ParticipantI don’t like what they are doing to Rumple, making him to be THE MOST EEEEEEEEEVIL and basically ignoring any progress he once made. To paraphrase, “Neal is dead, Belle loves me, but it doesn’t matter. I’m a villain.” He makes wrong choices but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t sense to those wrong choices–he wanted to find his son, he wanted to save Bae and Belle from Pan, there were logical and well written decisions. I don’t even recognize my favorite character anymore.
I feel the same way. He’s been doing a lot of bad things this season that it’s become really hard for me to like and even sympathisize with him.
I didn’t want my prediction that he would the hat on Emma to happen but it did—as much as he gave her the choice — it’s still an unforgivable act to me. He’s so far gone at this point I seriously don’t see how he can redeemed. He’s really hit rock bottom.
And he knows he’s done bad stuff but yup, he doesn’t really care to change.
I did love how self love was finally addressed. I know there was debate how that’s never been addressed and it felt appropriate for Emma love and accept who she is as a way to take control of her magic. And for Elsa to help her realize that was and even more amazing.

ParticipantHe doesn’t believe he can change. He doesn’t believe it matters if he does. He gave his life to save his son’s and it wasn’t enough. That’s a pretty big blow.
And I think that while he couldn’t refuse a golden opportunity walking in and begging him to take the power he needs to finally be free of the dagger…he didn’t want to hurt Emma. That’s why he DID give her the choice.

THEN HAVE HIM SAY THAT.
You can sit here and paychoznalyze him until the cows come home but it’s only your interpretation; on screen it’s all POWER POWER POWER. He even said to Emma that he is a man who chooses power every single time (lies). it has nothing to do with Neal dying or failing at everything.

ParticipantNotes/Queries:
— So…Anna and Kristoff are dead? Sorry, but Frozen people (who’s hearts are still in their bodies)= dead. They’ve already established that.
— If Ingrid’s powers were limited, how did she still use the magic mirror across the room? Maybe I missed something?
— “Neal is still gone.” Rumpel’s use of “still” makes me wonder.
Favorite:
— Finally seeing the sheer power that Emma has. Perhaps we’ll soon see why she’s the savior, other than because she broke the curse.
— Hook is trying to be an honest man.
— Sweet Regina/Henry scene.
Mixed Feels:
— The rambling and jokes from the Frozen characters are getting to me. I know that a lot of people joke and are sarcastic in reality, but it’s starting to feel like every other sentence.
— Ingrid has a bit of a skewed view of things. Her sisters didn’t fail to accept her. If anything, they seemed very accepting of everything. Ingrid killed one of them. This isn’t Emma accidentally scratching Henry. Ingrid showed herself to be a danger in one of the most hurtful ways. Accident or not, Gerda’s emotions were human. It doesn’t mean that every bit of love and acceptance that was present never existed at all. Maybe gazing into that mirror has messed with her head? She’s acting a lot like Regina did circa season 2. It’s just crazy.
Least Favorite:
— 🙁
— “I never do anything without a good reason”…Well, then. Rumpel must know the secret to the people writing his character this season because I, for one, am lost. It just seems like they’re writing Rumpel to be the big bad for the sake of writing Rumpel to be the big bad. What is the point? He is literally unrecognizable. It’s like he’s been possessed. This quote better be true. There better be some AMAZING reason for all of this.
— Snow is justifying OQ because…what now? Those situations were not the same. Also, by the time Snow met Regina she was no longer “selfish” or “shallow” Her mother had already humbled her. And honestly, Snow needs to stop demonizing herself for being 12. Children are selfish and childish. It’s literally what they do.
— The Charmings are really out of character. Since when does a pep-talk from Regina make the Charmings do the obviously right thing?

This got to me this episode as well. I think it might be because they needed to flesh out 2 hours of script.

He DID say that. When Emma said Belle believes he can change, he said he fears she’s wrong. He doesn’t believe he can.
He also said it’s all about power and how he’s a man who always chooses it. And that comment doesn’t mean “I fear that she is wrong and I’ll be the man she wants” with Fear = ACTUAL fear; it means “I fear she is wrong” with fear = meaning she’s right, I’m a bad man.

Yeah. When I think about it, I suppose that could be the answer.

ParticipantYeah, it means he believes she IS wrong which means he doesn’t believe that about himself.
Anyway…if they REALLY needed filler…I know a character we didn’t see at ALL. Just saying.

Not quite. We know that Anna is still alive thanks to what we learned in episode 402. Using Bo Peep’s staff, they discovered that Anna’s heart was still beating. Disney ain’t going to let them kill off Anna and Kristoff. Especially when they’re essentially carbon copies of the movie characters. I think that’s why we saw Helga’s body crumble to confirm she was dead, while it’s still open ended for Anna, Kristoff and Hans.

ParticipantI have a like/dislike relationship with this ep as a whole.
It felt like all those character scenes that usually end up on the cutting room floor, they were kept this time. The characters felt more like real people IMO, it wasn’t just plot plot plot left right and centre, they actually took time out for characters to talk to each other.
Problem is, I didn’t particularly like much of what they were saying half the time. EG: I die a little inside whenever Snow blames herself for things she shouldn’t, so while I like that she and Regina had an actual full conversation of a personal nature, some of the content was jarring.
Major dislike: Rumple being a word I can’t say on the forum.
Major like: Elizabeth Mitchell’s performance. -
