“Be careful what you wish for” has never been more pertinent on Once Upon a Time than in the upcoming winter finale.
When the heroes of Storybrooke uncover a weapon than can harm the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), she in turn charges new genie Aladdin with granting Emma’s (Jennifer Morrison) wish to never have become the Savior.
“One thing that people have always wondered is what would happen if the curse was never enacted and Emma grew up in a fairy tale, and that’s what we’re going to show,” executive producer Edward Kitsis tells EW of the winter finale.
This alternate reality, of sorts, is very different from what viewers know happened in the Enchanted Forest. “It is a world where there’s no villains,” Kitsis notes. “The big villain was defeated, there was no curse, and peace and joy got to flourish.”

Who…? Rumple? Because we have shots of the EQ showing up at Henry’s knighthood.

December 1, 2016 at 8:48 pm #331106TheWatcherParticipantEven if Regina is at the knight thing, she still cant hurt them due to Rumpels protection spell which is why she resorted to the dark curse in the actual timeline. So that could be something.

And isn’t there a still of Snow pointing a sword at EQ/Regina/whoeversheis in her full EQ regalia just like in the pilot? Or is it just my imagination?

December 1, 2016 at 9:33 pm #331111RumplesGirlKeymasterYes
And given that all the photos are from one scene, it’s pretty clear that Snow is pointing that sword at the EQ who just showed up (very Pilot-like)

If anything, it is more likely that a second Regina, aka our Regina, has shown up and that is why they are pointing a sword. I don’t think we can simply assume that it is the AU Regina showing up.

Except we still have to rationalize why the EQ is there at all then. We know she is; she’s in the scene–dressed in almost the same, if not the same, outfit she wears in the pilot. The EQ shouldn’t exist at all if there are no villains–as stated in the article–unless they just mean that after the protection spell was placed on Snowing, the EQ was powerless without Rumple prodding her into the Curse.
Except THAT makes no sense either. Rumple was the one who put the protection curse on Snowing because of his long con to find Bae. So we have a few options: No Rumple (he never became the Dark One OR never lost Bae and set out on his long path) OR we have a Rumple but he never managed to convince the EQ to try the Dark Curse and she is simply an evil queen–but not one that has aged given that Snow and Charming are now about 60 and they didn’t age Lana up at all.
The AU doesn’t make sense (what we can piece together at least) unless they rewrite large portions of the universe and character interaction. Even if it’s undone by the end of the episode, this whole “no dark curse” thing requires certain facts of the Onciverse to be undone.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"December 1, 2016 at 10:27 pm #331114hjbauParticipantI am not saying that it isn’t a possibility that the AU Regina is still the Evil Queen. Except Regina could not be the Evil Queen, she could just be Snow’s stepmother. I could totally see the writers having a scene very like the pilot just to trick the audience when the AU Regina ends up being just a welcome guest.
I would say it could go either way. I think Regina looks like she is smiling in the second picture. Like the first is the trick and the second is a smile.
