Ever wondered how Robin Hood became the famed merry thief?

Once Upon a Time will finally delve into Robin Hood’s (Sean Maguire) backstory during Sunday’s episode, which also takes a look at how the prince of thieves has been dealing with living in the real world. The honorable archer left Storybrooke when his late wife, Marian (Christie Laing), who was brought back from the past, was stricken with a fatal bout of frostbite. How is Robin dealing with having to leave his new love Regina (Lana Parrilla) behind? EW caught up with Maguire to find out:

I’m surprised Natalie even brought up the set photos of Zelena and Robin in Storybrooke from 420. I think “leaked photos” might be the wrong term, as these were photos taken from fans on set, rather than photos leaking from ABC or the show internally. But yeah, it should have been obvious that Sean wouldn’t be allowed to discuss that. Also of note, Sean confirmed that the in-show explanation for the Tom Ellis Robin Hood would be in this episode.

I’m really curious now what Adam and Eddy come up with, for why Sean doesn’t look like Tom.

I am glad we are getting an explanation (but there are plenty of plotholes that deserve better attention than this one).

I wonder if the explanation will be that there are lots of ”Robin Hood”s out there, to protect the real one’s identity.

The explanation is that Tom was not available. They don’t need to fill in this hole because there isn’t one; this isn’t a plot problem. As a reasonable audience member, I do understand that actors sometimes get other gigs. This is not a plot hole; this is just business. And they’re going to be tying themselves in knots explaining how Marian and Belle recognized both versions of Robin.

Yeah, I agree, RG. If Once were a soap opera, an explanation might be needed. But it’s not a soap opera.
