Tonight we learned how Fiona became the Black Fairy? Is she truly evil–the most evil figure we’ve ever encountered? What did you think of her story over all, including how she became a fairy, her relationship with Blue and Tiger Lily, and her marriage to Malcolm?
Is there any saving Fiona? Can you un-Black Fairy the Black Fairy?

I was rather hoping she’d just be evil like Cruella no explanation given. Now I guess we’re supposed to feel bad for her because she did love her son and she must’ve been good enough to become the Gold Fairy (fairy goodness has always been debatable though). How exactly did she become a fairy again? That seemed too easy. It’s a wonder all the kids aren’t snatching up fairy wands and giving themselves wings if it’s as easy as that.
April 30, 2017 at 10:14 pm #337512AKAParticipantDo I think she is the greatest evil ever, nope. Do I feel sorry for her, not really. They gave her a story so we could feel sorry for Rumple more than her. She chose to become powerful to try and save her son by killing another baby. That is pretty dark. Rumple becomes dark to save his son (there is the parallel) but he also wanted to use his power for good to bring all the kids back (there is the complete non parallel) The BF chose power over love by cutting Rumple’s fate and keeping hers. Rumple chooses power over love by refusing to jump through the portal (parallel) but immediately regrets it and jumps into the whole begging to go (non parallel) In all I would say she at least thinks she cares about Rumple but I don’t know if she truly knows how to love. She is pretty messed up with her parenting thoughts after all she actually said that she was trying to “toughen” Gideon up. I think we should say Thank the Lord that the spinsters raised Rumple or who knows how he would have turned out.
As for Fiona and Malcolm’s relationship given what Fiona thinks about what a good parent would do for her child I think they were made for each other. The BF is a typical abusive parent who justifies her behavior and uncontrollable anger onto her victim. I was just trying to toughen him up, he needs to grow up, etc. I certainly hope this was intentional on OUAT’s part and that they are having Rumple see through this. I think they are just by the look on Robert’s face when she says this.
As for Blue, she was what she normally is, totally nonessential. Tiger Lily did more evil than good. You don’t tell a brand new mom that her baby is going to die. I don’t care what the reason is, she is going to try and change that fate and save him. Fiona becoming a fairy was a little convenient but okay.
April 30, 2017 at 11:04 pm #337521TheWatcherParticipantI feel like this story has a lot of gaps, personally.
– Wait, so huh, where and when exactly did the wand come into this? Like at first I thought it was Black Fairy’s wand, and then I thought maybe it was Tiger’s wand, but I don’t seem to recall the wand making an appearance in the flashbacks, right? Weird.
– Why does Black Fairy steal babies?????
– Okay I admit this is a nitpick, but….the dress Black Fairy wore just so happened to be the same dress she wore when she was turned into the black fairy? Really? After all these centuries? Come on now.
– I don’t understand savior mythology or how black fairy was planning on using the curse to save rumple.
– Fiona was not the greatest or most powerful evil ever. Not by a long shot. Just saying, shes pretty mild. It still seems like Nimue has her beat, and given Nimue most likely predates her, Nimue is actually the original dark magic lady.
Idk. I really enjoy her as a character, but I really feel like I am missing a few chapters of this story.

That makes for disturbing Sunday evening entertainment, but it’s also more like an authentic fairy tale than what we usually get on OUAT.

Yeah I’m confused on this as well. Is she trying to replace Rumple? Is it to fill a hole in her heart?

I thinks the plan was to send baby Rumple to a land without magic, like Snowing eventually do with Emma and the wardrobe. Tiger Lily even points out that Fiona’s solution would send ALL the children to the LwM.

Right like a few others have said, this basically makes no sense. We’re told time and time again that Black Fairy is the most eeeeeeevil of all time but she’s pretty young compared to Nimue or the Dark One’s Curse
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 1, 2017 at 10:11 am #337541RumplesGirlKeymasterAlso, here’s a question: how does Rumple know anything about his mother, the realm she inhabits, or that she can leave on occasion to steal babies?

Why wouldn’t they just use a bean? I mean this way before James destroyed all of them so they would have been hard to find but not impossible. She could have taken Rumple and herself to a land without magic.

I’m thinking it was maybe this, but also so she’d have workers to mine the dark fairy dust to work toward her escape.

I just rewatched the scene, and my understanding was that she wanted to send all of the other children to LWM and stay with Rumple in the EF so that Rumple’s killer would be in a different realm unable to hurt him. Otherwise, how would bringing everyone including her and Rumple stop him from being killed?
