I’m glad we now have a space to post spoilers for 2×4!
Some on-set pics of Robert Carlyle, Emilie de Ravin, Josh Dallas, and I think the big guy could be Smee. Meghan Ory was also spotted on set, but I couldn’t find a photo of her. Scroll to the bottom of this post for some big spoilers:
Source: Emilie de Ravin posted this picture on her twitter.
One big spoiler is that Belle might be mugged by Smee. She might have been visiting Moe’s flower shop. I’m thinking it could be to get Mr. Gold/Rumple to cooperate and meet Hook’s demands.
Some other news is that Prince Charming/David has been spotted wearing the sheriff badge. If Emma and MM have been trapped somewhere, it would explain why PC/David has been looking after Henry and presumably taking on the role of sheriff of SB. Perhaps Mr. Gold employs David’s help to track down the gang of pirates.
Another big clue: Emma and Mary Margaret have been missing from SB sets from ep. 2-4 now. A new spoiler might give some insight:
Question: Any scoop on Once Upon a Time? —Rae Ausiello: Something will happen this season that will ensure Mary Margaret and Emma get a lot of mother-daughter bonding time, whether they like it or not. Bonus clue: Think Lost.
I’ve never watched lost, so I have some theories which aren’t based on that show. My two theories are that Emma and MM be prisoners of Regina or they could have been transported outside of SB, which is why PC was seen running after Jefferson and with a magic potion in earlier episode shots.
Have any of you seen Lost? What happens in that show which could possibly happen to OUaT’s leading ladies?

And Charming with the Sheriff badge!
And we’re gonna see Moe!
As far as where Emma and Snow go, I just got done rambling about my ideas on that in this post:

Some more photos of Robert Carlyle and Josh Dallas. It’s interesting that Mr. Gold still uses the cane:

August 24, 2012 at 9:46 am #153299PheeParticipantThey don’t all know that Rumple is the one who created the curse, do they? They think it was all Regina’s doing, right? Maybe that ignorance is why Charming seems to be working with Rumple, because even though he’s a bad guy, he believes their current predicament is thanks to Regina? But BF likely knows, and you’d think she’d have told them, right? Unless she’s chosen not to for now, for whatever reason? Maybe because they need Rumple on their side to get Emma and Snow back? How many question marks can a person use in one paragraph?
I’ve seen speculation ages ago where people said it’d be very fitting if Belle was the one to re-open the library.

I forget. I know Emma knows for sure, but she’s gone and I don’t think the rest of Storybrooke knows that yet. As for the BF, she might still be covering for herself since Snowing probably doesn’t know about August yet. Henry knows about August of course, but I think they’ll wait to play out the drama of Snowing finding out until Emma and Snow return from wherever they are.

Yes, I’ve seen a lot of speculation from other places how Belle standing in front of the library means that she’ll be in charge of running the library. I’m not sure how I feel about that though because I don’t want them to take too much from the Disney movie. Don’t get me wrong because I loved how they worked Gaston and Chip into “Skin Deep”, and I would think it was funny, neat shout-out if Mr. Gold’s first name to turned out to be Adam’s, the same name as the Beast’s in the Disney movie, but I’m not sure if I want her to run the library.
Now if someone else suggests the idea on the show about opening the library back up, and she hears about it or sees a poster about it, or someone suggest to her that she could help with restoring it, I don’t mind that idea, but I guess I feel that after 28 years of being locked up and not knowing about our world at all, I’m not sure if I would find it believable that she would come up with restoring and opening up the library on her own.

Perhaps Belle goes to the library precisely because she has been locked away in a new land for nearly three decades; she has a lot of reading to catch up on and a lot to learn. She’d gain invaluable information from reading an encyclopedia and newspaper archives. I love the reference to the library from the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. Also, I think the name “Adam” would be very fitting for Mr. Gold, since as said, it’s the Beast’s name in the cartoon version, and is the namesake of Adam Horowitz, the co-executive producer of OUaT.

That’s a wonderful idea that I hadn’t thought of. While I want Belle to continue to be a strong and compassionate character, I just feel that it would just be unlikely all things considered even on this show, if she suddenly had the idea on her own to run the library.
However, I admit when pictures first came out, first I was happy because “The Crocodile” looks to be an action-filled episode featuring Rumple, which is always a bonus for me, but then I became somewhat grumpy reading some of the reactions to it, not here but elsewhere. I felt that in some places, again not here, that Rumple was being given too much of a free pass for his past actions. I love the character and Robert Carlyle’s portrayal of him, and maybe at the end of the series if he’s really atoned for the evil deeds he’s committed, I’ll feel he has earned the right to his happy ending, but right now I’m just waiting for everyone in Storybrooke to find out who was really behind the Curse, and for Bae to find out that not only did his father create the Curse but he brought magic here to Earth.
(Of course, I can be quite contrary, so when I feel the balance has tipped too much into Rumple-hate at least in comparison to Regina’s actions, I want to defend him, at least in comparison to Regina; but they’re both evil right now and yet both have equal chances to be redeemed even though I might prefer one over another right now. 😀 )

Maybe Rumple gives her the library. I have a feeling that Skin Deep is only half of the beauty and the beast story. In the Disney version, Belle gives up her freedom to live with the beast, the beast throws her out, the beast protects Belle, they get along better afterwards and begin falling in love with one another, the beast gives Belle the library, Belle’s declaration of love turns the beast back into a prince. I know that’s a very general summary of the Disney verion and OUaT is doing their own version of the story and changing details but there are very similar parallels between the two.

I think people can sympathise with Rumple more because all of his actions have stemmed from the basic parental instinct to protect his child. He became the dark one in order to protect Baelfire and it’s not exactly clear whether the dark one curse is just power or a separate entity in itself that latches on to hosts like a parasite, influencing its host’s behaviour and actions. Rumple started out wanting to use the power for good but got corrupted in the process. What if the dark one curse is like a little voice in Rumple’s head. He sees the soldiers about to take Baelfire, the dark one curse tells him he needs to kill them all to protect Bae. He sees Bae injured by the cart, the dark one curse tells him the man with the cart did it deliberately and needs to be punished. Belle’s love is a threat to the dark one curse, the dark one curse tells Rumple that Belle doesn’t really love him and it’s all a trick.
If true love breaks any curse then it makes sense that Rumple’s feelings of love for Bae and Belle are able to overide the dark one curse’s evil. Blue Fairy said to Bae ” You are the part of him that keeps him human. That little light inside of him that still glows. It’s his love for you.”
If Rumple were to lose both Bae and Belle then his humanity would be lost as well hence why he seems more evil in the first part of the season set after Skin Deep and The Return. He has no one to love. As far as he was concerned, Belle was dead but there was still a chance to find Baelfire which is why he was focussed on creating the curse. In Storybrooke, where the dark one curse is inactive, he’s still driven by the desire to find Bae. What if the dark one curse was laying dormant and when Rumple woke up, the dark one curse woke up as well?
I’m not excusing Rumple’s actions but he may not be as aware of them as say Regina is of hers. Regina deliberately sets out to hurt Snow White and Emma as much as possible, Rumple just has his attention on a set goal and doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixAugust 26, 2012 at 4:04 pm #153354lilredParticipantWhy is Rumple using his cane in all the new pictures? I thought, with restored magic, his limp would be healed again…did it not work for him (unlikely!) or is he pretending it didn’t?
