We all know there has been a lot of foreshadowing in this show, all the way back to the pilot, but I’ve recently been introducing some friends to the show and as a result I’ve been going back and watching some older episodes with them. Here are just a couple of references to “Child of the Moon” than I ran across in episodes I rewatched this week.

In “The Doctor”, Henry yawns and complains of not sleeping well the night before. Obviously a reference to the nightmare.

In “Heart of Darkness”, Regina’s standard which is carried by her knights consists of a white square on a black background with red flames at the top. There’s no obvious connection since Regina didn’t know about the nightmare before “Child of the Moon”, but it sure reminds me of the depiction of the square room filled with flames in the nightmare.

Very interesting. I wonder if we’ll find out more about Regina’s standard. That does seem like a big coincidence for the symbols to match so closely with the dream. It would be really cool to hear how they came up with the designs for all of the standards/coats of arms, etc.
