Favorite part: The scene where Neal gives Emma the keychain and her reaction.

Those kind of couples have become really rare on tv as I’ve recognized. And Emma is so…so wonderful showing a completely different side (yeah, young love…), being happy and non-pessimistic, it’s delivering blissful feels of all kinds…<3
One of my favorite moments, how they leaned into each other here…swoon.
November 5, 2012 at 8:23 pm #159672elleParticipantI think this episode is one of my favorites. 😀
The best scenes were with Neal and Emma–both actors really sold it, and I loved their interections together. It was a wonderful surprise to see how great of a person Neal (whomever his counterpart may be, if he has a counterpart) is, and how he was willing to wait for Emma for twenty-eight years. 🙂 I honestly think this couple is special–both are willing to do anything for the other, and both have suffered so much. Also, I liked Princess Aurora and Snow White bonding–it was done well, and really helps show how close both the princess and the queen are becoming.
Captain Hook was a lot fun, though I really don’t buy into him actually caring for Emma. He seems to really love Milah–the tattoo of her, his reluctance to speak of her, and the dark, angry look on his face everytime she is brought up shows how committed he is to avenging her.+
I thought August/Pinocchio was horrible to both Emma and Neal. I get that he was trying to keep Emma away from a criminal life, but the way he went about it was just wrong. And he ditched keeping track of Emma once again to go and enjoy himself.
My only complaint on this episode was the special effects with the giant.

Yes, I really loved getting to see more of his emotions for Milah. I didn’t buy that they were quite true love in The Crocodile, but now I do. (I think I love/like every canon couple on the show, which is so rare for me.)
Also, I never thought about it until the recapper at Television Without Pity brought it up, but Hook must have been planning to double cross Team Princess all along because he had both bracelets that Cora enchanted for two people to climb up the beanstalk. One was suppose to be for Hook and the other for Cora supposedly, but in actuality Cora and Hook were setting up Team Princess.Oh, and I also remembered that I loved finding out who Jack really was and what happened to him, so at least that’s one FTL, that Bae/Neal is not.

I think a lot of that has to do with Milah and Hook as characters. They didn’t seem like they were lovey-dovey but that doesn’t mean they didn’t love each other. People show affection in different ways and Unfortunately Milah was killed off far too early for us to really get a handle on their dynamics.

1) Emma cuffing Hook – because I was completely fooled, and did not expect it. When Emma said “You owe me 2 favors”, I thought, she has a code of honor, she’ll make sure Hook is alive and come back with him. Furthermore, it removes all ambiguity from Hook – no way he’ll team up with the Princesses now, he’ll definitely be on Team Cora.
2) The scene with the dream catcher – because it ties in to part of what we saw in the opening episode.
3) Henry describing the nightmare, and the reveal/suspicion that he and Aurora saw each other.Least favorite moment is when Neal looks into the box, and we’re not shown what he saw. I know it’s meant to be a tease, but it did not work as a tease for me. It felt more like something was deliberately left out just to artificially create suspense. From that point, it’s obvious that Neal is from Enchanted Forrest, or at least another world, otherwise his reaction to August’s story would have been something along the lines of “what drugs are you on”. So, for me at least, it would have been better if the whole August scenes were omitted, and we were left with the feeling Neal turned on or abandoned Emma. Then, have another episode where we learn who Neal was in EF, how he became Neal, cut to the scene where he leaves to fence the watches and then reveal August’s role (possibly having the scene where Neal looks into the box as the cliffhanger).

Favorite Moments: God there were many. I loved seeing Emma as a teenager. She looked so cute in her glasses. And I also loved that she stole the yellow bug from a man who stole it first. That was too funny. I really liked Neal. For a thief, he had a pretty good heart. I’m kind of hoping that he’s either Emma’s true love or possibly Baelfire. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. I loved the scene in the store where Emma faked labor pains in order to escape. She and Neal were so funny in that scene. Especially when Neal kept saying, “Breathe baby! Breathe!” 😆
Hook was also great in this episode too. I love that sexy sleaze. 😀 And FINALLY! The writers have made Aurora important! Her nightmares gave her a very interesting connection to Snow and Henry, and seeing her be scared and vulnerable really made me sympathize with her. I loved seeing her grow closer to Snow.
Least Favorite Moments: WTH AUGUST?!?!?!?!?! I understand his motives, but dude…that was cold. I’m also a little confused about August’s timeline in this episode. In “The Stranger,” August admitted to Emma that he failed her and that’s why he was turning back into wood. I got the impression that he abandoned her and never returned. But in this episode, it appears that he was looking after her the entire time. So, what the heck?
The giant. Seriously writers? Ugh…
No Rumpel, no Regina, no Belle and no Ruby. Argh! But it was still a great episode, so I can’t complain too much.

He did leave her when he was seven, but he came back to look for her when she was 17. 🙂 And he promised Neal that he would be there for her, but then the $20,000 proved to be a temptation that he couldn’t say no to. So he took off to Pleasure Island, and once again left Emma. That was what he meant when he told Emma he was supposed to be there for her–twice he left her.

Ah! I gotcha. Thank you! 😀
November 16, 2012 at 8:27 pm #161086lilredParticipantI wasn’t probably the biggest fan of August to start and became pretty frustrated with August after this episode (like so many others – seriously, the guy’s becoming a favorite punching bag 😆 ) but I see part of his redemption arch being rooted in righting this particular wrong; in reuniting the family that might have been. Can no one else see August playing ‘fairy godmother’ in a Emma/Neal romance? Especially to the displeasure of both Emma and Neal and receiving threat after threat from both parties? 😕 Maybe that’s more material for a fanfic than anything else…
I would like to see a remorseful August and have it not be rooted in how he’s wood again. Maybe have him realize how his actions affected Henry’s life since he seemed pretty fond of Henry last season – kind of like a fun uncle.
