I recently posted a little crackpot theory that Rumple getting the trident might have been part of however he got the ink, and maybe Ariel’s mother was involved and that’s how she died. But I figured they’d probably involve Ariel in the ink story somehow. But now, maybe not?

They’re gonna tease us with mermaids in 301, and again in 304, and keep stringing us along so we’re just DYING to see THE mermaid.

I really don’t want Rumple to have killed Ariel’s mom, accidental or no. It would bum me out a bit. What if Rumple makes a deal with a mermaid for squid ink, but we never see her? She hides behind a rock or something. All we hear is her voice? That’s what they did to Cora in “Hat Trick.” A stand in actor but they used Barbara Hershey’s voice. And, using the voice, rather fits in to Ariel’s story as her voice is one of her most distinguishing traits!

Maybe this is where Ursula(Regina) comes into play they try to make a deal with her without the mermaid for the ink or if this is the past then they show what Rumble wanted the ink for orginally like how he was able to place it in the jail that he was in.

SQUID INK! LOVE it! I think this ‘Nasty Business’ will now certainly be a Rumple in NL episode that has to do with getting the ink from the squid (aka Ursula). This could be how Rumple met Peter Pan.
