This morning, something occurred to me I thought would be worth sharing. City Mayors report to County Mayors. County Mayors report to Governors. Governors report to the State Legislature.
So here is a question about Storybrooke, ME. Is it on the map? If so, who does Regina report to? A county Mayor? Does that Mayor report to a state governor? See where I’m going? Does the “magic” expand outward, from beyond Storybrooke in American government hierarchy….and how far….what is the result of influence?
Could make for some great writing!

I don’t think Storybrooke is on the map. I reckon you can only find it if you know where it is. King George is the district attorney yet we know he can’t leave Storybrooke because he is from fairytale land. Mary Margaret was probably his first case but the false memories he was given made him think he had a long and successful career.

I don’t think the outside world knows about Storybrooke. And Storybrooke residents seem to not know too much about the outside world….except for Boston – which just so happens to be where Emma came from….

I don’t think the outside world knows about Storybrooke.I agree. In the pilot when Henry said he lived in Storybrooke, Emma sounded like she thought it was a false place.

I know every state is different in the way things are sometimes handled in government, but we don’t have County Mayors in where I live. I know the neighboring county of mine, which contains a major US city, has a county executor, but mine which is a bit more rural has a board of commissioners.
But I don’t think Regina had it even on the map. She was ultimate ruler. I imagine Storybrooke sort of like Hogwarts. Muggles pass and all they see is a crumble of stones and a desire to not explore and leave. Storybrooke is probably similar.

Yup, thought of Bridgadoon as well, when musing about what is the state of Storybrooke in our world. A kind of. For our world Storybrooke doesn’t really exist (yet), while the real word does exist for Storybrooke.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

They only ever mention Boston:
Emma came from Boston
Katherine was going to Boston
Hansel and Gretle were, supposedly, going to Child Sevices in Boston (why not the State of Maine, Child Services?)
Ruby was going to go to Boston
Ashley was going to Boston
Seems like Boston is the only connection to the outside world that they have….maybe because of Emma, somehow?December 19, 2012 at 11:06 pm #165495abowlingballParticipantI don’t get the Boston stuff considering there in Maine.

I remember Regina saying she was in touch with the state about the two orphans (Hansel and Gretel).
As to real government, I found this on the New York City government site. I’d never seen a list like this before so I thought it was interesting.
