The Disney Junior series “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” is getting its own special, and it’s bringing a special guest for the occasion.

“Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Never Land Rescue” will premiere Sept. 29 on Disney Channel and Disney Junior (at 6 and 7 p.m., respectively), marking the first appearance of Tinker Bell in Disney Junior’s “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” series.

And Tinker Bell won’t be the only special appearance of the evening; following the show, Disney Junior and Disney Channel will air the animated short “Mama Hook Knows Best.”

Featuring Sharon Osbourne as the voice of Captain Hook’s exuberant mother, the short film will feature Mama Hook offering her son advice on being a good pirate.

The special itself will find young pirate Jake on his most heroic adventure ever, as he attempts to save Never Land from extinction. The iconic Tink will also make her first “Never Land Pirates” appearance in the special, as she guides Jake on his quest.

“In ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Never Land Rescue,’ the magic of Never Land begins to disappear just as the ancient Forever Tree seems to be fading away,” as Disney describes the special. “After a mysterious figure known as ‘The Guardian’ arrives to explain that only the pirate who truly believes in himself can save Never Land from vanishing completely, Jake must break off from the rest of his crew and go alone on a mission to save the Forever Tree, the source of magic throughout all of Never Land.”

Hmmm….magic disappearing and the “Forever tree” fading.  Does this sound familiar?  I still say the Enchanted Forest was dying, which goes back to the BF being the ultimate mastermind behind EVERYTHING!  👿

I am telling you, there must be a writer on Jake who likes OUAT or vs versa….they had an episode where Hook climbed a beanstalk and got chased by a golden crocodile (instead of the goose in the original beanstalk tale). There was something else but I forget what now.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

I watched this episode with my kids, and I couldn’t help but laugh at all the things that reminded me of OUaT.  Jake had to go find squid ink to fix Cubby’s map.  Peter Pan says something to the effect of When you make Tinkerbell mad, she stays mad.

Also, watching Jake and OUaT really starts to mess with my head. Haha.  I sometimes imagine Jake as a cartoon for little rascals where they are really all truly evil, like Pan in OUaT, and Hook is actually the victim.  Although Jake’s Hook seems like the bumbling uncle of Once’s Hook.   Makes it more fun to watch when I feel like I’m watching the same thing day after day. 🙂
