When coming to the forums . . . I always love this thread . . . What were your FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this FINALE : OPERATION MONGOOSE
[adrotate group="5"]May 10, 2015 at 10:21 pm #304427RumplesGirlKeymasterWell. Here we are. The last page. So to speak. I hope everyone enjoyed the finale and had a good year overall.
I will say this: I *adored* the first half. Loved it. It felt magical and momentous and organic and it felt absolutely like the show I had fallen in love with all those years ago. I did not like the second half, apart from a few scenes. The second half felt sloppy, rushed, and full of moments that made my stomach turn. I guess, overall, that evens out.
LIKED
–HENRY. I LOVE YOU. Please Adam and Eddy: give him more to do! Jared was excellent and the way Henry outsmarted and became his own hero was wonderful to behold.
–Dark Snow might be my new favorite thing
–Bandit Regina did amazingly as the “Snow” version of herself.
–Rumple the White Knight. Adore
–Henry. Did I mention him yet?
–Adam and Eddy are the Author. It’s so meta and self aware. I mean, really: #NoSpoilers
–At least we know who the Sorcerer is now. It’s good to know. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet.
–Good “dark one” graphics
–The dragon was pretty cool
–GREAT sword fight between Rumple and Emma
–Loved all the costuming
–The Belle and Rumple scene at the end
–Henry being the new Author. It makes ALL THE SENSE
–Dark Dwarves.
MIXED
–Henry asking the Apprentice if he could use the pen to bring back Neal. On the one hand, I cried a lot because it’s about TIME Henry finally talked about how much he misses his dad. But on the other, it was rather heartless for the writers to bring up Hook’s non existent death in that moment and compare it. From a purely fandom perspective, that’s…going to create waves. People can talk about how Hook wasn’t really dead since it was in a book and thus doesn’t fall into “dead is dead” (and I get the argument) but, again, from a fandom perspective, it’s only going to make matters worse. And in a lot of ways, it felt like the final slap that we can’t let Neal’s sacrifice be in vain (to quote Emma last season) but Hook’s sacrifice can be reversed and Emma is even begging for it to happen. I’m not even asking for SF….sail on CS, go be true love. I’m asking for Henry to have his father back. (and yes, from the actor standpoint, it’s not going to happen, I KNOW THIS. But…yeah. Complicated emotions are complicated, hence why it’s going in mixed)
–Not enough Belle. I got no sense of who she is in this reality. She’s just a prop at this point, no matter what reality. However, Emilie does her job well.
DISLIKED
–EXCUSE YOU. NEAL TAUGHT HENRY HOW TO SAIL.
–The second half was all about the ships. Shocking! I am so over this story being based around ships and romantic love. The first half felt so ONCE-y because it was about family love.
–Regina as the Savior felt like a cheat
–Mal doesn’t know who the father of Lily is cause it was done in dragon form. Oh my god even just writing that sentence.
–What is the POINT of Will Scarlett? Seriously. WHAT WAS THE POINT
–Did not need Zelena. Never need Zelena. Go away.
–The absolute hand wavey-ness of Rumple’s redemption. NO. I wanted him to work for it. To earn it, like everyone else!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 10, 2015 at 10:37 pm #304441WickedRegalParticipantI’m conflicted in a lot of emotions right now, but I’ll do my best for this list.
Overall Grade: 8/10
Third Best Season Finale….
Liked:
Henry….this boy has evolved so much from the ten year old we met back in Season 1! And that was the highlight of the entire episode…if not the best parts of the entire episode! Henry is a hero!!!
The RegalBeliever and SwanBeliever scenes were perfect!
This may shock a lot of people, but Regina choosing her son over Robin Hood, showed that no matter what….Henry would come first! She didn’t even fully believe that Henry was her son, but she still did it!
Dark Snow….Ginny Goodwin had fun with that, I could just tell!
Lana Parrilla’s Bandit Regina was….Lana can act anything and make it perfect. She’s just perfect.
The OutlawQueen Scenes were brilliant, and even though they were minimal compared to others, they’re still beautiful.
Mixed:
Ummm….yeah…the only twitch I got was the fact that Robin Hood saw Regina in the church, and didn’t go after her. I expected him to run after her, not actually still marry Zelena in the AU.
The Rumbelle scene….PERFECT OPPURTUNITY TO RECREATE THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST ENDING! BUT OF COURSE….THIS FANDOM CANNOT HAVE NICE THINGS!
Disliked:
Rumple’s instant redemption….soooo….Rumple can raise Hell in SB the entire season, but just because all the darkness is taken out of his heart, we’re supposed to just forget and forgive, and just say hurrah for Rumple! NO!
RG just reminded me…yeah…ummm….Henry….Hook didn’t teach you how to drive a ship. That was Papa Neal’s teachings…to give that credit to Hook just didn’t feel right.
The Ending…I guess because it was spoiled, I just don’t really feel too much for it.

Same. I kept going, “okay, stop the black tornado now and end it. We know what’s happening. Stop beating the scene to death.” But again, we were all so spoiled.

