Maybe somebody should have paid more attention to the road. 😈
OH SNAP! 😆

Think you must be thinking of AntBee’s post earlier in this thread?

So I was! 😀 Thank’s for pointing that out Phee. I 🙂

Gypsy brought up the fact that 2KFL is a mathematical equation. As well, the very first printing of the book, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson, was exactly 138 pages long. Greg Mendell is after all the father of genetics. It would be a fun way to introduce that character. I’ll bet he and Victor would make great drinking buddies.
Correction: I like AntBee’s first thoughts on this. 🙂
Thanks. 😀
Maybe he won’t be either Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde of the Wizard of Oz, but alias plus casting call description has me thinking he’ll be the former for now. I’m not really sure how he got to Storybrooke, but if he and Dr. Whale are from the same world, maybe he found out about Dr. Whale meeting up with Rumple and Jefferson, and wanted to learn more about their magical world and thought he was going there but ended up here instead.
Of course, I am pretty sure that they’ll introduce Oz at some point, so Ethan Embry’s character could be how they do it.
That was the first thing that came to my mind too. I love the theories about that on here. My brain just got stuck on the fact that he bred peas, so I’m having weird but funny thoughts about The Princess and the Pea as a tale of genetic engineering gone wrong. Thank goodness there are no connections between that tale and the real world, because that is the worst fairytale princess ever.
lol, I forgot all about that story when I was trying to think of how Gregor Mendel was a hint. I agree though it’s not one a very good fairy tale and can’t imagine them actually using the whole tale. Maybe they could have someone have trouble sleeping and someone else make a joke about them being the Princess, but I hope that’s as far as they go with that story.

“Her” could be Wendy But then again not really because Wendy lives in London. I don’t know…I like the Wizard of Oz theory because he was just a regular guy who pretended to be a wizard… I’m VERY curious about his identity.

So with his name Greg Mendell we have the similarity to Gregor Mendel, father of genetics a man of science.
Mendell is a variant of Mendel (Farsi) which means wisdom, learning. Mendel from Jewish (Ashkenazic) “from the Yiddish personal name Mendl, a diminutive of Man”
There is a good connection to Gregor Mendel whose life was studying the realm of man (genetics) who gained further learning and wisdom.
It also made me think of Science of Man and the connection of David Hume to a Jean Jacque Rousseau]
From what I gathered Rousseau and Hobbes have different views of human nature. Mendell seemed excited to have seen something new (which I took to mean that he seemed someone to see the “good” and believe in the possibilities) whereas the other person on the phone could have been his “Hobbes” who might not be able to see the “good” or readily believe.
That said I was thinking about the phonecalls that reminded me of this movie, The Perfect Host, starring David Hyde Pierce. Essentially the host is more than what he seems. He writes postcards to himself from “his sister.” (Though he knows what he is doing for the most part but imagines everything else–and in one scene he has sex with one of the “guests” and his belief in the female guest being real–from what I gathered–was that it was “real” to him.
My belief is that Mendell seems to be Jekyll and Hyde. It may be a case of have dissociative personality disorder where he has more than one personality who can control him at a given time. Possibly similar to Fight Club where he is unaware or believes it is a different person rather than himself versus knowing that it is an alternate personality. There is even a site that can schedule wakeup calls to your phone http://wakerupper.com/ so Mendell may use a site like this to schedule calls (he forcibly blocks out any action that might contradict what he believes) from the other person–was it a girl?

Love both the Oz and Hyde theories!
(Just wanted to say being overtired I added a R to your name and have such an image in my head)
Also your post sparked my imagination and I then thought of a person/pea hybrid then Violet.. and thinking “Sweetpea! You’re turning into a pea!” This is also a result of being overly tired.
The story of the Princess and the Pea always creeped me out. I always imagined a couple of images. One who would be the spoiled brat who would complain about how the bed was too lumpy, scratchy or there was not enough feathers etc. The other was a poor girl with such a horrible medical condition that she actually got bruised because of a pea… I was actually kind of scared for her life. Imagine what it would be like simply sit down? Her butt would be black and blue..
And that was my thought process when I was a kid..I saw this article but I honestly never understood that it was a type of emotional sensitivity.

I have to say though Once upon a Mattress Winifred is fantastic. I’d love that type of Princess & the Pea. Also peas make me think of the bean stalk.
