YOU know that A&E expect adoration from their fans …. not to have us pick apart with accurate logic their stories. I think they have nightmares if they ever came here and read what everyone writes…. I do think they must lurk here sometimes. . .
There are people who write them criticism on Twitter, but they just treat it as if it is “hate” or shippers being disappointed and dismiss it.

March 28, 2016 at 1:26 pm #320183PheeParticipantThis ep felt like it draaaaaaagged on to me. Cruella was probably the one highlight. Actually, Hades was OK too, he’s fun, not as much fun as Cruella, but still fun because Greg Germann is doing a great job.
I thought Hook never drank or gambled until Liam died. Cause it wasn’t part of Good Form.
Yup, Hook being a drunk in thse flashbacks felt like a total retcon of his character.
Also, wasn’t that ring that Hook gave to Emma apparently from some guy he needlessly killed? But now suddenly it’s Liam’s lucky charm instead? Am I mis-remembering, (a possibility, because I don’t go back and re-watch eps these days), or did they totally change the story of the ring?
While I’m glad that Emma was blamed for being selfish. I wish it came from other characters and I don’t feel like it was portrayed as something serious that she needs to learn from, basically it was used as a “clue” that something is wrong with Liam and not as observing some kind of flaw with Emma. By the end of the episode, Emma didn’t learn anything or didn’t grow as a character.
In addition, while I agree that Emma has become selfish, I still think that she is too good for a murdering jerk who still keeps things from his victims. I really don’t get why they need to portray Hook as a martyr, he is not a martyr, he has done horrible despicable things, stop whitewash him. It’s as if they are insecure about what the viewers think about him so they have to shove what a great guy he is down our throat.
Moreover, the excuse of Hook doing all those horrible things because Emma pissed him off is not acceptable. This is yet again a depiction of the battered wife syndrom.
OMG ALL OF THIS. Like, forreal, not enough THIS in the universe to properly convey HOW MUCH THIS.

And that’s Adam and Eddy’s problem right there…everything isn’t about shipping!
No one is happy with the plot inconsistences, world building issues, history retcons….it’s hard to watch a show that constantly contradicts itself, and when it’s brought to their attention, they dismiss it as absolutely nothing.

Nope, this wasn’t one of the rings he killed a person for. He specifically said that the ring belonged to Liam back in “Birth”, so this is consistent.

