I had the privilege of speaking with the “Once Upon a Time” creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis about Neverland and Peter Pan at a press roundtable during New York Comic Con. If you haven’t already, check out my interview with Jennifer Morrison! “Once Upon a Time” airs Sunday nights at 7 on ABC.

Q: Is Neverland and what this season’s going to be pretty planned out?

Edward Kitsis: Yeah, in between seasons, and we got this from Damon and Carlton when we were on Lost, we would do mini camps, so between each season of Lost, we would spend three weeks plotting out what we are going to do in the next season. So last year we knew we were building towards Neverland, which is why we introduced Greg and Tamara, which is why there is an episode where we are like “What is this home office?” and at the end, you realize the home office was Peter Pan, which set us up. So, for us, we know that these eleven episodes are the Neverland tale, and so this year we are approaching it like two seasons. Season one is Neverland, and season two?

    Adam Horowitz: You’ll see.

EK: You’ll get a hint in episode 11.

You are definitely taking a different route with Peter Pan. Mostly we are just being told how bad he is, even Hook calls him a demon. Are we going to get to see more?

    AH: Yes.

EK: Yeah, I think just by virtue of what he did to Emma, and he said to her, this map will tell you who you are. He basically said all the growth you thought you made? You didn’t, and I just called you on it. And by the way? Your parents are going to be orphans, and we see that Prince Charming is dying. So he’s pretty scary to me like he’s already starting playing hardball, but it’s only going to get meaner and nastier

AH: But I think we are going to see his relationship particularly in the past with Rumple very soon, and so when we saw him at the end of season two, Rumple was saying this is the one guy you should fear. I think we are going start to get a real taste of why.

EK: And I think we are going to find out what would make him want to be young forever.
