Yes, I agree. I think Belle looks awesome. I also think it’s a little unfair and a bit presumptuous to assume that every female fighter on the show is an attempt from the writers to turn them into another Snow White. Belle’s story is nothing like Snow’s, so there’s no way she can become another “Snow.”
Besides, Belle going off and having an adventure with Mulan makes sense for her character. She said in Skin Deep that she always wanted to run off and see the world. And in particular, she said that she always wanted to be brave. And this brief encounter with Mulan was her chance.
I completely agree.
It’s not like Belle’s going to start killing war lords and saving villages. That photo with her holding the sword is probably a scene where Mulan attempts to teach Belle how to fight. It’s probably going to be a nice playful scene. Belle’s smiling in the photo, so I’m assuming it’s meant to be fun.
[adrotate group="5"]I don’t think the writers are trying to turn Belle into Snow. I think they’re trying to give Belle her ultimate dream before she gets captured by Regina. Belle always desired fun and adventure, and the girl had more bravery than she knew what to do with, but she had no place to channel all that positive energy. Her father groomed her from bith to be a perfect little duchess, then she gave herself up to Rumpel and became his servent in order to save her village. And even though they eventually fell in love, the fact remained that she was still a caged woman. So, I’m glad Belle got the chance to spread her wings and go out on her own. 🙂

😯 😮 😯 Belle looks awesome!! Can’t wait to see this episode. If she’s kicking butt, I wonder if that fierceness will come back when she’s with Rumpel, trying to escape from Hook? Like he can’t get away but look out, Belle comes a kicking!!
I am not saying that Belle is Snow White or that her story is identical to Snow White’s story. Both women are different and have gone through different obstacles and tragedies. 🙂
But just her very outfit, exceot the color and and a bit of the top, look like Snow White’s when she was on the run. And it just seems suddenly random that she is running around with a sword and meeting up with Mulan and willing to fight a demon. It just seems like the writers are showing every princess out to be a warrior with a sword and ready to fight demons are save villages.
I’m not going to make any judgement until I see the whole episode, but the whole thing just looks a bit forced–like they want Belle is to be a warrior princess. I had already liked her for being warm and dedicated to finding her own path while trying to help Rumpelstiltskin.

I’m glad Belle got to see the world before Regina captured her. It would have been tragic if her entire life was filled with nothing but dungeons and cellars. At least she had this one event where she was able to be brave and free to hold onto while being held prisoner in Regina’s castle.

Perhaps they know about Belle’s association with Rumple. Hook was in Neverland yet when “rescuing” Belle, he knew she had lived with Rumple so he must have heard about that somewhere,
If the villagers thought Belle was there on Rumple’s behalf, they may try and get rid of her to save themselves.

You’re right Marilou, I should have said Mulan’s realm. Will be interesting to see what went down with EQ and how she ended meeting up with Mulan.
