Well, isn’t that the thing though? They could. They’ve already gone back on “he was obliterated” and if they really wanted to, they would. Have Zeus snap his fingers or have there be another magical object that can bring him back or have it be a reward for Regina for defeating her evil self.
I just think they can barely get away with bringing someone back from the dead once. If they do it again, death will literally mean nothing on this show. I will bet my life on it that Robin Hood will not be brought back to life.
Archie, Blue Fairy, Rumple, Charming, Zelena, Hook (3 times)…
Sorry to tell you but death already means nothing on this show, especially after we know that they basically live the same life in a red Storybrooke after they die and it doesn’t help that resurrection has no post traumatic effect on them.

Oh I agree there’s a far greater chance he’s going to remain dead than come back to life. But I also thought there was next to no chance of seeing him again given death and Sean’s interviews

Also true.
September 28, 2016 at 3:28 pm #327902WickedRegalParticipantWell Sean Maguire has too much love and respect for his Hoodies to just be doing this while knowing it could crush us if it has no positive ending whatsoever….and this is a show that has broken the “Dead Is Dead” rule more times than they’ve said it counts.
The only way they can stick with the “Dead is Dead” rule this time is if the Robin we knew remained dead and buried, but they bring out the parallel version of Robin Hood out of Page 23. Just like when they killed off Zelena at the end of Season 3, but called Rebecca Mader and told her how she was returning in Season 4. I literally put nothing past these two anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, I still have high doubts about any of this ending on a good note…but with news of Sean’s return, a little of my faith in Adam and Eddy’s limited intelligence in storytelling has been momentarily restored.

True. but this also a show that manages to disappoint us Everytime we get a bit of hope. I am starting to think that the happy ending here is that Robin becomes her mirror to help Regina with something and then departs to the better place forever, both of them at peace.

The only hitch with the mirror thing for me is…we saw Robin’s soul literally explode, disappear, or whatever it did…and he doesn’t have magic, so his spirit can’t just be traveling around Storybrooke like Zelena’s did. Adam and Eddy would have to have a pretty solid plan of restoring his soul in order to make sense of him being trapped in the mirror this whole time.

I think you hit the nail on the head though–we don’t actually know what Robin’s soul did and because A and E never really explain the mechanics of it, they can say that his soul did pretty much anything. Maybe it reformed in some sort of nether realm. Maybe it flew into a mirror-verse and he’s trying to make contact (Slurpeez already pointed out the feather from above). Because this is completely uncharted for the show, and because their world is already so shaky, they can kinda go in any direction.

Absolutely….at this point, you really can’t put anything past this show.
However, if this is in fact the final season…as much as I don’t want it to end like this, I can see Adam and Eddy pulling a stunt like this theory now floating around on twitter:
Alright folks…this looks like it won’t be an easy season no matter which direction it goes! So whose going to be bringing the gin every Sunday night because I feel like we’re all going to need it!

There actually is something potentially in the writers’ favor. When the crystal hit Robin, we just saw his soul leave his body, and then disappear. His body remained behind intact, and his soul could have just gone literally anywhere. But when Zelena uses the crystal on Hades, it turns him into ashes. So Hades was truly obliterated, while Robin wasn’t.
