Oh & since we seem to be now opening up to Welsh fairy tales with Merlin etc. The Welsh version of the Lady of the Lake, has a synopsis of “A fairy tale of a lake fairy and the man who woes her with bread, and the three children they have together who begin the folk knowledge of medician in Wales”
Dr Whale could be a play on words- as in one of the fairy children who brought medicine/healing to FTL.
We know we are going down the Merlin/wizards/King Arthur rd in S2, so this also fits[adrotate group="5"]September 20, 2012 at 4:21 am #154143PheeParticipant@hjbau wrote:
He seems too young to be him though.
That’s my sticking point with the Triton theory too. A lot of it would make sense, but if they plan to introduce Ariel later, does David Anders really look old enough to play her dad? Just looked up his age and he’s only 31. I know merfolk can age differently and all, but I’d find it hard to believe if I’m looking at a 20 year old girl running around SB, calling him dad.

LOL Phee- if we thought anymore alike we’d be one person π
Sadly When I read the story, just like you I read it as “Daughter” instead of Son π³ π π‘Tis encouraging to know that I’m not the only crackpot around these parts. π

Personally A gambler would fit nicely with the Puss in Boots theory I think.
That would fit rather well, yep.

π Amen to that π
September 20, 2012 at 9:19 pm #154169gypsyParticipantOK, ‘tail’ can be linked to Frankenstein : It is the Halloween episode, K&H may use that as a way to bring in Frankenstein and The Wolfman (“House of Frankenstein”-/1944 and the sequel “House of Dracula”/1945- both movies have Frankie, Dracula and Wolfman) The Wolfman has a tail…. could tie Frankenstein in with the Red Riding Hood storyline and Dr Wales attraction to Ruby.
September 20, 2012 at 11:03 pm #154177TheGoldenKeyParticipantAgreed Gypsy. I’ve mentioned in a previous post, on another thread, that there was a 1943 movie, Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman and that both characters are quite often associated together, thus the Ruby connection.
Something else regarding the clue “tail” as in “Once Upon a Tail”. Disney is set to release, on October 5th, a 2012 version of Tim Burton’s 1984 film, Frankenweenie. A tale about a young boy named Victor FrankenSTIEN who resurrects his small dog. Don’t know, but when you think about dogs do you think about tails wagging?
One other thing. In the 2×01 promo, we see a lynch mob gathering outside Reggie’s house. Funny how in all the endings of the Frankenstein movies, there is almost always a lynch mob at the castle.
If K&H were playing by Lost rules, everything sure would point to Frankie. But with OUAT and what we’ve seen with August, not so sure. I can still hope π

September 21, 2012 at 1:32 am #154187gypsyParticipantTheGoldenKey- OMG! I Love Love Love Tim Burton <3 That's a great connection. I seriously think K&H are gonna 'play by LOST rules' - as you put it. There was that interview with the comment "...these are the LOST writers...you didn't think they would keep the time line that linear, did you?" We've already seen flashbacks, so, I'm thinking flashforwards (?), flashsideways (?)...LOST style! Love it! Love it! Kitsis, Horowitz, Lindelof...geniuses! And the whole lynch mob thing- totally agree...just like in Red Handed.
September 21, 2012 at 1:20 pm #154219lilredParticipantSo – just read a post on Tumblr claiming that ‘Once Upon A Tail’ is not the correct title for this episode.
βOnce Upon a Tailβ is NOT the correct title of Episode 5 of season two. Neither is βHook Nightβ the title of Episode 3. Iβve been researching the hell out of this βnewsβ, and both titles seem to be traced from IMDB. This website is NOT an accurate source of information, I repeat, DO NOT TRUST THIS WEBSITE.
Looked around, and can’t find an official source that has titled this episode. Some fan theories about Whale may still work – if ‘tail’ doesn’t factor in.
September 21, 2012 at 1:38 pm #154221TheGoldenKeyParticipant@ Lil’Red, I tried posting on Tumblr but I find the site so confusing. Still can’t quite figure it out, but then, I’m technically challenged π

We seem to have an official title now: ‘The Doctor’.
September 22, 2012 at 4:25 pm #154284PheeParticipantNow that we have the official title, I’m kind of liking the Dr Frankie theory a bit again.