The two iconic LOST scenes. The first one when The Apprentice presents Isaac with quills and says, “Pick one” and tells him this is a test. Goes back to when Richard Albert, in a flashback, goes and visits the child, John Locke, and asked him to select items that belonged to him in the future. This was a test to see if Locke was ready.
The second one was when they were playing Three Dog Night’s Samballa. This was a nod to the scene when Hurley got the Dharma Initiative work van running and they all took a spin, up and down the valley, while playing Samballa.
Loved that Isaac identified Henry as the “constant” that he couldn’t be written into the story because his story didn’t originate in the EF or book.
Thought it was great how they nodded to Disney as being the author who had just died.
Really enjoyed Adam writing/mirroring himself in the story by having Isaac say, at his book signing, “No spoilers.” Laughed out loud over that one.
As well, we all knew The Sorcerer is Merlin. Looking forward to seeing Camelot come S5. On a side note, I’m all for Michael Keaton guest starring as Merlin. 🙂
Least favourite moments:
Gosh, where do I begin? I can live with the fact that my theory is dead. I can deal with the evidence, from tonight, that the original quill & ink, that wrote Rumple & Bae’s story, can only write a fake version of it and that nothing can bring back the dead for real. But then there are all the exemptions to this, like Zelena, Anastasia, ect. That Neal/Bae wasn’t important enough was a huge let down. I am thoroughly disappointed that they knew fans would be hoping that it could eventually bring back Neal/Bae, and they gave us that hope from the very opening of this finale by teasing us with what Isaac said to Rumple. That they would open with this, only to squash our hopes in the final few minutes, is unforgivable. It’s downright dastardly.
To add insult to injury, they actually had Henry tell Hook that Hook taught him how to sail the Jolly Rogers. Ya, that never happened. It was Neal who taught Henry how to sail that ship, back in S2x16, The Miller’s Daughter. For me, this was absolutely sacrilegious. They invented something that never happened and intentionally ignored what did. I really wanted to take a swing at A&E at that point.
If that all weren’t enough, they go and use the hat to change Rumple from the DO. Give me a break! As if Rumple wouldn’t have figured that out and spared us all the nonsense of getting Isaac to rewrite his story. Nor does Rumple deserve to have his HE. Even as a hero, he still caved into darkness and murdered someone. And what’s with the Dark force not returning to its original master, Rumple? Instead, it seeks out anyone BUT Rumple? Come on now!
I’ll get over it, as I’m still not giving up on the show and I’m not going to let that damper my spirit or stop me from having fun. However, for tonight, I’m going to vent.

So much for a super top secret ending when it was filmed right out in the open in Steveston, with fans all there to view. At least with last year’s finale scene, they didn’t film it in public, and they kept it a surprise from even the main cast.

Yeaaaaaaaaah. About that. LOL.

Liked:
-Evil Snow and Charming was awesome! I mean we could have spent episodes in the AU watching them.
-Henry actually doing something other than just standing there.
-Them actually remembering the AU.
-MERLIN!!! Even the castle that Emma was locked in the AU looked like Merlin’s place in The Sword and the Stone.
-Belle saying she doesn’t love Will. Solves that.Disliked:
-The Apprentice dying. I know why he had to, he is a regular on Cedar Cove and they will start filming in Vancouver soon, it probably overlaps.
-Rumple being under a protection spell.
-Neal finally being brought up over a season later.
-Is Henry still the author if he broke the quill? I guess no more author then.
-Plot device Blue Fairy.
-What happened to Mal?Emma as the DO will be interesting seeing as when Rumple first became the DO he wasn’t completely evil. It was a gradual thing.

Maybe I am not remembering right but didn’t henry say something like “I had a really good teacher”. Which of course means Neal and also that hook taught Neal …so I actually thought it was a super sweet moment that was honoring both hook and Henry’s memories of Neal.
On another note, I thought for sure that when Rumple chipped the cup it would trigger Belles real memories. Didn’t Rumple put a spell on it?
I rearly enjoyed the episode. I don’t think rumple has been redeemed. He will go back to a powerless coward if he lives. Hardly what he would consider a happy ending. Loved Regina and Henry. Evil snow was fun. I can always do without Zelina. I honestly cannot stand her character. I loved that Emma sacrificed her self to save Regina. Their friendship is one of the things I enjoyed most this season. I hated the lily daddy dragon moment. Too weird. Loved evil dwarfs and granny. The scene with the apprentice and Henry almost felt almost like a series finally and I wonder if they played that card too soon. Henry becoming the author feels like closure in some ways but now it kind of just feels like a plot device to resolve heroes and villains book. I guess it will depend on if the fact that he is the new author ever becomes relevant in future episodes. I am really looking forward to seeing how this plays out next season.
May 11, 2015 at 2:02 am #304483Reginastwin3ParticipantLIKE: The switch, I can tell that Gennifer had fun playing evil, Lana killed it as bandit type snow. I liked that she sacrificed her self for Henry and Robin stayed by her side.
I noticed Regina said “NO” to Emma when Emma was trying to save her, question, why did the dark things go after Regina?
MIXED: Henry being the author, I think it’s too soon, seems very series finale.
DISLIKED: It felt too rushed, they should have stayed in the EF next season and concluded it in December.
I am a nerd at heart.
