Wow, just got through reading the whole thread……… 😆 😆 😆
I think some people like using big wooden spoons for stirring & others are uber passionate about their fav’s (for whatever reason). If there is one thing this show does, it is NEVER have a bad guy who is simply ‘pure’ evil- they always have a reason for being who & what we see them as.
Regina was the big bad, then we found out her true loves heart was ripped out in front of her by her mother, because a 10yr old motherless child couldn’t keep a secret from said mother + Rumple manipulated her- it doesn’t excuse all the lives she’s destroyed, taken & murdered in getting her revenge, but she is still redeemable.
Rumple was the biggest baddy of all, until… we find out he only became the darkone out of fear of loosing his son, then choosing power & cowardice over his son & that all his actions from then on, are to get back to his son. Again it doesn’t excuse the hundreds of lives he’s destroyed, murdered & taken in his obsession to get back to his son & we all know he is redeemable.
Hook; all we know so far is he has shot Belle in the shoulder, ripped out a heart & given it back again & done what he’s had to, by way of lying, flirting, cheating, charming, stealing, flirting, double crossing & oh, flirting- so being a pretty typical pirate, all in the name of getting revenge on the man who ripped his wife’s heart out in-front of him.
Hook to has been honest about who & what he is- a pirate, so it goes without saying (I assume), that you watch your back 😉
Personally I like him more because he has a moral code (makes him more complex IMO)- it might be hard to follow sometimes but it is there, unlike Regina & Rumple, who have killed their loved ones outright to get what they wanted. You left out Cora, right? Because they haven’t introduced her backstory yet, and I’m hoping they make an exception with her and have her start off with evil tendencies only to be manipulated by Rumple later on, because she really does resemble a psychopath/Sociopath. Also I agree about Hook. Personally I see Hook as more of an Anti-Hero, even though the writers are trying to make it that way he just doesn’t seem that way. Most of what he’s doing Is because he hates Rumple, Pretty similar story to Reginas however Regina was much more extreme and Brutal and she has killed more people in her normal lifespan than Hook has in his 300 years, and that goes without mentioning Rumple and Cora, Hook just ain’t in their league if he’s considered a villain.

It’s just… I don’t want to use the word, but I feel like I have to: dumb. It’s only there to connect to fangirls who’ll just go: OMG! CaptainSwan! Hook is just Sexy…!!!
Sorry for the ranting, but that’s what I feel about it.February 14, 2013 at 1:48 pm #173256the jolly rogerParticipant@TheLadyBelle wrote:

Sorry for the ranting, but that’s what I feel about it.Ok, I understand – that’s how you feel. But just letting you know that not all fans are like that, I for one am not. There are other reasons that I would like them together – but don’t worry I’m not going to bore you with them 🙂
And also, just keep in mind that there are probably many young teen girls who are watching this show who like Hook because they think he is, as you say ‘sexy’, but they’re teens. When I was a young teenager I was exactly the same, and pretty much every other girl I knew was the same. So when you have young teen girls watching a show with good looking men on it..well…what do you expect 😆
Anyway, I’m not being mean, I’m just asking you to keep that in mind 😀February 14, 2013 at 3:54 pm #173288theladybelleParticipantSure, I understand. But I just have my own thoughts on the matter that may be different. 😉

I would like Emma to end up with someone who isn’t Neal or Hook.
But I want my Hook fix! 😥
I don’t see Hook wanting to play happy families with Emma and Henry. He only wants Emma. However Henry is a big part of Emma’s life and will always come first. Hook is never going to convince Emma to ditch her son like he did with Milah. At best, if Emma and Hook do pair up, there will be some delightfully awkward scenes between Hook and Henry where Hook has to play nice and Henry making life extremely difficult for Hook.
Neal’s betrayal of Emma has affected her life very deeply for at least ten years. That’s not something that is going to be easy to forgive and forget. Fairytale land may run on true love and finding each other but the real world doesn’t. Henry may want his parents together but so do many kids in reality. Having Neal and Emma on good terms with each other but seeing other people can portray the fact that having your parents split up isn’t the end of the world as some kids may think it is.
Emma needs someone who isn’t going to or has already hurt her. How can she trust Neal after what he did and how can she trust that Hook isn’t going to stab her in the back when it suits him? (she can’t hence why she left him at the top of the beanstalk). Trust is the foundation of all good relationships. If there is no trust, then the relationship will eventually crumble. Emma may try and date Hook and she may try and give Neal a second chance, but at the end of the day, her inability to trust either of these men will prevent any relationship with them from going long term.
All magic comes with a price!

There are only small fish in those waters 😉
Anyway to get a pirat fish is too easy, just show them a bit of flesh and they’re hooked.

I think Emma and Hook could work (and so could Emma and Neal), but not right away. I agree that Hook has issues. Daddy figure? I think he’d be more like a big brother who would accept Henry is on for the ride, and would “befriend” Henry while needing to mature a lot along the way (which could make for some great drama and moments of comedy). I’d like to see them explore that relationship and it’s possibilities, but I agree he (and Neal) aren’t ready yet. I think either of them could be later given time, development, and some aha moments.
February 14, 2013 at 10:42 pm #173398PriceofMagicParticipantIf Henry finds out Bae’s his dad, making Rumple his Grandpa, then he may start having ideas about one big happy family get together. Hook’s revenge quest against Rumple would hurt that, which in turn would hurt Henry. Emma wouldn’t allow that.
Emma’s and Hook’s relationship is doomed to failure. She wouldn’t want him to take revenge against Rumple, and he would resent her if he was forced to give up his revenge.

Here’s the twist. I’m starting to wonder if Bae is who we think he is (hint, hint). 😉 If he is Neal though, then I’d say you’re right.
