I thought of 2 ways that Belle could get her true personality back.
1- Regina said that the fail-safe will make Storybrook disappear & erase it like it never happened. The false personalities are part of the town, so they could be erased along with the it. The characters could still remember their false memories, but the false personalities won’t be able to control them anymore.
2- Storybrook was part of the curse & it’s specific to our world. Anyone can enter the town now, so that makes it part of our world. The false personalities are part of the town & therefore part of our world. But maybe if the characters are able to use the beans & travel to another world, the false personalities would be force to “stay” in our world (Storybrook). The characters could still remember their false lives, but the fake personality itself won’t be there to control them.
So I think that maybe Belle could be “un cursed” this way. There’s also the true love kiss option of course. But Rumple’s Dark One’s curse didn’t break after they started their relationship, so maybe it won’t get rid of Lacey either? But still an option of course & the most preferable one I guess because of the nature of the show. But anyway those are my 2 cents. 🙂

I think for TLK to happen, Lacey has to witness Rumple doing something utterly good (like letting Henry go even though it means his undoing) followed by Rumple telling Lacey they can’t be together because he wants to be good and wants Belle, not the easy path of darkness. I think that will stir something inside of her and she has to instigate TLK. I keep the faith.

This is a “fine point” of the curse that I don’t think has been explored. I somehow doubt that it would be that easy for Rumbelle. I don’t think there has been any indication in the writing thusfar to lead us there. The way the show is being written points to characters working these things out in a more relational way, not by flipping a switch (curse-wise). I too am keeping faith that the catalyst for TLK will be a moment of radical goodness on Rumple’s part. Emilie said repeatedly that Lacey isn’t bad, so maybe she will be reached through Rumple’s goodness, even though she wasn’t in “Lacey.” “If true love was easy, then we would all have it.”
April 29, 2013 at 4:25 pm #189700daybreak_fairyParticipantI thought about those options as possibilities because I’m still wondering why the Dark One’s curse didn’t break after Rumple & Belle started their relationship in Storybrook. I mean, they kissed & they truly love each other but he is still the Dark One… why? Is there something wrong with their TLK? 🙁
April 29, 2013 at 4:53 pm #189712KebParticipantI think that there can’t be any holding back from either party for TLK to work. The one passionate kiss between them happened right after Rumple made a promise he was already working out how to break.
But I think too that the DO curse is a little diluted in SB. Not quite sure how–just that Mr. Gold seems to balance Rumplestiltskin out a bit. And things like getting stabbed outside the magic area can still affect him within the magic area. Stuff like that.

So if TLK happens & Belle is healed, then the Dark One’s curse should break too right? So that would mean that Rumple should become an ordinary man. That could be a possible story to follow on season 3…
April 29, 2013 at 5:32 pm #189729KebParticipantI’m still terrified that Regina would have used Belle as part of her failsafe plan. She did use Mal, so…

This isn’t supposed to be mean spirited but, is Belle important enough to Regina to be used by her? Normally she uses Belle when she knows it will affect Rumple, but she really only sees Belle as a tool against one person, not as part of her overall plan.
