I don’t think William’s tweet means a first glimpse of Ariel. Notice, he specifically included: Ginny, Josh, Lana and Robert, NOT Joanna Garcia (aka Ariel). We’re speculating in the “Who’s filming Now?” thread that it’ll be a picture of the murderous mermaids attacking the Jolly Roger.

The story finds Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who will appear in a handful of episodes) rescuing one of the ABC fantasy’s regular characters before experiencing her own adventure, which incorporates elements from the 1989 animated Disney classic. “Once we realized we were going to Neverland, it felt like the perfect place to see Ariel,” says executive producer Edward Kitsis. Fans should look for winks at some of the movie’s iconic moments, such as a gag with a fork that nods to the clumsy dinner scene, says executive producer Adam Horowitz.
As for speculation that Lana Parrilla’s Evil Queen will transform into Ariel’s eight-legged nemesis, Kitsis hints, “In a world where our crocodile turns out to be Rumplestiltskin, you never know what might happen.” Holy mackerel!

September 23, 2013 at 9:45 am #211582PheeParticipantIf Ariel’s gonna be saving Snow from drowning, (best guess based on Ginny’s pics and the info that she’s gonna save a regular), then I wonder if we’ll see her save Eric at all? Because that would mean showing her saving two people in the one ep, which would be sort of redundant.
The inset pic looks like maybe right after she gets her legs? Judging by her expression?
I’m wanting to say that she’s gonna save Snow, make her deal with whoever to become human, (we now know she’s got a scene with Rumple, but Regina also had something to do with a mermaid), and then she ends up human and at a ball dancing with Eric.

Actually, in my opinion, Ariel saving both Snow and Eric wouldn’t be redundant as much as it would be an interesting parallel. Maybe Ariel is a self-appointed lifeguard of drowning people.

I think the insert picture could be the same BTS pics we saw of Ariel (Joanna) and Belle (Emilie) on the beach. That means Ariel is in SB. Maybe she has started out as a mermaid, became a human temporarily in EF, then somehow became a mermaid again, and somehow a human again in present-day SB.

She was very soon arrayed in costly robes of silk and muslin, and was the most beautiful creature in the palace; but she was dumb, and could neither speak nor sing.
Beautiful female slaves, dressed in silk and gold, stepped forward and sang before the prince and his royal parents: one sang better than all the others, and the prince clapped his hands and smiled at her. This was great sorrow to the little mermaid; she knew how much more sweetly she herself could sing once, and she thought, “Oh if he could only know that! I have given away my voice forever, to be with him.”
The slaves next performed some pretty fairy-like dances, to the sound of beautiful music. Then the little mermaid raised her lovely white arms, stood on the tips of her toes, and glided over the floor, and danced as no one yet had been able to dance. At each moment her beauty became more revealed, and her expressive eyes appealed more directly to the heart than the songs of the slaves. Every one was enchanted, especially the prince, who called her his little foundling; and she danced again quite readily, to please him, though each time her foot touched the floor it seemed as if she trod on sharp knives.
We know we’re getting a ball on the show, but there’s no such scene in Disney, but the Anderson scene is talking about a gathering of people with the royal family present, which is what a ball is, (Anderson’s scene isn’t actually a ball, but I’m just saying, there are folks gathered for a royal party of some sort). We know we’re getting a dinner on the show, and it looks like in the background of that pic there might be a table. So I’m thinking the ball is maybe a sit down dinner affair, followed by dancing, and maybe some performances, (to resemble the Anderson scene) in between.

If they were in separate eps then I’d consider it more of a character building parallel thing. They already have to cut stuff out of every ep to get it down to time, and showing two separate scenes of Ariel rescuing people at around the same point in the t-word would be eating up valuable airtime that could be used for something else. But I’m guessing if she does save Eric, it’ll be in this ep, because they’d probably show the rescue before showing them dancing together.
Guess we dunno for sure what part of the t-word Eric is in yet though, because we dunno how mermaids age yet. Might be differently to humans, Anderson’s lived for 300 years, so if Once mermaids are similar, (or even if it’s just the NL factor that lets you live indefinitely) she coulda been around for a long time, and her scenes with both Eric and Rumple may be from a couple centuries before the time of Snow & Co.
I’m super excited for the show to come back in less than a week, but a little bit miserable that we’ve gotta wait another whole month to find out the mysteries of how Ariel fits in. Here’s hoping my sanity holds out that long. 😛

But Snow doesn’t have magic.
September 23, 2013 at 10:48 am #211591PheeParticipantNot suggesting that Snow makes her human. I’m saying that in the t-word, after saving Snow, is when Ariel makes a deal with whoever (either Regina or Rumple) to become human.
September 23, 2013 at 10:50 am #211593SlurpeezParticipantMaybe Prince Eric is a cousin of Snow White, so that after Ariel saves Snow’s life, she’s invited to a ball where she meets Eric. Just an idea that randomly popped into my mind after noticing there is some physical resemblance between Gil and Ginny.