Because obviously you know what they are thinking…man I hate to keep coming to the writer’s side here, but sheesh. Nothing was said in this episode that made me feel all battered wife syndromyyy…I mean I guess if you’re only looking for faults, you’re going to find them in this show. And I knew this wouldn’t be a popular episode with most SF people on here, and I expected not to like this episode either, however, I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. And just commenting on what RG said, I don’t mind the hiding spot for the pen. No one would look there, and it only lit up because Henry was in the room. However, the episode certainly had its flaws….
7/10
Liked:
Hades. He is awesome. And I actually don’t mind the hair anymore. It’s ridiculous at first, but once the audience associates that with the character, I think it makes him unique and I find it rather humorous. And since Hades is so good at walking the line between funny, and mischievous, I’ve come to enjoy his quirks, which include his silly blue hair, if that makes sense. For me, it doesn’t make him any less menacing. But that’s just me.
– Cruella- Uhh she is amazing. Everything from her sexual advances, the handcuffs, the booze, the way she carries herself, the speeding, the not liking the swampy woods, the Bambi’s mom’s fur, it’s all just great.
– Henry telling everyone. I would have been super annoyed if Henry did a bone head move again and saved Cruella without even telling his family. Glad that did not happen. And the Charming talk was great.
– Hades blowing over Captain Silver. Pretty cool I thought. Pretty fitting way to kill someone considering his character.
– Heaven is not Olympus. I mean, duh. Glad it wasn’t. Would have been kinda stupid.
– The Zelena reveal. We knew it was coming, but if I didn’t know, I would think it was cool that they were tying her into his story. Don’t think I would have saw it coming.
– I enjoyed the macguffin in the episode. It’s clever and original I thought. Who would think that “the eye of the storm” was an actual object and it once again fills in a gap of time we did not know, which was how they ended up in the Royal Navy.
– I like they are telling us more about Hades….now we know he is a God. And we know Heaven isn’t just Olympus. And it looks like we may get Zelena’s connection to Hades in the next episode. They aren’t waiting around and stalling which I like.
– And I do love that the book is so important again, and Henry being the author is important again…..
Mixed:
– So there is a well? And it leads to the rivers in Hades’ lair?
– Liam telling Emma she was selfish. This bothered me like it did with everyone else. This particular part was great. What wasn’t great was what happened at the end of the episode.
– How did the book get into the UW exactly? Did I miss something? It wasn’t broken like the pen was…
– No Rumple. But I mean, he didn’t have a part in the story so I mean, I understand why. Still, not my favorite when he’s not in it.
– As Keb pointed out, Hades doesn’t want souls leaving, and wants souls badly enough that he will make a deal with Liam too wreck the boat on purpose just to get more souls? But then he just sends Captain Silver to a fiery grave all willy nilly? Doesn’t really make sense given the motivations we know.
– The effects I thought were actually decent and satisfying enough. With the fire, and Liam falling, and then the boat rising with the water. It was satisfying enough for me.
– Charming’s bro James being the mayor made sense. But while Cruella was all over David, where the heck did Snow go? Didn’t she just hide off screen? Did she not see what Cruella was doing to David? You’d think that would bother her and she would pop out and stop the charade instead of David doing it on his own.
Disliked:
– Pretty much what everyone else said…..One second Hook feels he doesn’t deserve to come back because of what he did (which was great), and then by the end of the episode, he’s totally fine with it. We didn’t even get a line from Hook that showed he truly forgave himself for what he did. And there’s Emma, who just continues to look so desperate.
– Liam changing his mind about Emma. Someone finally called her out on her selfishness which was great. But then, no one acknowledged why Hook was also in the wrong, except Emma, in a brief comeback line. And then, Liam changed his mind and tells Hook Emma is great for him. What did Emma do that made him change his mind exactly?
– How about Captain Silver just accepting defeat after Liam takes his sword on the boat. Not even a fight from you Silver? What a lame character. Worse than Blackbeard. And we didn’t even get a confirmation that it was “Long John” Silver.
All in all though, a lot better than I thought it would be. It’s probably the weakest of this half season, but that’s not saying much because I think this half season has been pretty great. This had a lot of Hades so that helped the episode a lot for me.

Ah OK then.
March 28, 2016 at 4:53 pm #320205PriceofMagicParticipantI’ve not got much to write about this episode. It was okay, not as good as last episode or the 5B premiere, but better than some of the episodes in 5A.
Liked
Cruella was the highlight of this episode. I really want to see her and James on-screen together. Her scene with Charming was hilarious.
Hades continues to be great and I’m interested to see where the story goes with him.
The Henry/Charming scene was nice since we don’t really get those quiet moments anymore.

Liam was likeable enough and he served his purpose. I liked that he called Emma selfish because it is true. Unfortunately he then fell into line on singing Emma’s praises for no reason other than plot
Hook recognising he’d done some terrible things including his DO actions looked to be a turning point but then it was all forgotten by the end.
Again no Belle but then she normally gets the short straw for screentime.
No Rumple. Whilst he wasn’t relevant to this particular plot, it would’ve been nice for there to be a line on his whereabouts. He was conspicuous by his absence and the other characters’ non-reaction.
Disliked
Emma- Emma is getting really clingy towards Hook to the point that it seems to be edging into emotional blackmail territory. We’ve discussed before how all the relationships on Once have issues but CS just seems to be the unhealthiest of them all.

