I’m still questioning who this Prince is that we see. He doesn’t fit the physical appearance of Henry Sr. nor has he been introduced by name at any point. Cora assumed he was Prince Henry based on King Xavier calling him son earlier on. Note that he never acknowledges or denies that he is to Cora. He only asks her to dance.
Maybe the Prince Henry she gets to marry after spinning gold isn’t the beau hunk she things he is. 😉 😀
Wasn’t the casting call for a Young Henry though? The cast list on IMDB lists him as Prince Henry.

Isn’t there a fairy tale along those same lines? Where they put all the princes (or princesses) in masks at a ball and invited the whole land and only the person who was meant to marry the heir actually found them because it was true love, ect. Am I hallucinating this fairy tale?
Isn’t one of the scenes in Jim Henson’s Labyrinth? when Sara finds Jareth in masks at a ball?
Even more, it is the way in which Romeo and Juliet met, without know who they are… and mainly a cliché in that sort of “true tragic love” stories, i’m sure there are more.
So no, you are not hallucinating 😉Since RumplesGirl mentioned it, now I’m sure I’ve heard a story like that before, and it’s gonna drive me crazy trying to figure it out. It’s something other than Labyrinth and Romeo and Juliette, (the tragedy of which would certainly fit with Henry and Cora, especially if she also ends up dead in this ep), because I get the feeling it’s something I read as a kid.
When I tried googling, I did come across that the ball in Disney’s Princess and the Frog was a masquerade ball, but I’ve never seen that movie, so it can’t be what I was thinking of.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Princess_and_the_Frog#PlotBut sticking with the frogs…
“The Frog Prince; or, Iron Henry” (German: Der Froschkönig oder der eiserne Heinrich, literally “The Frog King or the Iron Heinrich”) is a fairy tale, best known through the Brothers Grimm’s written version; traditionally it is the first story in their collection.
Iron Henry? Hmmm.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Frog_Prince_%28story%29And then there’s also The Frog Princess…
The king sets his three sons to marry, and tests their chosen brides.
That caught my eye, with the speculation about there having been several royal siblings.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frog_PrincessBut I still haven’t figured out where I know that masquerade ball story from.

So no, you are not hallucinating 😉Labyrinth’s story is very different, but the look of the set and the costumes was DEFINATELY Labyrinth inspired. It was the first thing that crossed my mind whenI saw the scene.
The notorious Labyrinth ballroom scene:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nBjvElCzAwAlso Rumpel’s costumes are SOOOOO inspired on Jared’s, right down from the crocodile, to the more stately costume, they are just a different color. No wonder he is sexy. I adored David Bowie in this movie…

Me either. And it’s really bothering me. But I’m glad others have heard something along the same lines and I’m not crazy.

I didn’t see that. But it doesn’t really surprise me. It’s a pretty hot dress, how did someone in rags manage to get that?
Edit: she does steal the mask though. The King also says it’s a stolen dress, so apparently she did steal it.

I understand that the casting call was for a young Henry but the physical traits/attributes are so completely different between the two. He’s more than a foot taller and extremely thin. Skeletons don’t match up. LOL! Just doesn’t make any sense.

I’ve seen other photos of the actor for Young Henry, and he actually does share a few physical traits to the Older Henry we have seen. Look at the face in particular. I think it’s just hard to imagine someone elderly looking as a young man.
March 10, 2013 at 3:23 pm #178682TheGoldenKeyParticipantNo, it’s not hard to see someone elderly resembling someone young. It’s done all the time in this series.
It’s hard to see a tall beanstalk of a man supposedly looking like a short stocky man. Bone frame doesn’t change. You can shrink and inch of two, as you age, not a foot!
These writers/creators do not normally miss something like this. Important key to detail is what they do. This young Henry towers over everyone! So, only other conclusion is what RumplesGirl suggested. It’s a parallel of how one man can be beaten down in size.

March 10, 2013 at 4:20 pm #178706PheeParticipantA few of us were just discussing the Henry actors in another thread, and I couldn’t believe it hadn’t occurred to me…or to anyone else it seems, because I don’t recall it being mentioned in all the Regina’s bio dad speculation…the actor who plays Old Henry, is Latino, (as is the guy who plays Young Henry, and the actor playing King Xavier is Portuguese). Lana is Latina. Rumple’s played by a Scot. Case closed?

Yup. Henry Sr is Regina’s father and tonight we’ll get the final proof and we can forget this chapter in our lives when we thought that Rumple might have fathered Regina and many of us were like “UHHHHHH. No.”
