortality and thus deification. In Journey to the West, the demons seek this mostly by the abduction and consumption of a holy man (in this case, Xuanzang).

As for Belle and Mulan teaming up, it must take place between Belle leaving the dark castle and being captured by Regina. Perhaps after Belle’s scene in Dreamy.
Yeah it’d have to be. Belle’s always wanted adventure, and after having her heart broken by Rumple she probably figured she had nothing to lose, so she may as well run off after a dangerous beast. What interests me about this is where exactly it’ll happen. Mulan and the Yaoguai are both Chinese, so was there a Chinatown area of FTL, or did they both come from some other land through a portal, (one of the hat doors looked kinda Asian, from memory)?
Also, how do these events lead into Belle being captured by Regina? Wonder if we’ll see that in this ep too?
Also, this gives Mulan a history with a SB resident, (other than Snow and Emma), and I wonder if they’re setting that up because they plan for Mulan to end up in SB eventually and it’ll be easier to fit her in if she and Belle remember each other?

And poor Smee. He’s going to be Mr. Gold’s new guinea pig isn’t he? GOOD! He deserves it for kidnapping Belle.
Smee would be a logical candidate just because we know Rumple already had him prisoner. What ep were the pics of Smee and Hook from though? Coz that suggests that he escapes Rumple’s basement at some point.
