I’m going on a limb and saying that the ring was Pans. We know that Robbie is coming back. We saw no flashbacks between Hook & Pan. Who’s to say that they weren’t friends once and that Pan gave it to him? Or perahaps Hook stole it?

305 was a flashback between Pan and Hook (and Liam and the magical waters of NVL). But since it’s not Papa or Mama Jones, then Pan is as good a guess as any.

Why is it that the one remaining non-cookie-cutter couple from OUAT’s main core is always the one that gets put through the ringer most? Oh wait. This is on a show where being a positive character with decent screentime and any in-show longevity whatsoever requires one to be an upper class attractive straight white person in their 20s or 30s. And where women get almost exclusively redeemed (or damned, cue Milah) through motherhood. Right. I guess we should be shocked Rumbelle has made it this far. Yay! (I’ll spare you my soap box. You know the drill — blah blah classist, blah blah gender normative, blah blah racist, blah blah ageist, blah blah sexist…#whyamistillwatchingthis)

*twitch* *twitch twitch twitch* Ok, Milah would be mildly creepy, and would bring up that whole “oh yeah, by the way” aspect of things — which, Emma still doesn’t know, right? Could be Pan, as @kranen said. It’d be the most neutral option. Or maybe Liam?
But I have a sinking feeling that it’ll be Neal who will have given the ring to Hook during the time of their friendship. Probably because it was the only thing he had of his mum (somehow) and thought Hook should have it. I get a feeling that they won’t pass an opportunity of having Neal metaphorically “bless” the relationship, and that would be one way to do it. I hope I’m wrong.
I’m going to go out of limb and suggest that the ring previously belonged to Merlin. Don’t ask how that ring fell into Hook’s possession over the years, but I have a gut feeling due to Elliot Knight teasing that there’s an important connection between Merlin and Hook. Plus, we saw Merlin make a ring for Nimue in the same episode Hook’s ring was introduced.
