You know the drill.
We are still waiting impatiently for the winter premiere of Once Upon a Time, but we’ve got exclusive scoop from executive producers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis to get us through the next fairytale-free month.
So what exactly is coming up next? We’ve already introduced you to the Queens of Darkness, and gifted you with a romance rundown of what’s next for your favorite couples, so now it’s time to focus on the “turmoil” that both Regina (Lana Parilla) and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) will be facing.

Horowitz continued, “Rather than dealing with the direct aftermath of 4A, we’re instead letting the characters grow from that so they can prepare for what they’re about to experience. And when a new event occurs at the start of the season you’ll see that they’re all once again thrown into turmoil and there’s a lot to deal with and we’re really interested in seeing it play out.”
Finally some slow pacing to allow character exploration and depth. I hope that we will get to see long-awaited conversations, such as Emma confronting Regina about almost killing her as a baby then making her go through a miserable childhood separate from her parents. Any friendship between these two that does not start off with this conversation I cannot take seriously.
“This back half is a lot about what makes a hero and what makes a villain and it’s about trying to realize our happy endings,” Kitsis revealed. “The [storylines] that we were teasing in the first half [of season four] with the book and the author is really going to be in this front and center of this second half. We are really going to be furthering with Regina on her pursuit of a happy ending.”
We already knew this but it is good to know that Regina being more active in 4b is not something that the writers promised then changed their minds about.
You here that, Evil Regals? Woohoo! We know that there’s still hope for Regina and Robin Hood to reunite, but our formerly Evil Queen is going to be on a quest to find happiness within herself — and the best way to do that is by tracking down that mysterious author
]Well, this makes no sense. Seeking the author is looking for happiness externally, not internally. I just hope that this is the article writer’s strange interpretation of things.
“I am excited for fans to see when The Evil Queen first met Maleficent and we get to learn more about their history,” Kitsis said. “And we’re excited for Snow and Regina to continue their friendship.”
Me too, though I think that Regina still needs to apologise to Snow. In 3b, ep 18 she kinda sorta acknowledged what she put Snow through, but she did not acknowledge it enough or apologize. I don’t want to see just Regina protecting Snow (that’s the easy way out), I would like to hear the words ”I’m sorry.”
Even though Regina has been on a path of redemption, with Emma’s it certainly has opened up the possibility of many different magical powers.”
Regina already taught Emma some dark magic in 3A, (and some more in 3B?) but does this mean that Emma will be tempted by the dark side? Will she give into the darker side of herself for a short while, and do some dark magic?

Yay!!!
is there a possibility that Emma could be swayed to use her powers as a villain? “I think that we are going to explore that very question in the second half,” Kitsis answered.
“For Emma we are going to continue to explore her powers and what being a Savior and those powers mean and all facets of that,” Horowitz said, “She’s been very close to people who use magic for good, and with Regina it was people who used magic for evil. Even though Regina has been on a path of redemption, with Emma’s it certainly has opened up the possibility of many different magical powers.”I am calling shenanigans. I really don’t believe Emma becoming evil or even being tempted to do evil will be a real thing beyond, like a one time thing. Similar to Snow’s black heart. It was a tiny little thing and everyone acted like she commited genocide. Nah. I don’t even think it will be what they are making it out to be v_v *crosses arm*

What? …..That….makes no sense. How can she find happiness within herself… by searching for someone to rewrite her life (whether it be past present, or future) and MAKE her happy?

For the sake of plot where Regina is concerned though, all of this has to be dropped. I know it doesn’t make sense. But if the writers want this forced friendship to go forward, these things have to be forgotten even though the fans haven’t. Graham too.
I’m not sure Emma will be going dark in 4B but given A&E keep on saying we’re going to see what defines a hero vs. a villain, it might be interesting to see where Emma fits.
February 7, 2015 at 10:16 am #295497TheWatcherParticipantIt’d be interesting to see JMO play evil Emma. So if it is true than I am interested. I posted this in chat but I guess I will post it here:
A&E kind of imply Emma may turn dark this year… and they also said Hook will have to fight (or protect?) Emma’s heart right? What if Emma actually does get her heart taken and/or corrupted and turns dark… (what if she turns evil because her heart is taken is what I mean)"I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

February 7, 2015 at 12:55 pm #295504PriceofMagicParticipantI wonder if Emma is going to start doing the wrong things for the right reasons. For example, when Regina took the lost boy’s heart to talk to Henry in Neverland. Regina was the “villain” so that Emma and Snow wouldn’t have to be. I wonder if Emma is going to be the “villain” so that Regina doesn’t have to be. It’s a weird heroic sacrifice of being a “villain” so that the others can remain “heroes”.
All magic comes with a price!
