I don’t know if the entire world exists to Storybrooke, though.
They only ever mention Boston:
Emma came from Boston
Katherine was going to Boston
Hansel and Gretle were, supposedly, going to Child Sevices in Boston (why not the State of Maine, Child Services?)
Ruby was going to go to Boston
Ashley was going to Boston
Seems like Boston is the only connection to the outside world that they have….maybe because of Emma, somehow?Probably cause GOLD/ REGINA had no knowledge of geography, American history or government. Do you think either one had a G.E.D or high school diploma?

I wonder where the high school is. Do they have bums that smoke put in a backstreet somewhere? I would pay good money to see that!
As the show progresses, if the “outside world” does have any interaction with Storybrooke at all, then they should approach the subject of how some negative consequences might result (i.e., drugs, texting and driving, etc,.). They probably should deal with issues like that, especially since kids watch the show too. They’ve already dealt with teen pregnancy with Cinderella.
Like I mentioned in the other thread about SB effecting the rest of Maine there are 3 options:
1. The town is there in a magical sense and can only be found by people who know. Anybody driving through the area would go through it and not notice any buildings, people, anything related to SB.
2. The town is physically there but the curse makes people avoid the area (like muggle repelling charms from harry potter as said earlier in this thread). They just take different routes or something. For that to work IMO without people noticing…SB can’t be on a main highway. Kinda weird if everybody avoids a main highway suddenly.
3. A bit out there but fun theory…the curse actually took the place of another town in Maine and all it’s inhabitants. (the original town and people are trapped in a limbo of some sort) Allthough, that would have to mean the curse changed the memories of everybody else who knows people in that town or area.
I also always questioned the Boston thing. So many cities of similar size are all over Maine. why drive 4 hours?
