When coming to the forums … I always love this thread . . . What were your FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 5 x 17 HER HANDSOME HERO …
INCLUDE ANY favorite dialogue too.
[adrotate group="5"]April 9, 2016 at 5:18 pm #321207nonnieParticipantNever a fan of GASTON …. not sure if I am looking forward to this episode …. but OUaT has been pretty good this season.
.
.April 10, 2016 at 9:00 pm #321251RumplesGirlKeymasterThis was a rather slow and predictable episode (obviously Gaston wasn’t the charming and sweet guy presented in the beginning) but that’s not a bad thing. The episode felt like it had something to actually say instead of just having their characters try to kick the plot football a few yards and not really engage the audience. I appreciate when the show tries to be more than Plot Plot Plot.
LIKED
–The actor playing Gaston looks a lot like cartoon Gaston and is a much better actor than the wooden previous guy. (also, he’s really CUTE, no?)
–Hades watching Zelena and he’s all SAD! (halp. I’m shipping things on OUAT)
–Belle’s blue coat in the flashbacks. NEED
–Also, can I have Hades’s coat please?
–LeFou shout out!
–Belle refusing to give into Rumple’s desire to do Dark Magic. She’s showing some backbone and much needed personality.
–“Like I said..it’s all about point’s of view.” This is rather meaty and worth talking about. Is morality relative or not? I love when OUAT actually tries to have a philosophical conversation without hindering plot or feeling like it’s betraying its characters by making them do and say things they otherwise wouldn’t.
–The Zelena and Regina conversation in the diner was nice; I hope those two can find a way to be sisterly.
MIXED
–That CGI Ogre looks nothing like the one we saw in S2. But…both @Josephine and @Runaroundmacy made a Gwarp jokes which was delightful.
–Emma’s a prophet now?? I mean, sure. Saviors have special talents but this seems outta the blue.
–Whoops, Gatons fell in! But it does give Belle’s character something to wrestle with which hopefully means she won’t go back on babysitting duty. (But, where did Belle get the dagger from…?)
DISLIKED
–“This is what you’ve been working on all night? This is your plan….Squiggly lines?!” Hook, be quiet. They are trying something to save you after you caused unholy problems. Stop questioning them and stop being snarky. These sassy lines are just causing problems in how they want us to view Hook.
–Speaking of, “Any Captain worth his salt can tell when there’s a storm coming!” There’s literally a cyclone level storm coming. A blind and deaf man would know a storm’s coming! I rolled my eyes so hard at this.
–Hades. I’m a fan. Big one. Stop the hair, honey. Just stop.
–Arrows dipped in the River of Souls can hurt/trap the Dark One. More mythology handwaving for the sake of plot.
–Mirror of Souls! MacGuffin Alert!
–Everyone enabling Emma and trying to assure her that everything will be fine. You know what, no. It was a terrible plan. She didn’t force them but no one stopped to really discuss in logically or in any sort of human way. Also, “I don’t have issues” says Emma “Walls” Swan. Lol, okay.
–Holy creepy Rumple doll, Batman.
–“You can trust me, Belle.” *moments later* “I really want to be that man for you, Belle. But not today.” ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 10, 2016 at 9:15 pm #321257WickedRegalParticipantThis episode was a little more interesting than I first thought it would be.
Rating: 7.5/10
Liked:
That Gaston was more or less kept in tune with his Disney Character, not presented as a saint, but a monster hiding behind a saintly image.
Any scenes with Regina and Zelena, together or apart is golden to me, absolutely loved these two.
That Belle is standing up for herself and what she believes in.
Ruby is back!
Greg is the perfect Hades!
Mixed:
Belle accidently casting Gaston into the River of Souls….she is now officially a member of the family due to this body count.
Dislike:
Hook, please for all the Gods in Olympus in OUAT, shut up and just let these people save you! Enough with the snark, you didn’t have any bright ideas on how to rescue yourself, so let the family figure it out!
I honestly think Emma is on the verge of a nervous break down, this entire episode she looked like she was ready to snap in the mind.
Belle once again falling for Rumple’s trickery, oh Belle, when will you learn?

April 10, 2016 at 9:18 pm #321258nonnieParticipantI am definitely prejudice …. I do not like GASTON. Did not like him in the Disney movie …. did not like him earlier in OUAT …. did not like him today.
I thought the episode was slow, slow, slow …. I was bored and started doing other stuff …. not paying attention during the episode is not normal for me… I am usually glued.
Liked Rumple even though he is dark … he does not lie to Belle … he just tells it like it is.
Grandpa French’s clothes were a hoot…. I love the hat! Very GermanicI am thinking that Hades really cares for Zelina …. something to watch.

