Yeah, but the SHOW isn’t throwing her characterization under the bus here–the fan theory that Belle’s in on it (in any capacity beyond a willingness to help Regina) is what’s throwing Belle’s character under the bus.

There is every reason to believe what we were shown: Regina took Belle’s heart shortly (perhaps immediately) after Belle asked how she could help, orchestrated a meeting between her and Rumple, and either controlled her throughout or stepped in when it got sappy and she was ready to show her hand. As of the end of the episode there is NO reason to believe that Regina does not still have control of Belle’s heart, or that Belle has any idea what happened in the forest.

As of right now, there is no reason to close this thread. It’s a lively debate but so far hasn’t moved beyond the pale of what we allow here–no swearing, no untagged spoilers, and while people are passionate, thus far it has not gotten personal. However, I would say that at this point everything that needs to be said and pointed out has been said and pointed out. I will gently encourage everyone to move on OR to start a thread for HeartGate instead of using one that is supposed to be about reactions to the episode.

Okay. I’m just tired of people repeatedly not countering the points that I’ve made but dismissing the points that I’ve made, like this:

I understand that some people don’t agree with my opinions on this topic, and that’s fine. Disagreement makes discussions interesting when it stays polite. There’s no need for people to be rude, though, like in the example that I quoted.

Since Regina does have Belle’s heart and won’t be giving it back until Robin is safe as an insurance policy, the writers have a golden opportunity to utilise Will, who actually has experience with being heartless.
