So much for speculating on that one. I would have least wanted it to be dragged out a little longer than a day. But oh well.
I get the impression Victoria wasn’t supposed to reveal her character, but did so by mistake. Too late now, though.

What other female villain could they add? Mother Gothel? I think we have run through all the Disney female villains… Even Lady Tremaine already appeared. Hmmm. Now Cruella by herself isn’t as threatening compared to what we have seen before but Cruella+Maleficent= EVIL!!!! Can’t wait for it

Lady Tremaine could always return to the parent show, especially since Will Scarlet is in town. My other guess is Ursula. We only got a taste of Ursula in Season 3, so there could always be more in store for her.

I would only be interested in this if Yvette Nicole Brown is playing Ursula. Not voicing a CGI statue Ursula, but a real live action tentacles goddess witch Ursula. This may work though. Regina is screwing with Fate. Ursula seems to be some all powerful goddess who is thousands of years old apparently. Maybe regina’s actions with the book piss her off and she rises from the sea to deal with her and encounters Maleficent who is also upset and Cruella who is…doing whatever it is Cruella is doing.

I dunno how they could get a lasting story arc out of the character, like I said in another thread yesterday I could see her as a one off but that’s about it.
Unless they alter her character from human to something mystical, I guess that could give them more options for what they could have her do?
Regarding Sleeping Beauty, if they plan to have the three fairies with their Disney names, (let’s be real, they’ll use the Disney), they were Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. A character named Fauna could have a nemesis like Cruella who gets off on killing animals.
But I wouldn’t really expect the fairies to have much more of a role than Glinda and Co did? So even giving each fairy a nemesis, I dunno if they’d get proper story arcs out of it.

November 4, 2014 at 11:30 pm #289006MyrilParticipantOUaT is becoming the ultimate goofy Disney villain and heroes advertising show, walking well-trodden popculture lanes and ignoring the richness of the global fairy tale worlds, and that has not much of an appeal to me, though it might work perfect for U.S. market. Already didn’t fancy the Neverland arc that much, and was only slightly more interested in the Oz thing, because of Oz being so rich in tales, which they sorely avoided to make any good use of. I liked Victoria Smurfit in Dracula, and guess she will be a great Cruella, but I just don’t care at all about Cruella at this point. It wouldn’t matter that much, if they hadn’t butchered their characters though, what they did in 4×05 was plain awful IMO. This character news doesn’t get me any excited. Looks like I will be able to offer an open spot on my list of interesting shows to watch for this Spring.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
November 4, 2014 at 11:55 pm #289009CorbinParticipantOkay, I have mixed feelings about this…
On one hand, I’ve always thought that Cruella De Vil could be a formidable foe for our Heroes and Villains (yes, that was a 4×11 pun). She’s a woman who doesn’t have magic, and uses her coniving wits to achieve her malicious goals. I find that sort of thing intriguing.
On the other, I really am getting tired of the structuring of this season. The first half was the “GIVE US RATINGS AND WE’LL GIVE YOU FROZEN 2: THE TV VERSION,” which while somewhat-memorable (I’m particularly fond of the CGI for Pabbie and the casting, plus the psychotic nature of the Snow Queen), has led to the complete essence of some of our favorite characters (Emma, Rumple, Regina, Snow, even Henry!) to be completely destroyed in favor of promoting their self-proclaimed “most expensive fan-fiction ever.”
Now, with two new (and somewhat old) villainesses and possibly a third one on the way, we’ll have to balance screen time between them, our core characters, former guest stars, and possibly some remaining Frozen characters. THEN we have to find the author of the book.
I find this annoying, as it seems like A&E always have giddy smiles on their faces while apparently oblivious to the fact that they’ve reached their saturation point (in my opinion, 3×11). They’ve gone and a.) retconned many plot points b.) broken rules established in the first season then tried to reinforce those rules afterwards and c.) have destroyed characters and character arcs in favor of blatant fan service and for the sake of their plots. As a writer, this is unjust both to the fans, the actors, and (arguably most importantly) the beloved characters.
Now, to tie this back, while I’m happy that a villainess that I’ve appreciated is coming to show, I’m unhappy in the manner of which she’s coming. With so many characters, when are we going to get to the point when enough is enough, and we finally get our main, non-recent movie characters back in the forefront of the action?
Keeper of Thor’s Hammer, Will Scarlet’s Genie Bottle, Emma’s Gun, Emma and Henry’s Moment at the Castle, Cora, and the infamous Family Tree!
