Following the musical episode, which will feature Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook’s (Colin O’Donoghue) wedding, the Savior will face-off with the Black Fairy (Jaime Murray). “The Final Battle will test Emma’s beliefs in a way we haven’t seen since the pilot,” EP Edward Kitsis says. Interjects EP Adam Horowitz: “We’re going to go back to places we haven’t been since the pilot.” Continues Kitsis: “And we can tell you that we’re going to be completing the stories for a group of people.” While the OUAT bosses caution that there will be death in the final hour, the real threat may actually be to Storybrooke — the Black Fairy created the Dark Curse, which birthed the town. “I would worry about everything,” Kitsis jokes. “The Black Fairy has planned her happy ending, and what her happy ending looks like is probably something we should all be frightened of.”

We know that some of the actors–a lot actually–are coming back for 7 but doesn’t this sound like killing off the Black Fairy means the end of SB which would cause s7 (and beyond potentially) to be a whole new town/setup?

As much as this makes sense, I think it is going to be such a great shame if they dispose of the Black Fairy this quickly. I wish that they had introduced her earlier on in this season and not bothered with Aladdin and Jasmine. She is great. If Rumple has lasted 6 seasons then it seems odd that someone so bad and powerful would be gone within a few episodes.
They could have shown a dark force trying to break through into our world early in the season and played on the mystery of that. That being said, she has certainly brought a much-needed burst of energy and intrigue that is driving us through to the finale.

100% agree. Aladdin and Jasmine and Jafar were such a waste!

I suspect what happened was they wanted to do the Evil Queen, Land of Untold Stories, and Aladdin stuff for Season 6. The Black Fairy and Final Battle might have been the plan for Season 7. Gideon could have still been in Season 6, but perhaps he wouldn’t have been born until the end of the Season. However, they could have combined those plans into the Season 6 we got because 1) They realized that they would be losing key cast members, 2) The show’s ratings had declined, so they wanted to wrap up the main narrative this Season just in case they weren’t renewed for Season 7.

This makes sense. It is unfortunate. S much for Blue to be the big bad after all. Seems like it still is Black Fairy.

That makes sense, and also explains why narratively this year has been a mess. Also why they’ve had to speed through and use more silly magical objects every episode to explain things and push the plot forward. It’s kinda sad, because a whole season of black fairy and Gideon could have been really well done.

That would also explain why they seemed to set up Hyde as the big bad in the S5 finale, and then killed him off just 4 episodes into the season.