.April 10, 2016 at 9:24 pm #321261CorbinParticipantThis is an interesting episode, only because I look at it as the second part of a Rumbelle character study. “Devil’s Due” gave us the study of what kind of man Rumple is (in the most on-the-nose fashion), recalling a love from his past and how it affects his persona now. “Her Handsome Hero” dealt with how Belle reacts to the man Rumple is, forcing her to contemplate the morality of magic. Can “dark” magic be used for good? Can you change who you are?
LIKED:
– Hades continues to be a standout character. Is he my favorite villain? No, but I love Greg Germann’s portrayal of him as this suave, “distinguished gentleman.” It’s intriguing, especially because the show isn’t forcing a backstory down our throats with him.
– Belle got some stuff to do! I’ve liked Belle as a character and have always been happy with Emilie de Ravin’s performance, but with the amount of focus she’s been given (re: little to none), I wouldn’t be nearly as upset with her dying as I would other characters. That said, I think this episode really added some layers to Belle and had her regain some of her S2 backbone (especially with her grabbing Rumple’s dagger from his coat. It was sneaky and clever).
– Zelena, despite all the evil things she’s done, continues to be a highlight. It’s probably because she’s the only consistent character on the show, but it’s still something to note.
-I’m also looking forward to some development between Zelena and Regina. Would a redemption be a bit annoying? Sure, but I think it’s finally time for Regina to have some blood relatives back in her life.
DISLIKED
-I really couldn’t care for the flashbacks. The most they did was reinforce Belle’s position in the present, but I just rolled my eyes during every one.
– I’m sure that, whenever they need something to happen during a flashback, the writers just go, “Let’s add an ogre! That’ll do.”
– I didn’t care about Gaston. He was annoying, contemptuous, and was about as useless as he was in the past. I particularly laughed when he went on his whole monologue at Gold’s (Pan’s?) shop. Belle’s reaction was priceless.
-Also, does anyone else think that the odd clothing choices have extended to Emma and Regina? From the giant overcoat on Emma (I’m sure it was due to the cold weather, but it looked weird) to Regina’s appear-at-will hat, it looked weird.
Keeper of Thor’s Hammer, Will Scarlet’s Genie Bottle, Emma’s Gun, Emma and Henry’s Moment at the Castle, Cora, and the infamous Family Tree!
April 10, 2016 at 9:31 pm #321263kpercymanParticipantThis show does it to me every time. When I start to enjoy it, children are harmed or thought to be harmed. I’m still watching but even an ogre child….then the whole mark baby thing.
It’s getting harder to like stuff. But I guess the one thing I did like was the Regina/Zelena convo and that is about it.
April 11, 2016 at 12:30 am #321284Jiminy’s JournalParticipantI’m just trying to figure something out. Ogres are blind, right? So, was this guy Daredevil?
And RG, Belle got the dagger, when she kissed Rumpel. She basically distracted him, while she took it from his pocket.
April 11, 2016 at 4:50 am #321288onceaholicParticipantActually, I really liked it! 9/10 because most of it made sense!
I really enjoyed Belle and Gaston. Both actors were great.
I am also really enjoying Underbrooke…it took me a while to get used to the red filter but it feels like 2A to me right now, so all is good.
I was disappointed that Robin was absent again, but least they addressed this and came up with a good reason: that he was in the woods with baby green bean.
Stalker-Hades…eew.
CONFUSIONS
-What is actually the purpose of the blue flame hair? Is it just simply an expression of power or anger (or both?). There must be more to it. (Not really interested in Disney, just want an in-show explanation).
-Did we really see Hades weaken when Hook’s brother Liam and friends moved on? You’ll have to remind me folks.
PREDICTION
Belle’s right. Hades gets his power from souls, hence his relentless grab for them. He needs enough power (enough Souls) to overpower/overthrow his brother, Zeus, and perhaps switch roles, placing himself in Olympus and sending Zeus to the Underworld.
(He hates his brother, but maybe one of his motivations is to give Zelena a nice place to live, making her his weakness also?).

April 11, 2016 at 4:55 am #321289PheeParticipantThere was so much Emilie de Ravin on my screen, it was difficult for my brain to compute that it was actually an episode of Once Upon A Time, it felt like I was watching something else.
The actor playing Gaston looks a lot like cartoon Gaston and is a much better actor than the wooden previous guy.
It wasn’t the actor, he was just given nothing to do. He was utterly adorably goofy, animated and loveable as Buzz McNab on Psych, so I remember being excited when he was gonna pop up on Once back in the day, and then his role was such a waste and so disappointing.
