So King Leopold, Snow’s father, wished for his genie to be free, and there was no price to be paid (although, he did die later from a crazy two-headed snake bite). It looked relatively simple and painless. So why was it so easy in that case when Cyrus says its difficult/dangerous?
Thoughts?
Also, We see that Jafar has collected 2 of the 3 genie lamps. Is one of the two he has the Lamp that belonged to Syndey Glass/Genie in Once Upon A Time before he was freed?

I think what Cyrus was getting at was that after getting his freedom Sydney did kill a person and wound up trapped again. Having that much freedom led to bad choices. I think Cyrus might fear what that much freedom could mean

From screenshots, they do look really similar. But I can’t see them bringing Giancarlo back for WL. They sorta used up their freebie with ONCE 302. I do think that whatever genie comes out of that lamp will be Blue and will be Aladdin’s genie.

I was wondering how Once fit into the timeline on OW, and thought, maybe it was possible Cyrus may have heard about what happened with the Genie and King Leopold, and that’s why he advised Alice against setting him free as one of her wishes.
November 12, 2013 at 5:56 pm #223325PriceofMagicParticipantCurrent day Wonderland is set during season 2 of Once. We saw the Knave in Storybrooke during the Wraith episode. As for flashbacks, the Knave’s occurred before the events of Lacey.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixNovember 12, 2013 at 11:47 pm #223401kfchimeraParticipantPerhaps there’s other examples in genie lore that generally since magic comes with a price, setting the genie free doesn’t work out so well. Cyrus didn’t want that to happen to Alice.
I agree RG that Giancarlo’s been “used ” –and it was such a pathetically small, seemingly unimportant cameo! Seriously, it added NOTHING to that scene, to see the mirror being run into EQ to tell her that news. I was all kinds of disappointed about that, because I thought they’d have a small scene at least about Mr. Glass escaping or something. They could have even sort of set it up that he escapes and then we see some glimmer in a mirror, and wonder…where did he go? Just make a nice creepy open ended thing where they can always come back to him if he had time, but implies he escaped to some other dimension with magic.
