Rebecca Mader and Sean Maguire have both been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming fifth season of Once Upon a Time, EW has learned.

So are they going to drop someone as a regular to make way for Zelena and Robin as regulars?
The most logical choice would be Will as he hasn’t done anything relevant throughout season 4 and was completely absent in some episodes.
If they don’t drop somebody, that’s an awful lot of regulars to juggle screentime for, and since each “arc is only 11 episodes and you’ve got new characters to introduce as well…..unless Emma and Rumple are going to be out of action for a while so Zelena and Robin are filling their spots temporarily but then you still have the same problem when Emma and Rumple do come back into the story.
The two characters likely to get shafted on screentime are Will and Belle, possibly Henry too. I hope they don’t drop Belle as a regular to make way for Zelena, Robin might be taking Will’s place, Belle is one half of RumBelle which still has a big loyal following. It wouldn’t make sense to drop one half of a popular pairing for Zelena, a character nobody really likes.

Keeper of FelixCongrats on Sean and Bex. I think they’re keeping Michael Socha, because he was still listed in the cast for the Season 5 press release. When we got our first Season 4 press release during last year’s upfronts, Michael Raymond-James had already been removed from the cast list.

To be fair, Zelena still has her fair share of fans. Yes a lot of people hate her, just like a lot of people hate plenty of other characters, but that doesn’t mean their opinion is the only one.
Well, well, well….it would seem #OutlawQueen & #WickedSisters are here to stay. The baby issue, I’ve come to terms with it, and not totally alright with it, but can move past it. The Once Characters will get past it!

Sean is certainly no surprise.
Bex on the other hand, is. If only because that makes it a very full cast to play with. Makes me wonder why they didn’t promote Sean last season along with Soccha if they did in fact have the budget (if they did).
I gotta say though, congrats to both actors, but I now fear for Belle and Henry’s already pitiful screen time and meaning to the continued story. Oh and Will of course. But…that seems a given

I’m shocked about Rebecca. I thought for sure that she would just disappear completely after the baby is born. I’m also fearing that someone (most likely Michael or Emilie) will do downgraded. Or perhaps Rumple really won’t wake up and Robert has left (they wouldn’t announce that until it airs).
Yeah, Bex is a surprise, but I actually like her character and the possibilities it represents. Still, if it further diminishes Belle’s screentime I will be sad.
On the other hand, if they get treated as Will did…I don’t see how it’ll make a difference.

Just kidding….but seriously…if Grey’s Anatomy can get at least 10/15 Series Regular Cast Members in every episode, and sometimes even put them all in at one time….maybe Once can do the same.
Perhaps this season will have more group scenes, that way you can at least see everyone in one episode. An example is when Regina, Henry, Robin, Emma, Snow, David, Hook, and I vaguely think Belle were all searching the Sorcerer’s Library together….probably like one of those type of group scenes.

I really think someone’s getting demoted. The thing is though that if it’s Michael Socha, and I really think it will be, that’s going to suck because all he did in S4 was be a wrench in Rumbelle, fill up a jail cell, and punch (and get punched) by Hook. Literally NOTHING else.

Grey’s is a totally different beast than OUAT (as was LOST…to compare: the S4 finale of LOST was watched by 12.20 million people–roughly a 4.9; OUAT S4 finale was watched by about 5.5 mil—roughly a 1.8/1.9 ish. The ad share for LOST was always much higher too.) So comparison to any show is really not fair, to either party.
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Socha is demoted to reoccurring or even leaves altogether and we get one final shot of Will leaving SB to go back to WL via some magical plot device. I can’t seem them demoting any one else, except Bobby and THAT they won’t announce until closer to airtime (and even then, I don’t think it’s going to happen).
