Loved this episode, best one yet except for a couple of complaints:
1. Didn’t care for the filler story with Ashley and her prince, felt like it was waste of time.
2. Wished there was more story to show the development of relationship btwn Belle and Rump. Probably stuff was edited out b/c of time constraints, but again they could have left out Ashley et alHaving said that, I love the character of Rump/Mr. Gold (or should we just call him Rumplestiltskin since he has confirmed he knows who he is). And I think he worked perfectly as the Beast. Great chemistry with Belle.
Was glad they did not really kill off Belle. And I’m optimistic that in the end Belle will somehow reunite with her Beast. I really do not think the writers will ever really kill off any of the classic princesses and their princes. First, the show is followed by family’s and I don’t think the writers would be so heartless as to disappoint all the Disney princess loving little girls out there who watch OUaT (including my daughter). And also, being associated with Disney, even though they are taking creative liberties to spin the tales a bit, I can’t see them changing the basic core of the classic stories.
I think all of the FTL characters (at least the major ones) have been and will ultimately find their happy ending but in the new land of Storeybrook.
So far we have already seen Cinderella find her prince and Hansel/Gretel find their dad. Yes, Graham died but the Huntsman is still not a major character in the original Snow White story.
Rumplestiltskin is arguably a bit villainous but obviously has many deep layers to his character and may turn out to be redeemable. It may take a while, but hopefully if all the princesses finally find true love, I hopeful for Belle and Rumplebeast to fins each other again in the end.
I agree more and more with the EQ being the Miller’s daughter, especially with the way she asked Mr. Gold to “tell me your name”. Although Rump could do as the previous Dark One did and trick someone into killing him and thus take on his curse. But I think he doesn’t because he is still searching for his son. I think this will tie in somehow to whether he took the EQ’s firstborn and/or with the power struggle that is obviously between them.

Personally, I don’t belive in such notions as Good and Evil. I think there are many levels of Self-Less and Selfish. The more Selfish one is, the more “evil” they can be said to be. To that end, Rumplestiltskin (from here on out I’ll just refer to as Rumps; although I love Rumplebeast 😀 ) is shown to be very selfish.
He’s a man who deeply resented not having power to protect his family from being pressed into war. And he selfishly protects his dark power in his contests with the evil queen, even at the cost of lossing a woman who loved him. Anyone ever see the 2008 movie Hancock? The movie where we learn the two immortals are “weak” when they’re together and in love, but “strong” when apart? This episode reminded me of that movie.

This certainly makes me look at Mr. Gold in a new light.

The romantic in me is sad it didn’t work out but the writer in me is REALLY GLAD. Because it’s sooooo better of a story this way. I REALLY want him to come around in the end though. Please, Rumple. Please let her love youuuu.
I was happy that he chased her away rather than hurting her (physically) because he was so violently mad and felt so betrayed that I thought he would for a second! Aw, man. I felt so bad for him in this episode… 🙁
I wish they’d showed us her pain more. I felt her confusion and I could see that she was hurt. But it wasn’t enough. She has to hurt as much as him if they’re in love.

I just wanted to give Rumple/Mr. Gold a big hug 😀 am I crazy for saying that? 😆 😕
February 15, 2012 at 4:47 am #137291riddleravenParticipantNot really. xD I mean, there’s a fan podcaster that has a full-blown crush on him. (She said she was having “twitterpations” this whole episode. I thought that was cute xD) Personally, I wouldn’t go that far (maybe eventually) but Robert Carlyle just has a way of making you sympathize!
February 15, 2012 at 1:19 pm #137292hjbauParticipantThis was not my favorite episode. I mean i liked it, but it still had some writing problems. Gold and Regina were great in it though and another good Emma and Mary scene. The Mary and David scene with the card, i just can’t believe he did that. Also the scene where David was buying the cards was funny because Gold was buying rope and duct tape which is just hilarious.
The fairytale world scenes were fine. There was some good dialogue in there and a lot of disney cameos going on. In some ways the room was more interesting then their dialogue and the conversation with the queen. This was a much better Rumpel episode then the last one.

Me, too. It also could have just been a throw back line to the original Rumple FT. But I had a very strong feeling in that scene that Regina was the miller’s daughter. Plus, we really don’t know how much history there is between their characters in FT world.
Like, I think there’s only like 2-3 scenes between them in FT world. There one in episode, The Thing that You Love the Most, when she visited him in his jail cell to learn more about the Dark Curse. They haven’t had scenes together in the FT world since, until this past episode.
