So apparently IMDB lists an actor named “Guy Fauchon” appearing in this episode as “First Dark One”: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0268990/?ref_=tt_cl_t11
Granted, it’s IMDB, so it’s not 100% concrete. If it’s true, I wonder why they’d pick such an unknown to play the original Dark One? Unless he’s only temporarily playing the Dark One in just some bodily form, and they’ll be fully revealed with a different actor in a later episode?

Maybe we won’t see his origin story yet, but the Darkness will take his shape while talking through Emma’s head?
Maybe they cast an unknown because
-the original DO will be seen only briefly in human form and/or
-he will end up wearing a ton of prosthetics anyway a la Voldermort.

I have seen this actor before, but only in bit parts. I remember his roles in the story, but I don’t really remember him, LOL.

If this is true, it makes me wonder if the dreamcatchers are holding memories of past Dark Ones that are now inside Emma’s head and she’s basically infusing the dreamcatchers with various Dark One memories to try and get them out of her head. So we’ll see the First Dark One (or really any Dark One) but through a dreamcatcher.

Ooooh I really like this theory! Another idea I have now that you bring this up, is that since we know you can use a dreamcatcher to see memories, maybe she infuses them with memories from Camelot. Maybe this is how some will get their memories back… I feel like I read a spoiler somewhere that hinted at people getting their memories back at different times.

I could see this, because we have seen a dreamcatcher extract memories before via Pongo in “The Cricket Game.”
