I agree, a lot of great insights on this thread. The writers have been illustrating the theme that our choices and experiences make us good or bad since season 1, when they showed Jimminy’s/Hopper’s origin story.
We may not get to learn more about Henry Sr. or Eva. There are already so many characters in the mix and every storyteller has to edit. There are always gaps that viewers have to fill in with their own experience and imagination. As long as the gaps are not about central characters and main plot points, I’m fine making a few leaps (and its even a fun part of having a fan forum in which to discuss those leaps). Otherwise, the “gap” is a mystery that the show ought to reveal at some point, or a plot hole that we fans will pick apart.
This is only a clip of Act 1, so who knows what else we will see in this episode, or down the line. I can’t wait to watch more![adrotate group="5"]“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. Hmmm, 5th in line for the throne… Does that mean George is Henry’s older brother. And Cora cursed his wife to be one step closer to the throne…Nothing to do with spite, just it would be more convenient.
Yes, I believe George was first in line to King Xavier’s throne, which was impoverished, just like King George’s kingdom was. Since Prince Henry was only 5th in line to the throne, Cora would’ve done a lot to try and ensure no one else came before her husband, and so she probably made George’s wife barren. Yet, Rumple was one step ahead of her, and so he procured Prince James for George, who passed him off as his biological son.
There is a good chance that she believes she loved Rumpel once, evn though she just loved his power… I mean the woman believes she’s not wicked! *cough cough* I don’t think Cora will die. Her story has so much more in it, they can’t kill her yet. So much history to be told. If they kill her now that would be lost. Sorry, I don’t like it, but I’m afraid she will live, simply because she is too elementary to the plot. Which means somebody else dies… one of their own like they said… that would not be Cora anyways.
I think Cora’s time is up, at least in the present. Snow White will kill Cora this time, and it will be the start of dark Snow, whom Prince Charming will have to fight for again. Just because Cora dies in the present day, however, doesn’t mean we couldn’t see more of young Cora’s backstory. Rose McGowan has hinted we may see more of young Cora in the future.

Highly likely, I’d say. If she’s 5th in line, there must be at least one sibling above Henry, right? Actually, I guess at least 2, if we’re working on the idea that one of them was George, who had no kids. There could have been a 3rd sibling, who had children, who would bump Henry and Cora back in the order to 5th. But if she wiped out all of them, then cursed George’s wife, Henry and Cora shoot straight into 2nd place, right? So George got baby James to prevent Henry and Cora from taking the throne.

Yeah, they can kill her off in present day and still have her in flashbacks, given that her story is entwined with Rumple’s, Regina’s, Snow’s, and also whatever they end up showing of Wonderland.
March 9, 2013 at 6:05 pm #178507KebParticipantI cannot stop giggling at how Cora knocks down the “enchanted box” because she doesn’t like what it’s saying about her. We haven’t had nearly enough of those FTL characters meet our world moments.

If so, the family tree gets even more convoluted! Was George related to Prince Thomas, Cinderella’s husband? They kind of dropped that storyline (so many characters!) so I can’t remember where they fit in to things.

March 9, 2013 at 8:44 pm #178535TheGoldenKeyParticipantI’m still questioning who this Prince is that we see. He doesn’t fit the physical appearance of Henry Sr. nor has he been introduced by name at any point. Cora assumed he was Prince Henry based on King Xavier calling him son earlier on. Note that he never acknowledges or denies that he is to Cora. He only asks her to dance.
Maybe the Prince Henry she gets to marry after spinning gold isn’t the beau hunk she things he is. 😉 😀

Of course IMDB decides to not have heights listed for the two actors I need to know the height of but I think it’s pretty obvious that there’s a big difference. I love your theory that it’s somebody else entirely who is just enjoying Cora’s flirtation and it’s probably just the brother or something. Will be interesting to see how she reacts if that’s the case. We shall see!
The only good thing about changing clocks and losing an hour today? OUAT is an hour closer to airing!

March 9, 2013 at 9:08 pm #178541RumplesGirlKeymasterIsn’t there a fairy tale along those same lines? Where they put all the princes (or princesses) in masks at a ball and invited the whole land and only the person who was meant to marry the heir actually found them because it was true love, ect. Am I hallucinating this fairy tale?

You’re right Kat! That is the only good thing about daylight’s saving time! 😆
I don’t know that’s how it will play out. RumplesGirl has a great point of view on it. She said it could be they are trying to draw a parallel, showing how Cora turned him into a cowardly timid man.

Can’t think of any off hand. Surely there has to be a fairy tale out there about mistaking identity. 😀

Isn’t one of the scenes in Jim Henson’s Labyrinth? when Sara finds Jareth in masks at a ball?
Even more, it is the way in which Romeo and Juliet met, without know who they are… and mainly a cliché in that sort of “true tragic love” stories, i’m sure there are more.
So no, you are not hallucinating 😉 -
