Did they really do something that horrific. If the Evil Queen is one of the people she was trying to get away from, they have do have done something pretty bad to compare to her. I wonder if they’re over-hyping it. I hope they don’t sacrifice Snow and Charming’s characters for a shock reveal.

I really hope so. Because making Snowing’s character suddenly as evil as people who murdered villages of peasants and tried to take away happy endings of everyone is a giant retcon. The worst kind….the kind that is only done to elevate a character the writers find more interesting
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 6, 2015 at 10:56 pm #297771MatthewPaulModeratorThey’re on record for saying the theme they want to explore this Season is how the traditional black and white view of heroes and villains is skewed. As others have said, I do wonder how bad Snow and Charming’s secret really is. It’s apparently so big that they’ve been so busy hyping it up, and only select journalists (the ones who attended the in person screening in Burbank) got to see both 412 and 413 ahead of time. That’s why we’ve gotten less teasers from the pre-premiere screenings than we normally would have gotten. Seems to me that they really don’t want to risk this big Snowing secret somehow leaking.

That’s all well and good but it doesn’t match up with some things we’ve seen/been told in the past seasons. Now, I am going to wait to see 413 before making judgement but saying that whatever Snowing did is *as bad as* stuff Regina and Rumple have done (the list of crimes including manipulation, lying, murder, world breaking, and rape) is, to be perfectly frank, preposterous. I am all for nuancing their heroes and their villains but casting that much shades on Snowing is nothing more than elevating the fan favorite villains over the “we’re bored” once heroes.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 7, 2015 at 3:51 am #297777ry4christParticipant^Yes. Well said. A and E seem to have a much harder time writing compelling stories for their “heroes” than they do for their “villains.” But really, I don’t think Regina’s long redemption arc would have be/would be as effective if Snowing had set the standard for what it means to be a hero (at least what it means according to the show).
March 7, 2015 at 10:08 am #297779SlurpeezParticipantWhile I don’t think Snow and Charming were anywhere near the level of evil that the Evil Queen was in the past, it is possible for Snowing to have done something as bad in an effort to protect Emma. I think Snowing knew about a prophesy that Emma would have the heart with the darkest potential and that a child named Lily would be the anti-savior to their daughter, the savior. It’s possible that Snowing are responsible, either directly or indirectly, for banishing Lily to our world (perhaps with the help of Blue or the Sorcerer), thereby separating Lily from her parents (aka Maleficent). That act, though done in an effort to protect Emma, would still mirror how Regina tore apart entire families by casting of the dark curse, separating not only Emma from her parents, but countless other families as well (e.g. Hansel and Gretel from their father, Jefferson and Grace, Owen and his dad). By Snowing separating Lily from Maleficent in a misinformed effort to protect Emma, they were effectively denying Lily and her mother a happy ending, in a way which is similar to Rumple and Regina denying the Charmings their happy ending with Emma.

While I think that is entirely possible and the way the show is likely to go, it flies in the face of Snow and Charming of S1 (especially Pilot Snow)who thought hope was lost and that Regina would win *until* the BF presented the magic wardrobe idea. If they knew how to send children and others away into other realms then the question becomes what the HECK were they waiting for when it came time for Emma and Snow to go?

Well, it wouldn’t be the first time for writers to retcon S1. The S3 finale was nothing but a huge retcon of Snow Falls, S1E3.
