Hook took Emma’s memory of what Dark Ones Want, is my understanding. So that she would be left guessing what his plan was–the summoning of the DO boat party.

I think it’s not so much a reforging as an undoing, the first step in restoring the Grail and returning the water that was stolen from it to make the Dark One. Stolen magic needs to be returned, like in Wonderland, and “undoing” has special meaning to the Dark One.
Even knowing that it will kill Hook, Emma might be willing to complete the restoration of the Grail now that she understands how much worse off Hook is as a horcrux.

December 1, 2015 at 12:40 pm #313311BelleOfTheBallParticipantWithout reading anyone else’s response, I would give this episode maybe a 4.5/10? There were so many things wrong with it that I just couldn’t get past that seeing the storyline beneath was very difficult.
Liked:
– The first Hook and Emma moment where Emma helped Hook make DO Head Rumple disappear. It was very sweet to see how powerful they can be together. (Note: This is the ONLY Hook and Emma moment I liked this episode… which is very odd for me as I do ship Captain Swan)
– Zelina in the hospital. “You are just doing your job. Poorly, but you are doing it”. They are writing her so much better lately, and I really went from despising her character to not minding her all that much.
– Robin and Regina welcoming Zelina into the family (a little) and not just keeping her from her child. Mainly, thank you writers for not making it a blood battle to see who gets to be mother.
– DO head Rumple’s little “hi…” like he knew Hook would not be happy to see him. I laughed.
– Emma and Henry finally together again. Thank goodness.
– Snow telling Charming to wake up and stop being hypocritical that they would have done the exact same thing as Emma.
Disliked
– So this was a big pet peeve of mine during the episode. Throughout the series (Season 1 especially) Snow and Charming saw the best in everyone. They chose to trust people. They chose to see the good past the evil. Even when EQ Regina was after Snow she chose to see the best in her and remember the woman she was when she rescued her on the horse all those years ago. However, they cannot see the best in their own daughter??? The fact that they so easily agreed not to take the cuff off her just bothered me. That they didn’t trust the darkness in her. This seemed so OOC for them. But I guess it was Mary Margret and David talking – not Snow and Charming. These were my favorite characters in the first season – they believed in hope and goodness and had that Disney air about them while still being B.A. Now, they are so much their Storybrook counterparts its almost like Snow and Charming was just a dream.
– Hook. Hook and all your dirty disgusting lines. The writers took one of my favorite characters and ruined him. I would have loved to see the Pirate I fell in love with in Season 2 who was saucy and smooth. But this Hook was just disgusting. He called a woman soiled. SOILED. On a family show. Essentially announcing he (for lack of a better way of saying it) “had his way with her” and was done. It also made it seem like he cared nothing about Meliah and she was just a toy for him, which (hook fan or not) I think we can all agree he loved that woman and would not have spent centuries trying to get revenge if he hadn’t. Honestly, between the Marian, Robin, Zelina situation, Hook’s soiled line, and Regina and Graham, I think these writers have a really really sick mind. Quite frankly, we have less information about TL “love making” than we do about forced or meaningless “love making”. Would it hurt for them to encourage the young viewership that this should be a bond between two people in love. Not something you do for fun to impress your shipmates and make another man feel belittled. The message they are sending out is disgraceful and they should seriously be ashamed. Honestly, this line and this message may keep me from finishing a series I have been dedicated to for 4 years. It was extremely offensive.
– Sooooo we can just bring people back from the dead now? Let me guess, there is some loophole in which the DO’s can be brought back from the dead because they were once immortal and killed by the power of the dagger, but regular people like Graham and Neal can’t be brought back. Calling it now.
– The whole Hook-kills-Merlin-because-he-has-Nimue-inside-him-as-a-dark-one thing. I feel like Rumple could have cast the dark curse like a looooonnnngggggg time ago with this theory in mind. I mean, why didn’t he just take the thing Zozo loved most and kill it? Problem solved.
– Also, 5 minute dark curse vs 9 month dark curse?

Yes, Rumple could have saved all that time grooming Regina to embrace her evilness to enact the curse. All he had to do was free Merlin from the tree, channel Nimue, and BAM he’s in our world. But these are also the same people who said no beans exist…none, nada, zip, zilch. Exceeeeept the one Ruby had. And gave us the Apprentice’s door, and …
In the end, Rumple was quite stupid for taking 200 years of searching for a way when there are so, so many. Lazy man.
(Jo might be a bit bitter about this show.)

