I really don’t know how I feel about all this. It definitely does take away Emma’s uniqueness to say she is just one of the saviors.
True, if there are several saviors, then it makes me wonder what they’re supposed to have been saviors of anyway. Did Jafar curse Agrabah? Was Aladdin the one to break that curse? Also, it makes me wonder if someone else could become a savior figure in the future — maybe Henry or even Regina. It seems like there were a lot of hints in season 5 about Regina being the next savior.
I’ve also long wondered what Emma is supposed to be the savior of anymore. What is her larger narrative purpose now? She’s supposed to be the protagonist, but she’s not even doing that much saving anymore. Yeah, she broke the first dark curse, but what exactly has been her larger function in the story since then? She hasn’t really done that much and seems to have become diminished and reduced. Hook tried to convince her that Emma saved the town from Zelena and Peter Pan, but that was really Regina and Rumple, respectively. The villains seemed more heroic in S3. Emma did kill Cruella in season 4 to save Henry, but then the writers twisted that heroic act as foreshadowing of Emma going dark, which she did in a bid to spare Regina from being the dark one.
I’m sure Emma is going to be questioning that herself in season 6. JMo posted on Instagram this picture on Emma laying on a therapist’s couch with the caption: “Emma has a lot on her mind lately”
https://www.instagram.com/p/BIfBziwhwcI/I’m 100% sure now that Emma is the one who is going to be getting therapy from Archie, which I’m actually really looking forward to. That woman has got a lot of issues to deal with!

July 31, 2016 at 12:25 pm #326252TheWatcherParticipantEmma’s role as savior was always to break the curse and then “the final battle would begin” so maybe she still has some major role left to play as the savior. Whatever that is.
Did Jafar curse Agrabah?
If this took place after Wonderland, it could very well have been Jafar using his genie powers to takeover Agrabah. I mean it doesn’t seem like, as the prince, that he really cared to rule it, but who knows. He could have taken it over and Aladdin helped to defeat him. But we know this takes place before Wonderland… So idk. What makes Aladdin a savior? That is the question.
Aladdin is a “Diamond In The Rough” so maybe that’s related?
I’m sure Emma is going to be questioning that herself in season 6.

Yet true at the same time.

Yes, in one photo it shows as Emma was leaving Granny’s she was looking at and gripping on her hand which means she is suffering the same fate as Aladdin was. I doubt that she will perish actually. She may make it, but it would likely come at a price. Someone would probably take her place.

This.

That happened? I thought his hand was just shaky….I’ll have to rewatch that scene.
it looks like a death sentence.
Maybe the savior has to eventually sacrifice their own life as the price of being the savior. Maybe all magic really does have a price and Emma is magic incarnate.

It does. She lost her first love Neal because he had to let her go to fulfill her destiny, and when he re-entered her life, he ended up laying his own life down for her and Henry. Emma said as far back as season 3 that she is constantly having to pay the price of being the savior and is struggling to get her version of happily ever after. In 3×10 The New Neverland, Emma expressed that she could never just have a day off from being the savior.
Emma: You’re great parents, but you’re wrong. I’m the… savior. I don’t have the luxury of having moments. It’s just not my life. Every time I think I’m going to sit back and enjoy myself, I can’t because it’s never going to stop.
Snow: I used to think the same way.
Emma: It’s different. My magic has a price. The price of being the savior is… I don’t get a day off. Then in 3×12 New York City Serenade, Emma expressed how much she was enjoying just living a quiet, normal life with Henry in NYC — far away from all the madness and responsibility of having to be the savior:
Hook: Alas, you’re the savior, not me.
Emma: You know what I was yesterday? A mother. Till you showed up and started pocking holes in everything I thought was real. When I drank that potion, it was like waking up from a dream. A really good dream. It seems to me like Emma’s idea of a happy ending is just getting to have a normal life with Henry. She just wants to be a mother to her son and live without fear of attack.
Hook: Swan! What the blazes was that?
Emma: A reminder that I was never safe. All that I wanted, that I thought I could have was not in the cards for the savior. We leave in the morning.Perhaps Emma will finally get to live happily ever after by the end of season 6. (Here’s to hoping they don’t drag it out another season).

Just had visions of OUAT pulling a Buffy where Emma makes everyone a saviour. So instead there is no “chosen one” and Emma gets to have a day off because now there are other saviours that can save the day and it isn’t just all down to her any more.

She doesn’t really have one. I mean they can throw around her Savior status all they want but she honestly hasn’t done a lot of saving lately. And now it seems like there are other “Emma’s” even though, again, I don’t get how since Emma’s Saviorhood is very contingent of certain events, situations ect.

Let’s take it all into account shall we…
Season 1: Emma Saved The Day
Season 2: Snow White killed Cora, Emma helped Regina stop the Diamond.
Season 3A: Regina defeated Pan/Got them out of Neverland, Rumplestilskin sacrificed his life and died a hero by killing Peter Pan.
Season 3B: Regina defeated Zelena.
Season 4A: Anna delivered her mother’s letter to Ingrid, which led to Ingrid sacrificing her life to undo her own curse.
Season 4B: Henry undid all of Isaac’s works, Emma sacrificed herself to save Storybrooke from the Dark One Curse.
Season 5A: Regina reminded Hook of what sort of man he really wanted to be which led to him sacrificing his life to undo his planned CharMillStilskins Family Road Trip to Hell.
Season 5B: Zelena killed Hades.
Emma’s saved the day twice…..it’s really about time they stop placing so much pressure on the woman to bring back everyone’s happy ending when that Savior Case probably was really only until she broke the Dark Curse. Everyone has been doing their part, it’s been a team effort since Season 2 on this show.
