There was also the suggestion of a vortex opening up like in “The Return” causing all of the damage, and possibly sucking Mary Margaret and Emma in which is why they’re nowhere to be found in any of the pictures so far.
It does seem strange that two of the leads haven’t been spotted at all in any of the outdoor scenes, but I wonder how they would be able to get them back if they got sucked into a vortex. It could explain Jefferson’s appearance though, and his hat being in one of the photos. (Of course, when I want to find the photo, I can’t but I know Prince Charming is in it too.)
So I’m guessing maybe it might go like this just based on what spoilers have been given so far if Snow and Emma did get sucked into a vortex.
I saw these on my tumblr, which may account for Ginnifer Goodwin’s (SW’s) absence. It also seems Jennifer Morrison (Emma) is finally on set:

I’ve never thought of them having known each other in either world. I guess Jefferson has it out for Regina though, so he’ll wanna help Charming and Co.Although I don’t agree with some of his decisions (kidnapping, trusting Regina when YOU KNOW SHE IS EVIL: TWICE!) I was kind of worried we wouldn’t get a reunion between Jefferson and Grace – that the two would just pop up a few episodes in and we wouldn’t see the moment she sees him and remembers. While this is still possible, I’m now hoping for the reunion scene even more!
For some reason i don’t think the first episode is going to be sleeping beauty. I am not sure how any of that mirrors what is going on in Storyrbooke. I like your idea about the vortex sucking Snow and Emma somewhere. That is an interesting idea.
PS. Which set was the picture of Charming with the hat?

I thought the first episode was suppose to be about Sleeping Beauty from spoilers going around, but maybe the second episode is about Sleeping Beauty. The first episode is about Regina’s backstory; hence, why Ginnifer Goodwin mentioned Barbara Hershey and Bailee Madison being around. Then, the third episode is about Mulan, and the fourth about Peter Pan. I’m just speculating though, and this quote by Jennifer Morrison doesn’t make it any easier to try to guess what’s going on.
“There are some episodes that are incredibly time-demanding, and then there are episodes when I work 2 days, and then I get a little break. It really just comes down to a by-episode situation. I know that in the first episode back, I am in almost every scene, and then the second episode, I’m in four scenes. There are times where, depending on what the storyline is… there’s always going to be an element of Emma that’s a through-line, but sometimes it’ll be a lot, and sometimes be a little,” she continues.
Well the first episode is going to be an Emma episode with ensemble meaning with bits of everyone in it as well. Emma is the main character of the show. And there was a shot of Red in her dress from fairytale land where they were she was filming with Snow in the forest so that leads me to believe that the fairytale land part is after where we left off at the end of the last season. Though it is possible that it is after Red and Snow left the mob after Peter was killed, but i think that is unlikely based on what the actor that plays Red said about wanting to do that story. I don’t think that she would have said that if it was already in the script she had read.

Perhaps this blog will help shed light on things. It makes sense that episode 1 was actually episode 2 and vice versa based on the other spoilers that have been given, and the films that we’ve seen being shot.
So
Episode 1 = Sleeping Beauty. It looks like Regina sends Emma and Snow White off somewhere else, or they get sucked into a vortex by the end of the episode explaining their absence in episode 2.Episode 2 = Henry trying to find out if Regina is behind Emma’s and Snow White’s disappearance, and getting caught sneaking into her house. Prince Charming being very protective of Henry and finding Jefferson. The town looking in the forest for them.
Episode 3 = Well, we know Lancelot is in this one for sure.
Episode 4 = Captain Hook, Beaman, Milha all appear.
Walking past the old Lynn Valley library on the way to the mall, I see that they’re back at the indoor sets today…

Hmm..I don’t know about Sleeping Beauty being episode 1..In the title card sequence and the article that went along with it I thought the last three title cards were the first three episodes of Once…Mulan first, Sleeping Beauty second, and Jack and the Beanstalk third, and of course now we know Hook is fourth, which does not necessarily mean that we will meet Peter Pan in that particular episode. The reason I think this is likely is because we have already seen set photos with Mulan in them while we have yet to see Sarah Bolger or at least I have. It would also make more sense for Sleeping Beauty to be ep. 2 since they haven’t cast Prince Phillip yet….But then again i may be completely wrong..

The original casting spoiler for Prince Phillip said he was gonna be in 2×01, so if that’s the case, ep 1 must be Sleeping Beauty.
