I can see some subtle connections between Prince Henry here and the older Henry he presumably grows up to be. It’s also clear that he’s genuinely a nice guy and see’s something in Cora that his snobbish father can’t.
I agree.

I love Emma. So. Much.
Oh wow… and I just made a comment about the family thing before I saw this over in the Sneak Peak #4 & #5 thread. I stand vindicated! Now I’ve gotta watch…
March 8, 2013 at 11:18 pm #178305RumplesGirlKeymasterOk. Some more thoughts on this since I’ve seen this a few times now:
1) Cora is cocky. However, I can’t feel bad for her. I want to (maybe) but I just know what she becomes.
2)Whoa magic ship! I love that effect.
3) I adore Emma. That is all.
4)”I don’t like what that enchanted box was saying” Best line of all time??
5)Barbara Hershey is gorgeous.
6) Cora becoming the dark one was totally her plan all along
7) Cora’ red dress is smokin’
8) Cora and Henry are interesting…
9) The King is pretty nasty. I don’t enjoy him.
10) Doesn’t look like she knew Rumple before the made the deal with the King."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 8, 2013 at 11:20 pm #178307lisasParticipantThis is awesome I am so glad ABC released this I loved the shot of Neal & Henry with Henry steering the ship and standing beside him watching proudly. That conversation between Emma & Rumple just warmed my heart. I can’t wait for Sunday to see the rest of it.

I think her headstrong personality and disdain of her social class, having to live day by day trying not to starve made her very bitter, combined with the humiliation from the royals just added fuel to the fire. I can see a proud woman like her would keep a grudge forever.
I can also see where Cora is coming from. I even feel a tad bit sympathetic to young Cora, but not older Cora of what a monster she’s become. Her backstory doesn’t excuse the fact that she murdered and schemed her way to power. Looking back in the episode “Stable Boy” She could have stopped with just marrying Henry. They seemed very well off and rich, she had magic, but she got too greedy.
I can also see Cora’s point of view with not wanting Regina to marry a lowborn stable boy since she knows what poverty is like, Regina probably does not since she live in a mansion and never had to do hard labor in her life. But killing Daniel went too far in the context of rich controlling mother.
Ah! I really like that they put all these conflicting emotions to all their characters. But I’m still rooting for Snow to just kill Cora for all the evil she’s done.
March 9, 2013 at 12:07 am #178324MysteryKat25ParticipantAfter this episode I have a feeling we’ll just see it as tragic. Young Cora was sassy and creative and ambitious and she went too far. We’ll more than likely see something beautiful that could have been and know that she turned into something rotten. This is this season’s Stable Boy is my guess.

March 9, 2013 at 12:18 am #178328evilqueenParticipantmy thoughts briefly:
– with that amount of spoilers, they might release the entire episode already, wouldn’t make much difference…
– young Cora’s life proves that not everyone enjoyed the Fairytale Land and I hope it will be used later on when Charming insists “they have to go back” (a parallel to Jack in LOST? 😆 )
– the terrible writing for Regina’s character is getting even worse. Please stop it, it’s absolutely un-watchable! (and her both grandfathers – ew! Makes me want to root for her connection to Rumple instead!)
– Emma, you poor naive Emma. Protecting Rumple because he’s a family now? Like that changes anything? It didn’t stop Gold from being violent towards Henry just a second ago!
– I wonder if this really is the same Princess Eva we see here and if we’ll ever learn the story of how she changed into this glorified person…March 9, 2013 at 12:30 am #178332MysteryKat25Participant@EvilQueen wrote:

I felt that way about Tallahassee and they still managed to surprise me with the August appearance (I knew he was going to be there and thought a totally different scene would take place). I think they showed the first act early because people saw it at PaleyFest last weekend (they always show that day’s episode + first 10 minutes or so of the next. Thankfully they don’t do it for every episode!
That being said there have been tons of hype / spoilers for this episode but I am hoping that they still manage to surprise even the hardcore fans. *Fingers crossed*
Jane tweeted something with regards to the sneak peaks and basically said just wait til you see everything in context. They’ve always shown sneak peaks and they should always be taken with a grain of salt because there’s a lack of context but she made a point of reminding people of that this time. I for one am very much looking forward to the context, even if we have seen way more of this episode already than we normally would.