Liked:
Cruella. Lol.
Hades is fun. But for the Greek god of the underworld, he sure seems rather Mephistopheles-like. Wandering around mutinous ships, striking deals, ensuring that he gets fresh souls…
Henry: “Moms…” That right there. SQ bait, but hey.
Regina. Her writing is consistently really good this half-season.
Captain Silver’s coat. It reminded me of Jefferson. I miss Jefferson.
Henry/David. Although, David: “May I think with you? So, what are we thinking about?” LOL!! That, in a nutshell, is David. But seriously, that was actually a really good scene.
Also, Henry and his realization with the pen. Yay for Henry.
Mixed:
I’m gonna try to think through the Liam/Emma/Hook/mutineers story, but maybe I’m reading it in a very particular way. So Liam points out, rightly, that, in saving Hook, Emma’s being selfish and completely inconsiderate of anyone but her own desires. But all this insight gets potentially annulled because it turns out Liam is a liar who made a deal with Hades to sacrifice his men in exchange of saving himself and his brother. In other words, he put his family first, at the expense of the crew of people for whom he became responsible the second he took command of the ship. (Similarly, Emma is de facto responsible for “her” crew of people she dragged to the Underworld with her). Yet, on the other hand, Liam makes the right choice in the end: Killian tells him that he must forgive himself — this, after all, is the thing imparted on Hook by Emma, who in turn gets it from Regina — but Liam, I think rightly, refuses this approach, and lets go. He then actively forgives his former crew members, who were about to execute him, and allow them to move on to their version of a better place. He even extends his forgiveness to Hook — in the shape of a kind of de facto blessing of Hook and Emma’s relationship. And here’s where I think the whole thing derailed. Because instead of taking Liam’s life as a lesson — misdeeds require atonement — Hook goes “Hey, everything Liam did was for me. Everything Emma did was for me. Oooh! That must mean I’m a great guy! Sure, I’ve screwed up, but if all these cool people are sacrificing others and themselves just to make sure I have a cushy life, I must deserve it”.
No, dude. You missed the point.
David’s reaction to Cruella. Sort of hilarious, but my, prudish and judgy much?
Disliked:
Emma. I’ve actually come to realize that I really dislike Emma. She’s become clingy and seemingly emotionally callous about anyone other than Hook, and defensive of anyone who isn’t affirming her 100% all the time. It’s little things, but cumulatively, they add up to create this impression of someone who is both shallow and judgmental. For example her flipping her fingers to fix Hook’s bruises early in the episode — it wasn’t framed as her healing his injuries, so much as restoring his looks. Or her little snarky comment about Henry being emo. I mean, you drag your teenager to “Hell” to save your boyfriend (but not said teenager’s dad), an “emo” response seems pretty darn mild to me. But it’s all about Emma and her discomfort. And her dislike of Liam: that bit of dialogue with Hook was sort of hilarious, as I remember it, it was something like “Hey, Liam doesn’t like me, I think there’s something wrong with him.” If that’s the Savior, the the SB crew is in real trouble.

@outlawgreys yes. That was a mistake. Hangs head in shame.

LIKED
-More Henry.
-Liam calling Emma out on her selfishness in turning Hook into the DO
-Regina telling Emma that she is too good for Hook. I would say that this is pretty true.
-Regina ”Don’t argue with your mother. Or your mother.”
-The ”better place” is different for everyone.
DISLIKED
-No Robin Hood. Where was he?
-Obvious that the pages were taken out of the book.
-More clinginess from Emma.
INTERESTING
-A spot of light magic in the underworld
-Hades can go above ground, so we know he is not trapped. Makes his motivation for keeping people in the Underworld very confusing though…it’s not loneliness. Or maybe he just doesn’t want his brother (Zeus?) to win.
CONFUSED
I said this last week when the sneak peek came out and I will say it again here: if the game is rigged so that no one can move on, then how come Daniel and Neal were able to do so ( and seemingly easily?).
Also, Hades wants people trapped in the Underworld, which means that he doesn’t really want them in the worse place either, yet he is happy to push people into the worse place as a punishment. Perhaps Liam was the exception?