I am sending lots of virtual hugs!!!! I felt the same way and was really bothered by this episode, which is why I wasn’t planning to post a review/thoughts on it.
I was so mad at Emma’s family for treating her that way. It was horrible and she did not deserve it. How is what Emma wanted to do that different from what Snow did to Cora? Zelena takes responsibility for Neal’s death and gloats about it, she teamed up with Arthur and would have gladly killed the entire charming family…yeah I agree Emma should not have been planning to kill Zelena, but it’s not like it was that unreasonable of a plan considering the circumstances. Emma is also feeling isolated and NEEDS love and her family just gives her the cold shoulder. Seriously, Snow and Charming have been ruined for me ever since the baby-snatching episode. I mostly just try to forget it ever happened so that I can continue watching the show and enjoy it – I will probably have to do the same with Hook this episode. I have always loved hook’s character and been a fan of his redemption arc. This Dark!Hook though seems so crazily OOC. It just wasn’t believable his turning on Emma. Maybe if it was built up more and there was this creeping sense of Emma not trusting him, along with Rumple whispering in his ear, I could buy it. However, the whole turning on Emma took what 5 minutes? It felt very rushed and not believable. The things he said to her were pretty nasty and again felt rushed and unbelievable. Also if Hook was soo EVVVUL why did he bother healing Rumple? why did he sword fight him and not just take his heart? Surely that would have been an easier way to destroy him and get the blood too. Also if he wants to snuff out the light and hates Emma now, why did Hook say he wanted Rumple’s head for filling Emma with darkness? Hook this episode was so contradictory and OOC.. I can’t even take the line about Milah seriously – it makes zero sense considering he loved her enough to spend over 100 years trying to avenge her death.. I don’t know who thought that line was a good idea. I just don’t get these writers.
I haven’t even touched the whole belle/rumple at the well scene and I think I will just not get into that now/in short again very OOC.
I hope the mid-season finale can fix this mess. I send lots of hugs! I really get your frustration as a fellow CS shipper. <3 <3 <3

THIS is where a CODE ADAM would be called by hospital personal…. CHILD ABDUCTIONS …. noone is allowed to leave…. Police would be summoned … but since Sherriff is the Dark One that might not work.

December 2, 2015 at 11:31 am #313389RumplesGirlKeymasterHonestly, between the Marian, Robin, Zelina situation, Hook’s soiled line, and Regina and Graham, I think these writers have a really really sick mind
I agree that the “soiled” line was one of the most offensive things I’ve heard on this show in 4.5 years. But I don’t think the writers have a really sick mind, in that they find delight in rape, wonky consent, and misogyny and write such things because it gives them pleasure. It’s that they don’t recognize that their lines and various plot points are full of rape, wonky consent, and misogyny. They are completely disconnected from the broader implications of the things they are writing and showing.

I personally wouldn’t trust these writers with my grocery list, let alone with an adequate portrayal of the complexities of fraught relationships. But the “soiled” line was over the top.
On the upside, I watched this episode with my niece — who is 12. She actually laughed when Hook said that. And went “Oh my god, did he just say “soiled” about Milah? I mean who says that?”It raises my hopes that the younger audience watching this are a savvy, clever bunch who see through the awful gender stereotypes that this show sometimes unwittingly perpetuates.
December 2, 2015 at 5:59 pm #313425The Swan PrincessParticipant4) Merida… Was in the woods right? When the curse came?
I thought she was in Dun Broch? Having saved her brothers and then fought off Arthur and Zelena?
They showed Merida in the forest when the curse came. I thought it was to show us that she went back to Camelot for some reason.
If she really was in Dun Broch than that means all of the people from there and all the tribes came to Storybrooke with the curse? But we never saw them in Storybrooke.
And I still don’t understand why Merida was with the others and got her memories back from the dreamcacher if Emma never took her memories in the first place!
This show I swear…
You know what I can't continue with the dead people brought back to life list I'm out of space in the signature and now we have an underworld arc this is to much I quit why do you bring so many people back to life OUAT WHHHYYYY
