Guys help a girl out. I can’t put some pieces together. Rumple says that he got “fairy magic” (right?) to turn August back into wood during the torture scene. But…where did he get fairy magic from..?
He said he paid a visit to their “ample supply of magic.” So I guess he stole it from their convent?

Okay. I can buy that he POOF’d in and POOF’d out
It was Poseidon who said that Ariel brought him to the portal. 34 minutes in: ”a young mermaid found me and brought me to a portal” Once Ariel tells him of Ursula’s wherabouts, he should have been able to create his own portal from where he was standing when Ariel approached him. Instead, he had to be brought to one, which indicates that he could not create his own portal between where he was and SB.
Actually, now I think about it, he was definitely written as a weak god:
1) because he can’t create portals between where he was standing when Ariel approached him and SB
2) He could not take shell out of Hook’s hand by magic
3) Ursula having tentacles made her more powerful than him. Even if it wasn’t A and E’s intention to make him look weak, this kind of writing to ensure that the plot moves forward does indeed not make him look like the all-powerful deity that he should be.
Okay I think I can clear up some of my own confusions here.
-The trident might contain much of Poseidon’s power, and it disappeared when Ursula used it, so this could explain why Ursula became more powerful than him…it had nothing to do with the tentacles.
-Based on no in-show evidence, I am going to make a leap in logic and say that the reason why he could not create his own portal to our world after Ariel told him where his daughter was, was because he didn’t have his trident.
Nonetheless, he still could have whisked the shell out of Hook’s hand while they were both on the ship. The moment of weakness was needed for the plot to move forward, but I did not find it believable so it irked me.

QUESTION
Did we find out the mechanics of how exactly Ursula the ex-mermaid-turned-squid/octopus was banished to our world????

I recall Adam and Eddy mentioning that how Ursula and Cruella got banished to our world will be explored in its own episode. My guess is, we find out in the next episode, as it’s a continuation of Unforgiven’s flashback.

Thanks.
It was mentioned in this episode, so I assumed that if they were going to explain it all it would have been in this one. Glad to know that it will be covered.
