I could totally see the writers having a scene very like the pilot just to trick the audience when the AU Regina ends up being just a welcome guest.
Oh I could too. I just don’t think it would scan all the way given the costume Lana is wearing. We know they use outfits to show the audience where Regina is emotionally and she’s dressed head to toe in EQ-drag. If she’s a welcome guest then one has to wonder why she’s wearing the outfit she is unless it’s all writers trick which they would totally do, but like I said, it wouldn’t fit with what they’ve shown in the past. But what else is new

Except we still have to rationalize why the EQ is there at all then. We know she is; she’s in the scene–dressed in almost the same, if not the same, outfit she wears in the pilot. The EQ shouldn’t exist at all if there are no villains–as stated in the article–unless they just mean that after the protection spell was placed on Snowing, the EQ was powerless without Rumple prodding her into the Curse. Except THAT makes no sense either. Rumple was the one who put the protection curse on Snowing because of his long con to find Bae. So we have a few options: No Rumple (he never became the Dark One OR never lost Bae and set out on his long path) OR we have a Rumple but he never managed to convince the EQ to try the Dark Curse and she is simply an evil queen–but not one that has aged given that Snow and Charming are now about 60 and they didn’t age Lana up at all. The AU doesn’t make sense (what we can piece together at least) unless they rewrite large portions of the universe and character interaction. Even if it’s undone by the end of the episode, this whole “no dark curse” thing requires certain facts of the Onciverse to be undone.
Maybe is not the EQ but just Regina dressed as the EQ instead? We know Regina manages to get to the AU land because of the “Emma? What the hell happened to you?” scene in the promo.
I am thinking that maybeee Regina is looking for Rumple in the AU but since he’s still locked up …. threatening the Charmings (dressed as the EQ) is part of her strategy to get them to get her to him.

I totally hear what you are saying, that if this was real Regina, then that would all mean something, but it isn’t. And the writers are annoying like this. They think trick writing is interesting.
There are so many ridiculous things that end up being true that this doesn’t even seem that weird to me. Like i said, it could go either way, maybe, maybe not.

My thoughts exactly, but better articulated 🙂
It seems that EQ’s wish would have to be very long-winded and detailed to create this mess of an AU.
Keeper of Regina's bravery
December 2, 2016 at 12:39 am #331129GrimmsisterParticipantIm just seeing it as; The wish- Emma’s wish was that she never became the Savior. That would mean no Dark Curse. And then what we will see in the AU is how everything would play out without the Dark Curse. Regina would still be the Evil Queen, if they explain why she hasnt aged, it only needs to be something like- magic is the best form of youthserum.
I dont see why this AU woudnt work? What facts other than the curse would have to be undone? I mean, yes, everything after the curse would happen in a different way, but that is the awsome and interesting thing about the AU.. and IMO they dont have to explain all the details, only the ones that are important to the current story.
They DOO need Baelfire to somehow have met Emma. Im confident they will have thought of some elaborate way of making that have happened- (lol!!!! does that sentence work? or did I totally screw it up??)

That is the thing in this Au, what wish? Her wish in the pilot? Bc if it is, she never wished she was not savior, she didnt even knew about SB and savior thing.
Now if she wished to be with her family ( parents and son) that is a whole new thing, and obvious in a way would make sense no Neal/bae, bc back then Emma was not neal biggest fan, so maybe in this AU, Neal is still henry father, but is not alive, on SB Emma told Hnery that his father died on a fire, that eh was firefighter, maybe they go with his father was a knight that died at war or something like that.
Of course they can make henry in thi AU being Snowing son or Emma son with someone else and then after if poeple complain, they will say is not real will be undone, they dont care if fans say makes no sense Hnery being son of Emma with someone else, they will simply say, was not real, so makes absolutelly sense."I offended you with my opinion? Ha, you should hear the ones I keep to myself".

How about all of Rumple’s manipulations to ensure that Snow and Chaming would meet and produce a Savior? Now I agree that Snow and Charming would likely have met no matter what cause fate/destiny/ect but with different lead ups–would James still be alive, for example? If Rumple isn’t there controlling everything then that means he never put the protection spell on Snow which means Regina would have gotten her revenge. It also means that Regina would never have learned the level of magic she did (Rumple never got his monster) so she’s not the EQ at all.
