Will the season premiere of Once Upon a Time explain the absences of departed cast members like Snow, Charming, Emma, Belle and Zelena? — Jamie
Just because we’re likely not going to see certain people (very much or at all) next season does not mean we won’t hear about them. It’s “absolutely” the plan to find out what’s going on with them, according to EP Edward Kitsis. EP Adam Horowitz adds: “Yeah, we fully intend on that.” So at least there’s that.

Some of the spoilers make it seem like they will, while other spoilers make it seem like they will explain the separation. The spoilers just seem really inconsistent. Though, this is probably just based on old spoilers before they even started writing the episodes.

How much are we betting that this won’t actually happen?
June 30, 2017 at 3:35 pm #339888RainbowParticipant(very much or at all
This is telling, so the actors that left wont appear much or at all, i would guess Jared may appear for Flashbacks, and JMo will appear in the premiere but the others may never appear again.

Well no, is consistent, is like S1, they had cursed memories, but the viewers would see in flashback what happened to the characters in the past, so in that case they can have cursed memories, but the viewers will have a explanation of what happened, or even if they have cursed memories once they get their memories back they can explain by talking about it, like saying Zelena went with her kid to Oz, or by destroying RB, by saying the S6 Gideon prophecy became true, whne he said that Rumple would choose evil and would destoy their family, they can say that Rumple became even more evil and Belle went away with the kid.

June 30, 2017 at 3:48 pm #339889MichaelBlockedI honestly don’t think we won’t see them all back again on the show no way, especially if the show ends this season. They’ll be back for a couple episodes in 7B especially the series finale.

I’m wagering we only get three sentences of an explanation, only in the season premiere and we won’t hear nothing else.

That’s my thought as well. Adam and Eddy didn’t have any solid ideas yet but they knew they’d address it somehow.
Though, this is probably just based on old spoilers before they even started writing the episodes.
I think they will but I agree with @WickedRegal that it’ll likely be some sort of exposition done rapid fire style. The only thing we might briefly see is Henry leaving SB and saying goodbye to Emma, Regina and anyone else OUAT can get for the premiere.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 30, 2017 at 6:03 pm #339894hjbauParticipantThe only part of this blurb that is real is that they asked if the separation would be explained and the answers that are in quotes which is, “Absolutely,” and, “Yeah, we fully intend on that.” I think those were the responses given in a previous interview, so i don’t think this is new information at all.
They could always just one line this out too. They are in Storybrooke, happy. Where everyone else is doesn’t have to be a big part of the plot or it could be the biggest part of the plot.
June 30, 2017 at 7:02 pm #339896RainbowParticipantThe thing is that besides JMo that has a contract for one episode, all the others and even JMo after the said epi , dont have anything connecting them to the show, so if they have other projects in shows and movies, is not like they will say no to them, just to appear in like 5 minutes scene in ouat, bc again like i said before all their contracts are over, they dont even have recurring contracts, so they may find other jobs and never appear again for lack of availability.
